  • We're in the heart of Beverly Hills with the former estate of Elizabeth Taylor. She lived here in the 1950s and used it as a quiet refuge to raise her family with her then husband, actor Michael Wilding. From the expansive front courtyard through to the open entertaining spaces and each of the six bedrooms, this rarely available home is a serene piece of Hollywood history.

This is such a pretty house. I love the serenity, the gardens, the pool (longer is always better, IMHO), the color scheme and, yes the bedroom with the fireplace and beautiful walkouts. Very lovely. What a great listing to have! (Would love to have seen the kitchen tho!)

    Elizabeth Taylor’s Home?
It definitely needs to be preserved for posterity.

Not only was she classically beautiful, but she could really act.

Obviously don't know your history about Taylor's salary demands. She (and her mother and agents) knew her worth as an entertainer and requested enormous salary (the highest paid at the time)...and got it. When ET lived in this house, it was one of the biggest and most valuable in Beverly Hills due to lot size and views (not so today, but 50+ years ago, it was BIG).

Nothing in that house was Elizabeth's. They re-did it. Elizabeth had killer museum-quality furniture, antiques, and an art collection. She loved color. Without Elizabeth's touch this is just an overpriced lame ranch-style house in the hills. If the walls could talk, they would say "Hey, why did you paint me over and change me so much!"

She lived in the structure in the 1950s? wow....just 70 years ago. In her last decades, she lived in Bel Air, not BH. You are grasping at straws to say that it was ET's home (yes, it was 70 years ago). Nonsense to make a buck.

@@adrianguynn5807 This truly was ET’s home, but it was when she was younger. There were two famous homes she lived in Both homes had pools, but different shapes.
This may have been the house where Montgomery Clift came to a birthday party , then had that terrible accident after leaving. Elizabeth ran down the road, and helped save his life that night.. She was always so brave.
Also, let me correct you on the “Hobby Lobby” Art on the walls. Very tacky remark on your part.
Elizabeth did inherit much of her fathers estate, but obviously, they were taken out when she moved out way back when. Her later art pieces and famed jewelry were immediately guarded and removed by the Israeli State Security for safekeeping when she passed at 79.Her jewelry collection was then auctioned off a few months later.

With the romantic history, I can see the sentiment about changing anything. With that said, the home is dated, seriously dated. Not only that, if it rains very hard with that home sitting on the edge of a steep slope, it will slide to the bottom faster than Liz divorced men. It will become another tragic California destruction story. Earthquakes, mudslides, and wildfires, this home has already beat the odds way too long to last another decade or two......... Wonderful history, but way too many problems to be a serious consideration for purchase.

Elizabeth Taylor always became even more beautiful as life progressed. I'm 66 years of age. I don't remember 'not' noticing how she was doing just fine. She had this way of disarming people who probably would get lost in trance looking at her. She would use a laugh that was like a cackling. In her life, she probably could never go ANYWHERE without people staring at her. I would imagine that this place was that special place she could go to . . . a nest. And the backyard was a distraction IF she felt like going outside and see the other side of reality. Looks nice.

She only lived there for a couple of years in the 1950s. Probably nothing on show here was even present there back then. They always market these properties as if a famous previous owner was the main occupant of the house. Very misleading presentation to justify the high purchase price.

It strikes me this was a house that fit Ms. Taylor's career world - glamour world in a specific time. Even though still in relatively good condition, the house tour resonates how a house was used from a time now long gone by - namely, mostly for Hollywood "set" gatherings and parties. Purchase and tear down or purchase and restore will really depend on the sentiment and wants of the new owner. Either way, Ms. Taylor's legacy and Hollywood's legacy of that era will always provide its own special aura from its day.

Glowbugs it's a nice house but definitely NOT worth $12 million! Elizabeth Taylor or not. Real estate is all overpriced anyway and the industry and buyers/sellers full of corruption. 80% of the world lives in sub standard accommodation and people are homeless everywhere. Houses should be affordable for everyone and certainly not worth $12 million for a bunch of bricks and an old fountain. The aluminium sliding doors and the fixtures were all out of date: no bathroom or kitchen shown and they expect $12 million. People in this day and age are so ridiculous and greedy.

Arieljoy Fine it’s so wonderful that you are so accomplished. As an experienced remodeler you can understand and appreciate that individual tastes vary. It’s ironic that in one sentence you would preserve the home and yet in the next sentence you imply changes to the kitchen and bath.
As a homeowner of several properties which have had major work to gutting two, I again state it’s up to individual taste and preferences.
And with a price tag of 15.2 million the property is exclusively for the rich and famous.

Well they hardly showed any of the house considering the fact that it has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.

    You're a real sweetheart!
This house is so much out of my league. But I find it interesting that Ms. Taylor's former home has a sense of modesty and humbleness to it. It has a 50's glamour, nothing too ornate or overdone.
I know those hills well, and the night time views are magnificent. Very private home with peaceful beauty!

It is a comfortable, cozy home. The only thing we don't know about the property is the condition of the road that leads up to private beautiful scenic property.

Compared to the castles of today that are owned by the Stars- this is modest.
Very interesting study in the difference between the mentality/ego and the materialism related to it, in people/culture who were born almost a hundred years ago

If I remember right, Liz bought the house for $350,000. which seemed like a tremendous amount because regular houses went for $10,000. to 25,000. She didn't say how much they were asking for the house. I would guess at least one "0" or more, and that is what they have done to housing values since the 70's.

The home would be considered average by todays standards. If you liked the design you could reproduce it for about 320,000.00 dollars. The real value is it’s historical and sentimental significance of being the home of a beloved movie star, and it geographic location. Considering all that I’d say it’s true market value is around 3 and a half million dollars.

Good grief, people! The style, paint colors, etc. fit the taste of the people who lived there. They were probably an older couple. Buy it and do whatever pleases you. The people who purchase the house after you may not care for the changes you make and remake it to suit themselves. Get off your critical, know it all high horses!

Its a pitty we had such a very short view of the area where the house is situated...The house is built almost on top of the hill and gives that majestic few towards the city of LA. But there are houses built above hers...those would be interesting to see too. What house is built on top of that hill?
