Thank you so much for putting this out!! I had the same experience with Air France in May; after your video, I submitted a claim & got my compensation this morning.
So happy for you Flo. This is a piece of great information. I wished I got my money back from Lufthansa airline. We had the worst experience flying them, and I will never again fly with them even if the flight is free. Thanks for sharing Flo. Air France/KLM and now Delta have always been my go-to preferred choice of flying. I will go ahead and put in my claim for my flight and luggage delays.
That Lufthansa, I also had a bad experience with them the one and only time I flew them, their flight attendants were just plain rude to the passengers and I said no more. Please go ahead and submit your claims. You already meet the distance requirements, if you meet the 3 hours delay requirements, you and everyone that travelled with you will get the maximum payout each.
@@FloChinyere I agree with you that their flight attendants are rude. I encountered it on my flight. Our flight was delayed for four hours. Scheduled to leave Lagos for Frankfurt at 11 pm but ended up leaving at 4am the next day. The stupid plane we were about to board left us and went to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, to pick up passengers. They gave us hot water and biscuit as compensation and also no air-conditioning in the terminal. It was the worst travel experience in my life.
Na wa ooo! Such ill treatment! By that delay alone, you MAY qualify. May because you will need to arrive your final destination later than 3 hours from the original schedule to qualify. Did this delay in Lagos cause you to miss your flight from Frankfurt to the US, such that you arrived later than 3 hours the original arrival time?
Interesting that you had a terrible experience with Lufthansa airline and have great experience with Air France/KLM and my own experience was the opposite. I had a horrible experience with Air France/KLM in 2017 but had an excellent flight experience with Lufthansa airline from Canada to Port Harcourt in 2019. I guess different strokes for different folks. For us Nigerians, i still believe that British airways remains the best but for the cost.
@@kyrianuwandu1162 BA does not rate Nigerians. They put their oldest planes on the Lagos route. It was when I travelled with them to Houston and Cape Town that I knew they had chala-chala planes. I was using them when I lived in the UK because it was direct. From my experience, Air France/KLM is far better both in customer service and flight experience.
Thanks Flo. You sure narrowed it down for me. I did file a claim and Lufthansa resisted it. I was returning to Nigeria from the USA. United Airlines was the connecting flight. It's delay caused me to miss my flight and ended up with over a 6 hour delay. They claimed United Airlines is a non EU. I'm now inspired by your post to relaunch my siege. I'll be glad to receive any guidance you can give me on the matter. Thanks sis
If you flew into the EU with United Airlines they are the ones you should go to because they are the ones that delayed your flight that made you miss your Lufthansa flight, that is if I understood your comment. Based on the 4th condition which I said I am not sure about in the video, you may be entitled to compensation. But the filing should be with United Airlines not Lufthansa. So research if there's such compensation for delayed or cancelled flights for the USA. If yes, you can present your changed flights as proof of your late arrival. The only reason Lufthansa put you on the next flight without charging you anything (I guess) is because they are on codeshare with United. But if you had booked your flight all the way with Lufthansa and they arrived in Germany late, you would have been entitled to compensation with Lufthansa.
Your experience reminds me of my recent flight leaving out of Lagos with Delta airlines. After boarding we sat for 2 hours waiting to get the okay to depart from the gate due to weather conditions. This long wait caused me to miss my connecting flight. This flight was cancelled and rescheduled. I was downgraded from my original seat section. I filed a complaint as soon as I got back home. Delta stepped up & gave me a refund plus Sky Miles!😁
I love this video. I live in the states and experienced a similar situation with Delta Airlines. I was traveling to Florida with my 5yrold son in April and our flight was canceled in Atlanta on our way back to Newark NJ. We were flown into New York which is the next closest airport near us. We ended up spending $144 on lyft to get back to NJ. It took almost 2 months but I was compensated for my lyft expenses after showing a receipt. So yes all you have to do is ask, it's either a yes or no after looking at your case as you said.
Yes, exactly. It's our responsibility to file for compensation and it's the airline's to pay up. When they say a No where it should be a yes, we push harder. :)))
Ahhh thank you for this video. I travelled home to Ghana last year for Christmas with Lufthansa it was my first and last time flying with them. Customer service are rude, germans are rude in general, got stuck in Germany for 4 days before finally arriving in Ghana. It took almost 3 months from filing complaint/claim to recieving compensation. And then also lost our baggage for over 2 weeks also . Hmmm they cancelled one leg of our return flight and didnt even inform us via email/text nothing. Its only the holy spirit who instructed me to go to the desks 2 hours to boarding only to be informed then i had to get into the plane leaving in 5 mins or risk missing my rescheduled flight (which i had not beeen informed off) Worst airline ever
What an awful experience. They did something similar to my cousin this year, casually cancelled her flight and moved it to one week later and her visa was running out. That's weird threatening a passenger to get on an EARLIER flight or risk missing a scheduled one. They should thank you for coming early to catch that one with a seat because you saved them money. If the cancellation of your return flight resulted in delays, you are entitled to another compensation on that one.
Yes some airlines do not annoy us to the point of no return. That's my relationship with Turkish Airlines, I have mostly had a good experience flying them but once you need to change something about your flight, their customer service no be am at all! One of my friends is always warning us about that airline because they dealt with him so much. 😂
Thank you for the great information. I see you used my comment at the start of the video 😊. We will need to share the compensation 😆. Back to us, I have been researching Qatar airways so I can get compensation where necessary. Well done and thank you..
Thank you for showing these steps. Wish I knew this on my trip to and from Nigeria where my flight was delayed by AF. A quick question. If the flight was booked by an agent, can I still claim compensation or should it be the agent's responsibility?
It does not matter, as long as you were on that flight that was delayed for more than 3 hours or booked on the one that was cancelled, you have the booking code, your first name and surname as I talked about in that log in area, you are good to go.
Just recently my luggage went missing under their custody. Am yet to get the said luggage till date. Though I have already lodged a complain. Please I will appreciate if you advice me on how to go about this. Thank you
You know, this flight delay or cancellation is paid based on the people that suffered the consequences so yes, each passenger on the flight is entitled to compensation irrespective of age. Under Article 3 in the regulation they wrote: "This Regulation shall NOT apply to passengers travelling free of charge or at a reduced fare not available directly or indirectly to the public." So each person with a paid ticket is entitled to compensation even if you bought the ticket with air miles. The one I am not sure of is if lapped babies receive the full payout because you know, they don't pay the full ticket. If you have a lapped baby travelling with you, just include them during the claim and see what they say but every other person is entitled to the full pay out.
You did not give any details but usually once you use the right channels, they must respond to you even if it is to tell you NO, that your claim won't be possible. If it's about baggage claim, flight delay or cancellation, one can actually take them all the way to court and they don't want that. So if it's your right, they will pay you sharp sharp.
Good evening to you aunty Flo. God bless you for your positive videos. I've learnt alot. Please i want to talk to you. Is there any avenue to reach you please. It is very urgent 🙏. Thank you for your quick response
Based on what happened with the cancellation, i deserve the maximum compensation so they don't really have a choice there. Keep enjoying TA. We don't wish for flight disruptions but remember that whenever you are flying into the EU and there's a delay or cancellation, no EU compensation for you ooo, only when you are flying out. 😉 Because TA is not an EU airline.
