    In this video you join me in Lincolnshire to answer a question...why is it so tricky to travel around the region by bus? Although routes within cities are good, the connecting services are infrequent, run at strange times and aren't always well advertised. In this video I take a scenic trip via Louth from Lincoln to Grimsby and review this...with some unexpected events occurring too!

    Another great video as always. Reminds me strongly of Norfolk- Very infrequent services, as operators seem to be under the impression of the more services they remove, the less money they'll loose, when in actual fact they're just loosing potential passengers. Useless social media pages too- Looks like some improvements are very needed in Lincolnshire though!

      Thank you, aye I'm sad to hear its the case in Norfolk too. Seems these areas where a big operator has the monopoly usually leads to villages easily been cut off from the bus network in favour of direct services that serve little purpose.

    I lived in a small village (Great Hale) about 7 miles then from Sleaford. There were adequate buses each day between the two (the bus went between Helpringham and Sleaford). I recently discovered the bus services all around there have been totally decimated. For example, it appears there are now no buses apart from buses that mainly collect and deliver children to school in Sleaford. The company that used to run them all was Lincolnshire Road Car. I expect it went under as a result of Thatcher's disastrous privatisation decision.

    Just a note, that AE07 bus you travelled on first isn't narrower, it's in fact a full height from its time on the Park+Ride services (you can tell with the extra seat behind the driver) 😃

      Ahhh that'll be difference then it just looked so narrow when I jumped on aha. Very rare to get full height buses in Stagecoach

      @@AndMoreCentral indeed, especially when specifying buses outside London. I could be wrong but I'm sure they were the only full height E400s ordered by Stagecoach outside of London...

    Honestly, this video sums up my issues with Stagecoach and a lot of bus operators in general. You see double decker buses doing the work of minibuses and everything seems to be very shoddy and run down. I think the first step to a good bus company is constant timetables and information. If a bus came by every hour at say 23 minutes past, it would be much easier for people to understand and use as well as making connections. At the end of the day, Stagecoach could do with changing up their operations in this region otherwise things are just going to get worse and worse and car usage will only increase further!

    Great video ! nice area to travel round, shame about the massive gaps in the timetables. I had a similar problem, when I travelled from Lincoln to Scunthorpe and back, on a day trip, on the 100 and 103

    • @AndMoreCentral
      @AndMoreCentral  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you. Aye the issues do seem to appear across board as you say a daytrip from Scunthorpe to further afield is also a tricky endeavour with key links at key times of the day just been non-existent.

    This is the reason they have CallConnect, I need to get from Newark to Stapleford (a tiny village in the middle of nowhere), the only bus is a Sleafordian Coaches route SLE5 which is a school bus, this proves how difficult it is to travel around Lincs by bus, WHY DID THEY DO THIS?

    I think your travel reports are excellent Alex , but, with great respect, you are addressing a limited and like minded audience and I believe you would attract more publicity if you made a version for such as “Buses” magazine. There you are more likely to receive a response from the operator.
    I look forward to your next report.

      Thank you for your feedback, it is things I am considering. I'm very much going for a 'Geoff Marshall' approach to transport vlogging and do intend to broaden out to more basic videos do want to keep some more in-depth ones for the more academic viewers

    East Yorkshire used to be similar and then to get more money they started re routing the 121 along several villages.

    I use the 50 & 56 bus a few times a year as my mum has a stactic caravan in mablethorpe. Some times I have to get the 56 & 59 to mablethorpe as the last 50 to mablethorpe is at 12:40 I believe. I do some times travel travel from Eastwood (Nottinghamshire) to Mablethorpe (Lincolnshire) there & back by 4 or 5 buses a few times a year

    Where there’s lots of people, there’s lots of buses. All the buses you’ve travelled on are mainly carrying fresh air. Sadly, Lincolnshire’s main towns are well spread out, and lots of countryside in between. The four hour gap scenario does seem weird though.

    • @AndMoreCentral
      @AndMoreCentral  2 роки тому +1

      Aye thats very true but I do feel initiatives could be put in place to increase passenger figures overall really with the 4 hour gaps in services not helping

    Stagecoach are an absolute garbage company. I'm a bit biased of course, because I'll never forget what they did in Darlington.
