The one time Arin takes the time to “understand” the tutorial/hints is in Garfield’s Nightmare on the Nintendo DS, a game that’s pretty self explanatory. Sounds about right…
Watched a web documentary about Garfield. Not only has the original artistic thumbprint of Jim Davis been completely erased by corporatism, average Garfield revenue is $800 billion? a year. There are 14,000 Garfield strips. It ultimately becomes a foray into why the Garfield meme became Lovecraftian torture, but by the time you get there you understand exactly why.
I keep getting Ticketmaster emails recommending other tours, and yesterday it recommended the Backstreet Boys. I think they want me to get tickets again 😔 My first showing went fine so don’t worry, hopefully I won’t get gifted more tickets though. Same for you Arin, hopefully the tour ends soon!
The TV show was called Garfield and Friends. Each episode consisted of two Garfield cartoons with a U.S. Acres cartoon between them (or 3 of each alternating during an hour format). Each episode also had several 'Quickies,' short one-joke cartoons between the main cartoons that were usually based on one of the comics. The U.S. Acres segments were called 'Orson's Farm' outside the U.S. and in the DVDs to avoid regionality. The same was true of the comic.
The funniest thing happened to me while watching this: I was watching this while making breakfast and I was at 25:44 (right before dan reads the emails) I had my back turned for a second so I didnt notice it go to an ad but the ads first words were “lets descend into the mouth of hell shall we” and I totally thought it was part of the video. It fit so well I burst out laughing.
This game seems surprisingly well made. Or is that just me. Like the levels seem purposeful and well designed, the art style while bit bland does highlight game mechanics well and the overall gameplay while simple does seem fun.
I remember that episode from Garfield & Friends: "Cash and Carry", i think it was called. That was a good one. The episode takes an "only sane man left" approach where Jon, who's making this normal-ass decision about his finances, suddenly can't find a single shop clerk who isn't a hard-core neophile who thinks there's something wrong with him. Eventually these two G-men with the same voice haul him off for questioning, all because he got rid of his credit cards. And the absurdity of it is all played for laughs, but the way Jon's voice actor plays the role always makes it so much funnier. Definitely give it a watch if you have a chance.
I love how they brought up the "baby fall down laugh." I just rewatched the Bad Dudes video a few days ago and I must have replayed that part of the video at least a dozen times.
Yes, Allie's a wonderful ally on the show. I gotta admit that it feels a little weird to know that, somewhere in the background of every Game Grumps episode, there's just another person in the room silently staring at them. "Game Grumps is performed in front of a live studio audience...of one."
@@RandomRebelSoldier this is so unnecessary. they're recording in a studio where other people who work for the same company are also working, who are all good friends. if you dont like it, dont watch.
@@RandomRebelSoldier I mean it's common knowledge that Allie is there to watch over things. And it's not like she ruins the episode. I enjoy Allie and wish we got to see more of her
Time for more Garfield facts. Garfield was canonically born on June 19, 1978 in Mama Leoni's Italian restaurant. Garfield's original voice actor, Lorenzo Music, modeled Garfield's voice on an impression of Bill Murray. Music also voiced Peter Venkman in The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series. Garfield's Nightmare was turned into a ride at Kennywood in West Mifflin, PA until it was closed about two years ago.
I'm just gonna be THAT guy for a second... Heffer bought Spunky's Fire Hydrant food bowl, Arin. The 'Sad Crying Clown in an Iron Lung' remained repossessed.
Garfield was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid, US Acres segment was also called Orson’s farm. We also had a game for Sega genesis called Garfield caught in the act. Love to see you do it let’s play for that game since you’re doing Garfield games.
This just unlocked a memory! I was a Garfield fan as a kid and my mom got me this game for my birthday or christmas or something like that. Super interesting to see this again
US Acres is the original title of that comic strip and the middle segment on Garfield and Friends. However, international versions of the show changed the name to Orson's Farm. When the show was re-released on DVD, the Orson's Farm versions of the episodes were used for most of the discs, until the Boomerang remaster (which remade the intro in Flash and cropped the show to widescreen) restored the US Acres title.
