Friendly Match between Poland and Netherlands National Teams (Preparatory Match for Paris Olympics) - Game 1
In about 2 weeks we will start the Olympic Games in Paris, in which volleyball players, Poland assigned, will take part. In the last two weeks we have learned about the groups of the Olympic tournament, and today the International Volleyball Federation presented the full schedule of the group stage of indoor volleyball. In the coming days, the beach volleyball schedule will also be presented.
The volleyball competition in Paris will begin on Saturday, July 27 with the men's matches.
The next day, on July 28, the women's volleyball competition will begin. In the women's tournament, the opening match will be played by Italy and Dominica (9:00), followed by the teams of Poland and Japan (13:00), who will play the first match of Group B, where Martyna and company will meet Brazil and Kenya.
The Polish national volleyball team based on its success in this year's VNL, climbed to 4th place in the FIVB rankings. And the Netherlands national team is currently ranked 8th in the FIVB rankings. Last season, the Dutch women's team made a splash when they beat the White and Red team in one of the 2023 VNL matches. So we can expect some very interesting matches!
But at this year's VNL Martyna and company managed to overcome the Orange Team 3-0, in Antalya Turkey. Poland defeated the Netherlands 3:0 (25:20, 26:24, 25:18) in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) intercontinental phase match. Earlier, the Polish team won two matches in Antalya - 3:0 over Italy and France. The Dutch team easily won 3:0 over Bulgaria, but was defeated by Turkey 3:1.
This match in Bielsko-Biała will be the last chance to see the Poland vs Netherlands volleyball players on court before the start of the Paris Olympics. We hope to see you in the stands, cheering for the White and Red!
The white-red team started the match with the following line-up: Katarzyna Wenerska, Magdalena Stysiak, Olivia Różański, Martyna Łukasik, Kamila Witkowska, Agnieszka Korneluk and Aleksandra Szczygłowska. From the first ball, we saw long actions and a lot of interesting defense.
Until the twentieth point, neither team was able to gain a clear advantage and only with Agnieszka Korneluk's serve did Poland manage to take a two-point lead. Further successful actions saw us win 25:21.
