      @jimmynswgr Of course man! I grew up watching Thomas, and seeing this reignited my childhood. Even the cabin looks the same as it does in the old series. I love it.

    With all this VR tech going around these days, I'm surprised no one has invented a way to be shrunk down to just a few inches tall. I'd love to see what operating little garden-railway engines would be like, from standing inside the actual cab.
    Come to think of it, though, a lot of infrastructure would need to be built to accommodate such small drivers. Imagine trying to lift a garden hose as wide around as you are! Or handling a grease can that you can comfortably sit inside of.
    The world truly is amazing in miniature. Keep up the great work!

    "Thomas is a tank engine who lives at the big station on the Island of Sodor.
    He's a cheeky little engine with six small wheels,
    a short stumpy funnel,
    a short stumpy boiler
    and a short stumpy dome."

    • @Mr.Porkthrust
      @Mr.Porkthrust 13 годин тому

      He's a fussy little engine too. Always pulling coaches about ready for the big engines can take on long journeys. And when trains come in, he pulls the empty coaches away so that the big engines can go on rest. Thomas thinks no engine works has hard as he does. He loves playing tricks on them, including Gordon the biggest and proudest engine of all. Thomas likes whistling rudely at him.

    Never quite got my head around the built-in blowers. How do they differ from the external ones?

    • @jimmynswgr
      @jimmynswgr  Місяць тому +1

      @@1earedwolf the fan blower on top of the chimney at the start is to pull air through before there is enough steam pressure in the boiler to use the loco’s blower. The loco’s blower is a steam jet which is situated next to the blast pipe in the smokebox. It is controlled by a valve on the backhead and steam travels internally through a pipe in the boiler to the blast/blower combination ring in the smokebox. Is that the difference you are referring to?

    Curious why you have to wait for the pressure to drop before blowing down

    • @jimmynswgr
      @jimmynswgr  Місяць тому +2

      @@Linnie0499 I don’t always wait, but it seems to be the general consensus by the model engineers that mentored me that it is a good idea to let the boiler cool down a bit following dropping the fire before blowing down to prevent unnecessary stresses from rapid temperature and pressure changes.

  • @abrr2000
    @abrr2000 Місяць тому

    I wouldn't use garden hose water myself. It's either FULL of calcium that will accumulate in the boiler (and cleaning that out is going to be a pain in the ass) or it'll be "soft water" which is full of salts and other things that aren't good for a boiler.
    I always use filtered rain water in my boilers. That said, I run 16mm scale engines, so my boilers are much smaller.
