Most likely a visual glitch lol it reminds me of UMK3 Smoke occasionally if he grabbed you close with his chest spear, you would see the whole spear wire on screen as if he grabbed you full screen.🤣

Home lander is naturally combo proof because he floats at a decent height making it hard to use attacks that are lower to the ground
