Hey Gonzo, I am sorry to here that machines cost so much for you guys. I seem to remember a clip of you and a friend doing a refurb. Yes, we want you to present a video where you rebuild an old machine. Be sure to buy raw stainless and a 40 ton press. ha,ha, also could you bend and braize your own wire forms. 4 stag electro tank, you know acid, copper, nickel, chrome. I bought a playfield from JJP and I am simply populating it. I am about 4,000$ in now, but knew it would be expensive. what no one told me is that parts are not available. I secured wire forms from JJP but not much else. I needed 7 rollover buttons and they had two. Other parts houses carry a little inventory, (like the pop up post 140$, the goblins complete assembly 300$ each x 4 ) , JJP is a decade in now and no one told them that the parts sales is least expensive, most profitable part, engineering is done, manufacture is done and a part time person to bill, box and ship. They have got to have every thing. Ask the auto industry. My question to you is Stern the only company that allows us, home brew, ( USA Baby Boomers with time and money) to build machines for home fun projects? I have been able to get some old stern items to bolt right in to Woz. Auto launch, up down brackets etc. I also have GnR hex lights for the back stage, not 99$ x5,the usb camera 150$, I bought a esp 32 with 100% ready to wi-fi plug and play camera for 11$. I can not even guess what you and your group pays for parts. where to get them. I really enjoy your presentations. I can fiddle all day with nuts and bolts. The best part is The Big Gonzo and High End Pins.thank you from Bill P.S. I think i will go stare at an ARC Welder so I can enjoy the UV Avatar cateracts/glycoma. Just kidding ,maybe?
Looks fantastic, very beautiful. But for me, I dont think we needed another avatar, its not a theme I'd pay the JJP premium for. However its gorgeous and I would love to play it on location.
I'm not sure of Don's exact example, but 3 for 1 Stern Pro's vs JJP isn't possible in the U.S. either...I wonder if he was comparing to a JJP Pirates...then maybe? The Stern Pro's are $7000 and premiums are $9700...and a JJP is $12k. If you're paying the same over there for a JJP versus a Stern Premium (roughly), the JJP would definitely be a better value. Thanks for the video(s)!
$15k for the collector's edition and that seems like the obvious choice for Avatar. Really more like 2 Stern pros, but this Avatar machine looks incredible.
I don't see any JJP tables on location here in Australia. That is a pity. Can it be they are so expensive that they can only be found in a few private collections of a couple of rich people? I wonder how a company like that can keep in business when nobody sees their machines except on UA-cam . Back in the 90's , we played all the brands of pinball machines in our local pubs/student bars over a beer or an ice tea. That is what brought on the enthusiasm. How can young people get that these days when machines are just not around? I would love to play an Elton John but the chance of ever seeing one in real life is very slim.
I wonder if somebody would dare to make a pinball with a completely original theme... like funhouse and so on.. is the imagination there these days to make one from scratch? :)
I believe Total Nuclear Annihilation is an original theme. It does seem though that nowadays there are incredibly few tables released that aren't based on 3rd party IPs popular with the customership consisting of middle-aged blokes (so lots of rock band stuff for instance). Basically the further you go back in time, the more thematical originality you'll find. The '90s also had its fair share of "film and TV" tables such as Star Trek TNG, Addams Family, Twilight Zone and Doctor Who, but far fewer tables based on music IP (if any).
I don't understand why pinball manufacturers don't do more original IPs. Total creative freedom. I was listening to John Romero talking about the development of the original PC game Doom. He was saying that id Software were approached by 20th Century Fox and offered the Aliens license for their new game, after their big success with Wolfenstein 3D. They were initially excited as big fans of the film but decided pretty quickly they didn't want the creative restrictions so did their own thing with demons and Doom. They took their chances and it paid off massively. With respect to themes, we need more creative, imaginative balls 😅 Ironically, Doom would be my dream pinball theme. The hypocrisy!
I really wanted to dislike this machine, as I was hoping they would make The Matrix. I thought, Stern have already been there and done Avatar so why bother? But when I saw it I was completely blown away. Full of innovations: A pop bumper under the playfield, an aerial spinner, six ramps and an eclipse that sweeps across the table. The lighting and artwork are superb and the sound is great, too. The holographic topper for the CE is perhaps, a bit OTT - if you are looking at what is going on in that, you are probably losing the ball. That said, if I had 14K+ to throw at a pinball machine, I would order an CE in a heartbeat. Just stunning!
What stops all my friends from buying a JJP machine is not only the flipper feel, but the fact that they still use Mirco Playfields. I personally got issues with my GnR and Lebowski. So glad Dutch Pinball ditch Mirco. Never again.
If I'm going to get a JJ Pin, I would wait until it is a Matrix and I would get the CE. I would also get a theme like Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, TMNT, The Fifth Element, Jurassic Park, etc. But spending 15k USD for a theme that doesn't do anything for me is out of the question. If I could get a CE New In Box for 12k USD, I would consider it. I just don't agree with the 15k pricing for a single game and a theme that doesn't matter to me.
Bargain of the moment is Dialed In. Pat Lawlor designed let loose, given anything to top all his games. The parts bill says it will never happen again. And the price now is a joke. This is a pinball machine not a piece of corporate merch. No Brands!
Keep’em coming Gonzo. Your channel is 1 of 3 that I check daily
Thanks mate . . . plenty more to come
I'll take it one further. This is absolutely THE best time for pinball.
With this and Elton John, Jersey Jack become the kings of illumination.

1987-1997 was the true first golden age for pins, in my opinion. 2018 to the present is the second golden age. It’s unbelievable.
Best time ever for pinball. This is a great channel. Great content. Thanks gonzo!!!
Stern's X-Men isn't JJPs competition. Who's more worried about JJPs Avatar? Dutch Pinball's Alice in Wonderland should be worried right now.
Great listen. I think Dons example was for 3 used stern pros. You could get say venom pro, wick pro and AIQ pro for the price of new JJP CE
My dealer has a le on display. The theme wasn’t a must have for me, but the game is really amazing. We ordered a CE!
Looks fantastic, very beautiful. But for me, I dont think we needed another avatar, its not a theme I'd pay the JJP premium for. However its gorgeous and I would love to play it on location.
Love ya work mate!! 🇦🇺
JJP do make the world under the glass pins! Just expensive here in Oz. $21K
All this wizard of oz talk has me thinking that Dude a " wicked" pinball.machine would be legendary.
Avatar looks great. I dont know much about Avatar, but just like an original theme, as long as it's fun to play, I am in.
A JJP is $4,000 more expensive than a stern in Australia

Probably buying 3 on the secondary market

I’d be very happy to be gifted both avatar and xmen! 😂
Such a shame they can't get a decent theme (fat gnr is an almost exception) I want avatar with uncanny xmen theme 😢

look at american pinball

It's a shame, they did successfully for decades now they all want the easy money
I don't understand why pinball manufacturers don't do more original IPs. Total creative freedom.

Dude all this partisan stuff, sounds like you've been spending too much time on Pinside 😂. Angry internet types everywhere! Great vid man, enjoyed it
Cheers Andy mate, hope you're keeping well.

Because there is an upcoming avatar movie

There's rumors that Michelle Rodriguez isn't in it. We'll see.

This looks good tbh. Pinball buyers are spoilt for choice.
Still destroying the ring are we?
We miss you Spencer!
JJP is so close to getting my money. Just need a better theme and a really good toy.
No matter how great the pin looks.. It's still the same crappy flippers. Floppy noodle flippers.
They fixed this with Elton
Epic has become a cringe word.
Totally overused . . . as is awesome.