22:14 The Illuminaughty being an actual UA-cam channel (not about the Illuminati, it's in reference to the creator's avatar), that made be crack up so hard that Arin thinks he's the first one to think of this joke.
Their videos are filmed months in advance, so there’s no telling when this was recorded. In a recent Sonic video, they were talking about it being May at the time of recording.
It was called Garfield and friends and it actually had two intro songs. The 2nd half of the show was, as Dan said, US Acres. I recently found the show again on a streaming service, but only has episodes from s3 and beyond (which has the 2nd opening song but the same starting animation of Garfield starting up a gramophone)

I think they want me to get tickets again 😔
My first showing went fine so don’t worry, hopefully I won’t get gifted more tickets though.
It finally happened and Dan DROPPED THE BIT 😂 lol jk feel better Arin! ❤️
It wouldn't surprise me if this game originally existed as something else and was skinned into Garfield later.
Was here back before the title changed. OG viewers stand up.
I love how they brought up the "baby fall down laugh." I just rewatched the Bad Dudes video a few days ago and I must have replayed that part of the video at least a dozen times.
i love hearing ally laughing in the background 💗
Yes, Allie's a wonderful ally on the show. I gotta admit that it feels a little weird to know that, somewhere in the background of every Game Grumps episode, there's just another person in the room silently staring at them. "Game Grumps is performed in front of a live studio audience...of one."
@@RandomRebelSoldier this is so unnecessary. they're recording in a studio where other people who work for the same company are also working, who are all good friends. if you dont like it, dont watch.
Me too. I'm actually really appreciating her prescence on the newer eps because what Arin REALLY needs to have around is a fact checker lol.
@@RandomRebelSoldier I mean it's common knowledge that Allie is there to watch over things. And it's not like she ruins the episode. I enjoy Allie and wish we got to see more of her
@@RandomRebelSoldier "I can't enjoy this because this person that I know is there may say something at any second"
This is the content I’m in the comments for…
Garfield was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid, US Acres segment was also called Orson’s farm. We also had a game for Sega genesis called Garfield caught in the act. Love to see you do it let’s play for that game since you’re doing Garfield games.
"You have 99 doughnuts!"
"And a pizza ain't one."
More like 99 DO NUTs
This just unlocked a memory! I was a Garfield fan as a kid and my mom got me this game for my birthday or christmas or something like that. Super interesting to see this again
Man, I remember this game!
Played it when I was... Less critical about games.
Them talking about loosing pizza when injured & then you "start flashing." When the hell did Garfield turn into Mardi Gras?
22:14 The Illuminaughty being an actual UA-cam channel (not about the Illuminati, it's in reference to the creator's avatar), that made be crack up so hard that Arin thinks he's the first one to think of this joke.
So it was a titling error with the previous video, and they somehow knew the future that Arin would get tickets?!
... I thought this was a reupload based on the title....
I stared at the word “titling” for longer than I’d like to admit trying to figure out what a small breast had to do with anything
@@jackseatgaming2556 I am still confused as I click play.
When I think of Rocko's Modern Life, I think: "Turn the page, wash your hands," and, "I'm nauseous, I'm nauseous!" Can you guess who my favorite character is lol The reboot movie is pretty good.
well call me Ms Hutchinson because i love Filbert too.
Hated the reboot movie. It didn't feel like the show did.
Arin: 5:07
Also Arin: 10:00
"What how was I supposed to know?!"
I love Garfield’s nightmare don’t slander such a wonderful ride haha
*AERIAL DUMMMMP!*
I tried to go to the actual Backstreet Boys concert on Tuesday and my transmission blew up on the drive up. No refund on the tickets, no refund on the hotel, $200 tow bill and now I don't have a car. The Backstreet Boys are cursed.
