An update on the metal lathe:
The company ( 津田製作所 Tsuda Manufacturing ) that made it was in operation around WW2 and a while after, but information is sparse given the company went out of business in the 1970s or so. We'll continue to do some digging, and maybe have a full breakdown of the situation in a bit of time.
