Akama only ever cared about the Black Temple and Altruis was unapologetic about killing other demon hunters. But in the end I could understand why we players had to choose: it all depends on how we look at Illidan.
Altruis would make sense in any other organization but the Illidari. Their effectiveness is their fanaticism. Questioning Illidan harms their effectiveness. Not to mention we've seen what happens to demon hunters with doubt or alteriar motives to Illidan. Without their direction being what it is, the demon within either overtakes them or corrupts them. Altruis' corruption is bound to happen.

It made more sense to me because in tBC Illidan clearly was framed as a more, if not evil, then a very dubious character, and Altruis had a point - Illidan might have gone too far in some areas. Only with Legion Illidan was properly reframed. And if you choose Altruis, he does what is necessary to stop the Burning Legion same as everyone and doesn't mess up Akama. Poor Akama.
In what way did Illidan look "dubious", outside of our factions opposing his? He's always had the long game in mind, and the very creation of the demon hunters/Illidari shows this. Altruis is, ironically, blind to this, and he never really clarifies exactly HOW Illidan seemingly went too far.

How does kayn not have direction now? There are still countless demons on countless worlds. They existed before sargeras turned them into the legion and they will continue to cause harm and destruction without him. Just because the legion is gone doesn't mean demons aren't a threat anymore.
In a way I'm not supprised. In many ways it's a the easy choice. "I'm perfectly righteous. It was nessary. I didn't have a choice." Vs "It was only ever a rock."
I understand that the two optional lieutenants needed to be a blood elf and a night elf, but Kayn should still have been Vandel. Or at least Kor'vas. He was literally Illidan's second in command in the book and in WoW he's been relegated to an NPC you take one quest from in the mount quest and that's it. He's not even a champion, like wtf?
personally i think Vandel should have replaced Altruis i think it makes no sense for a demon hunter to trust the guy who sicced the alliance and horde on there teachers and handed them over to the legion.

Altruis was a critic who basically used the alliance and horde to hand over one of Illidan's best demon hunter trainers over to the legion so yeah he really got that going against him.
Do we know what happens to Kayn if you do choose Altruis as your 2nd? He runs off in the demon hunter starting quest after that, and Altruis replaces him in any world map area Kayn usually shows up in. Does Kayn just disappear off the face of Azeroth?

As did I, don't want to replay the campaign and do that to Akama. My one regret was not choosing to sacrifice myself for the portal and got stuck with a ghost in order hall instead. I assumed it would be one of those non-choices where they tell you you can't kill yourself :/ It will haunt my ocd having self forever. Good thing this is my least favorite class :D

There is so little story for Kayn that this entire video is: "Kayn is a loyal Demon Hunter, he was also at this place, so let me tell you what was going on AROUND Kayn". Hell, a not insignificant portion of this video was talking about the mechanics of the Hearthstone card. This video was kinda a joke to be honest, trying desperately to say something vaguely in topic for 10 minutes.
He skimmed throught most of the important stuff, he gets good amount of characterisation from quest texts and also is present for every major event of the DemonHunter campaign, again Nobble brushed past most of it.
@@sslingo There is a rumor that in the next expansion the WoW cosmology will be extended, we will explore more about the First Ones, the Titans of Death, The Void and the Light, the Burning Legion that continues to be in other worlds , so ... yeah. Illidan will be there or at least he will appear, since he is not dead and probably defeated Sargeras, perhaps he became an agent of the Pantheon of Titans.
Rikipiki Sol As a DH main, I agree that the AoE can be insane, and in Mythic + is great a lot of the time. However there are some weeks where the affixes makes it so people don’t even want to take a DH due to some not knowing how not to cleave as much for stuff like Bursting stacks that will kill their party. Other than that, with the right full stacks of corruptions, like haste increases, their really good in raids. They’re also decent in PVP, being out shon by Fire mages and Destro locks, unless played right in some cases.

Yeah, they were a lot stronger when they had a constant 20% increase to their damage due to all the demons they were killing.
