The new owners hate its history and fenced it off and are apparently aggressive to pilgrims. Honestly if you buy a famous movie home you should accept what that means.
I agree! You’re like the curator of a museum. Years ago friends of ours were looking at The Soprano’s house in North Caldwell NJ, and they passed on it; because, they had the sense, and foresight to know their limitations. My husband has been obsessed with the Home Alone house since the movie first came out…and he is someone that would go outside, and talk to people looking, if we lived there❤
@@orbitarea6190Shocking Fact: The interior of the house you've seen in the movie is actually a stage set filmed in an abandoned high school gymnasium. They sketched up the floor plan from the inside of the the home and then built a replication of the interior design. They only filmed the exterior of the house on location. The basement entrance you also see in the movie isn't real. The crew dug a hole behind the house and filled it back in when they're done filming. The basement interior was also a stage set filmed in a swimming pool.
So, I watched a doc about the house, and john hughes invited them to visit the set and they were quite shocked on how different it all looked... they had quite minimalist tastes and were afraid people would think their home looked like that inside... hughes actually said "It is a bit garish, isn't it"
Also the interior of the house was a set off site from the real house for the filming of the movie. Apparently they didn’t actually film inside the house.
The indoor scenes were filmed on a set/in studio. They used the facade for the outdoor scenes, they probably had a look around the house for inspiration.
The home was only used for the exteriors and for the layout. All interior shots were filmed on a replica of the house build in a school gymnasium. I bet the family thought nobody would ever find out they never filmed there.
Rather then someone really living there someone should bye it and restore it like it was in home alone and make it into an attraction for the fans to see
I totally agree with this. Would be neat to be restored to how it looked in the movie. Charge a low admission cost and let people go see it; take photos. That would be a big "tourist attraction," I'm pretty sure.
Yes it's true! The built the whole interior set in a gymnasium. I don't know why the seller told the story of building a ramp on the stairs. Maybe $$$?!
Though much of the film was shot on a soundstage, the house itself was featured in exterior shots, as well as INTERIOR shots centered around the living room and the foyer’s grand staircase. Check out the youtube channel *22 Vision* he showed all the filming locations
@@romankoryaI just seen a make of the part when Kevin slid down the stairs. There was a ramp that was built in the hallway of the real house that was used to slide down outside. You can see this at around 26:40 into the movie.

I agree. What I saw in the movie was great. Everything looked beautiful and perfectly kept up house. That's my favorite part of the movie, is seeing the beautiful home.
I never would have bought it. If you know it attracts so much attention the why even buy it. I wouldn't want all those people constantly coming up to the house.
Well the new owners shouldn’t of bought the famous house knowing the house was used in my favorite movie 🎥 home alone . Move then lol 😆 people are crazy 🤡🎈. Putting a big fence up like it’s a fancy prison. Hollywood should buy it and, restore it to movie glory home alone set 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

Theyve even got it blurred out on google maps

I'd love to own that home just so I could pull up in my SUV smoking a cigar@@piapadmore430
in the movie the house was warm and cozy now it just looks cold and boring.
Right it’s sad I just wonder why they didn’t leave the house the same it historically and a icon it’s sad how it ended

The house looks dead inside. No warmth, no life.
As opposed to the track home crap you see everywhere? The new cubicle houses that have no soul?

I think they filmed inside the actual house with the staircase shots like in the beginning though.
