I'm not even into Dream Theater but I always love watching interviews with John Petrucci. What an interesting and classy guy. Owned a JP6 for a while - what a great precision engineered guitar. Thanks for the video!
Fair question - I think they're interesting from a technical perspective (chops, tightness, super hero virtuosity, etc.) but I could never get into the singer or the overall aesthetic of their songs. Amazing players for sure though.
It is always a pleasure to watch a John Petrucci interview, whether he is talking about music, being a salesman or (usually) both. In a world full of bravado, it is wonderful to listen to such a soft spoken, down to earth individual who is also a fantastic musician and song writer. Refreshing.
Images & Words is my Holy Grail .. I was 22 when it was released. I feel I've been with the band since its inception when they were barely known. Jetzt muss ich nach Dland umziehen .. ha.
Thanks, Kris & Thomann for this interview. Always a pleasure to listen to JP - a lot of interesting facts, and tips that the man is never hesitant to share.
Awesome video! Kris looks like a little kid talking to Superman (and I'd look the same in his place). Anyway I would love to hear from the few people who didn't like this video what specifically they didn't like, was their shoes, or the color of the walls or what else!
This is the quy who next to my guitar teacher teached me how to play guitar (Rock discipline) His great tone inspired me to look after my own tone. Very important to me and JP doesn't even know but still a big thank you to him and ofcourse Thomann for this great video. Can't wait for part 2 :)
Remie Stronks I love Rock Discipline! I'll never forget him at the end of one exercise : "that was 200 ... Let's say that was difficult". Lol. I've never been able to do that exercise anywhere near 200bpm.
Not a Dream Theater fan but I am a John Petrucci fan! I would love to meet him. I listen to any interview, lecture, or clinic I come across. I just really like his energy and I appreciate the way he explains things!
I just don’t understand why the back plates aren’t flush mounted that really boggles me , Because to me this is like the ultimate guitar one thing that the back plates Stick out like that just seems strange to me unless there’s some kind of reason for it like not enough room or something I don’t know
Not so sure about the Paradigm strings thing, they feel very different in my opinion. Pretty stiff. I’d be surprised they actually use them to record or practice. They might be useful on stage.
Of course. It's a TC Electronic chorus pedal and it's over 10 years old. There's also a super tasty corn beer with that name. 😅🤷♂️ So there are good things related to that word too, not only the "current situation". Cheers //Kris
I am always shocked on how classy and genuine JP sounds in every interviews that he does.
Long Island musicians usually don't let success go to their heads.
I agree. When I see an interviewer with him, I think "what a humble, good guy."
@@FirstLast-cd6vv Nobody told Portnoy.
I never get tired of gear interviews with JP. Can't wait to meet him this August. Thanks Thomann!!

With all of the good things to say, why are you not into Dream Theater?

Watched this video...
Owns JP guitar...

Kris enjoyed every second of this!!!!!
Kris, you were very well prepared! And probably very excited too...? You don't meet a "hero" every day!
Great video and interview.
Petrucci is a hell of a guitarist and a classy dude to boot. Great interview!
Change of Seasons...One of The best sounding album....Fantastic production and songwriting!.

I'm inspired by John petrucci interviews
John Petrucci is so an impressionant guitarist and at the same time a very cool guy!
That face Kris made when JP brought the piezo sound into the clean chorus and delay sound! Same one I made
Great interview man! I could listen to JP all day long!

Great interviewer, so polite, respectful and professional

Kris here, hi! Absolutely, John is a fantastic person to hang out with. Relaxed, smart and really funny too.
I literally got chills at 16:30
I am a simple man. I see a John Petrucci interview, I like!
It's was a real pleasure watching them here in Munich a month ago. For the third time....Great interview btw.
I love John just bought his amp love it
I love this guy. Tone, note, personality, everything. .
Interesting guitar player. 😊😊😊
He is a top bloke. You are right Aziz.
//Andy
Thanks to invite him. 😊

Sorry only give you like and sub.
7:06 THE FIBONACCI SEQUENCE
Great interview
tremendo guitarrista genial .
Great/fun interview. You can see that John enjoys it as much as the interviewer. Great stuff. Keep it up.
I guess it shouldn't surprise me, but the mere mention of Ted Greene being one of his influences just makes me respect JP even more.
Great interview!
really well done, nice interview, nice mood, nice setup, nice host, really a great interview
What a cool talk! I just loved this interview. You got a new subscriber!
Kris, you're the luckiest guy in the world
While I'll never be able to afford a JP guitar, I did by a Harley Benton. What an awesome instrument. It's made well, plays well and sound great.
That extra long look at the camera from Petrucci at the end of the video is haunting.
This is a great interview!
John is a god
*John is God
"God" is used for the ones that get worshiped
"god" is used for someone truly adored
so there it is John is God.....
What a classy down to earth guy - for a god
At 16:30 it sounds just like on the record - astonishing! :-D
Why mesa amps always has that pops when changing channel or flicking a switch? Is it broken or thats the nature of the amp?? I mean is it normal?
Is it me or is Chris' giddyness at JP adorable lol
the GOAT
Hey Thomann! Which mics are being used there to record the cab please? :)
wow ! epic video
I visited thomann back in 2013 I think. Is it different from back then now? might have to book another trip if it is...
can some plz tell me how u get your stuff in stereo?

Does anyone know where John Petrucci bought these cool Jeans...?

This guitar is very impressive. The acoustic sound is practically indistinguishable from an actual one.
16:30 ! Dude look at cris’s reaction
Kris is like a little kid on Christmas and I totally get it. John seems like a nice guy too.
When you buy a piece gear that John uses, It's been toured with and any glitches get changed BEFORE it hits the streets
"It's a happy place". Yes it is!
The link to the shop is broken :/
Not so sure about the Paradigm strings thing, they feel very different in my opinion. Pretty stiff. I’d be surprised they actually use them to record or practice. They might be useful on stage.
Frage: Beutzt John Petrucci ein Overdrivepedal oder kommt die Verzerrung vom Verstärker?
hauptsächlich Verstärker
Oh Mann, der hat Feuer unterm Hintern! Danke ;)
Is that Senheiser 441D on the cab?
No that's a Voodoo VR2 ribbon mic and a Sennheiser e906 :) //Philipp
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses How is it mixed? is it 50/50 ribbon and dynamic?
Y la parte en dónde le muestran el vídeo de "eddie" el guitarrista más rápido del mundo? :v

No fkn way... 15:46 there's a pedal called corona??

@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses hahah i just thought it was funny🤣 and i'm aware of the beer. It's delicious🍺
20:39 Idk if it's too much gain or bad micing.
Sounds really bad.
Wow.
Who give you the string john???
He describe it for you, and you ask it.
LOL
🤣🤣🤣..
Wow ..
What a cool guitar player..

macho jesus
sheesh, i was half my age too.
I love santa!
This is before JP had a neck-through beard
Well, at least we now know the guy on the left knows how to say crazy.
I thought JP was using an 8-string for a moment.
Same!! When I first looked at the head, I thought I saw 8 tuners too!
yeah, JP did says he's thinking about getting an 8-string in one of his previous interviews. I'd like to see him on 8-string. It'll be interesting.
8th string sounds like shit. Everything above the 7th sounds like shit.
That's your opinion. I do like 8 strings guitars.

I see God and human
if i was rich i wud pay 100k to jam just one time with each one of my idol type people. keep 100k and donate all the rest