It absolutely said anything after 5 pizzas and yet it’s anything after 3 pizzas for 10 donuts. Why is that not upsetting more people in here?
Yeah sometimes Arin misreads something, but that was just the game being wrong about its own mechanics lol
Happy to hear you got through the tour man- Sending much love
12:38 the VERY REAL fear I had that Arin was going to say "ivermectin" took a year off my life
If it works, it works.
@@bplionel2 if it works it works, and if it's horse dewormer it doesn't 😂
@@nightwolfpigeon Unless you've tried both the animal grade and human grade to compare, you don't know for sure if you're correct. That's why I said "if".
@@bplionel2 😂😂😂
@@nightwolfpigeon Hey, if IVM works for the politicians in Washington, shouldn't it work for the common people?
I was NOT expecting Defunctland's Garfield Ride episode to get mentioned. What a pleasant surprise!
...And now I'm hoping Dan and Arin bring up the... very interesting takes on Garfield from EyepatchWolf's video soon.
Maybe it's that he went from having a nightmare to a regular dream.
24:57
He did the fuck move
"We're doing this to coast off the algorithm of Defunctland" 🤣
I hope this means they'll get Kevin Perjurer on Guest Grumps some day.
"We're doing this to coast off the algorithm of defunctland" Gets the Bizarre Garfield Dark Ride in his recommended.
Get well soon Arin! BSB tickets are no fun. 😊 and stay healthy Dan!
Sorry to hear about the tickets. When my mom got tickets, she had the same accomodations made as Arin and she was able to get rid of her tickets way faster than I thought! The metal taste was her biggest complaint, but it's better than being stuck in the violent mosh pit at a BSB reunion tour.
A few things:
1) I'm early for change.
2) Isn't there a game that has to do with Garfield being an Eldritch horror?
3) If there is, would you boys be down to play it?
I don't have anything funny to end this on...
Garf on lads! \m/
I love Kennywood! and i remember the old mill as it was, and the garfield version. So glad that video was pointed out to me, very nostalgic
Arin: And the medicine is free!
Me: Laughs in Canadian who is married to a nurse
I'm sorry for your tickets, Arin! It sounds like your seats were up in the balcony, at least, so that's good. When I got tickets, that shit felt like a backstage pass and a meet-and-greet with Howie D.
Sorry to hear, Arin!! My husband and I just got tickets as well. He had tickets around this time last year and it wasn't a fun time, but I have managed to avoid those damned scalpers for 2 years, only to get the tickets when carrying a tiny human inside of me! Fun stuff! Get better soon!!
Added side note: I grew up about 15 minutes away from Kennywood, where they had the really, really dumb Garfield's Nightmare ride. The Old Mill was WAY better, and everyone HATED the Garfield ride.
32:10 All I thought when Dan said that was that classic "Shoes" video. XD
So this is when you meant to upload the episode! (This was available for a few minutes a couple days ago)
I thought I either just had a stroke or traveled through time, because I watched it a few days ago and was really confused seeing it show up as a new upload today.
@@icarusfountain Yep, I never even realized they took it down until people talked about it here lol
hearing dan read some of the garfield's nightmare ride stories from the defunctland video was an interesting collision of two little worlds that i did not thing would combine yet here we are
My first thought: Aww, Arin still has tickets?
**sees that there were actually no previous BSB tickets**
Me: Oohhh, it was buuuullshiiiiit 😬
They mean C**id.
I’ve ridden Garfield’s Nightmare at Kennywood a hundred times lol. It’s corny, but something about it is fun and nostalgic. You wear 3D glasses, and the fun parts is the insane colors and weird images. Personally, I like it. It’s tradition to ride it, along with the Exterminator and the JackRabbit. Matter of fact, planning to go something this summer-as long as Covid numbers aren’t bad and we can afford to pay for gas.
