The pedestrian signs for Sweden/Finland have helped me out so many times I've also tried the Latvian soil meta on the Baltics map and I can confirm it helped a lot as well. Thank you for these wonderful tips Peter
one more tip to possibly help in distinguishing Slovakia from Czechia is a little word meaning sale: predaj (Slovak) vs prodej (Czech). you can find it on all kind of ads and billboards, food stands etc, but also surprisingly often in rural areas on little "for sale" signs stuck in the ground.
also you pay with euro in slovakia and with crowns in czechia. The crowns have a lot less value so when you see prices like 1,5 (e.g. gas stations) you are sure in slovakia.
9:15 Peter: "Since not many people speak Chinese..." Me: "But (Mandarin) Chinese is the most spoken language in the world..." (I know what he meant, regarding the GeoGuessr community, obviously)
It's because GeoGuessr doesn't use Baidu maps. If they did, we'd be making China tips videos about important Hanzi. Still very useful for Taiwan: you want to know 中, 東西北南, 市,縣,台灣, 路,段。。。。
Better for maps with submitted pictures: TV Dishes will always point toward the equator. The satellites are geosynchronous. Canada, they point almost at the horizon, where closer to the equator they may point slightly higher.
Another tip I’d like to share that I just learned today, is that in Iceland the white route numbers are grouped together by the first digit as well, and they rotate clockwise around the whole country. If the route number starts with F, it is most likely near the center of the country.
Wrote some of the tips to myself if someone find it useful 🤷♂️ *pedestrian crosses signs* Spain and Andorra - 8 lines Sweden - 4 lines Finland - 5 lines Estonia - 3 lines *Guard rails* Spain - often a yellow reflector Edgy guard rails- Serbia *Soil - Baltic* Latvia - brownish Lithuania - lighter *Signs - Czechia* Czechia - standing out arrows *Indonesia/Malaysia* Malaysia - double solid Center lines *Taiwan* The highler the first number is, the southern you are *Australia* Dark brownish holey pole - Northern part
That electric meter is part of the basic kit for General Electric-type systems. They are found in the Americas except in countries which use 50 Hz-type European-style electrical systems. These meters coincide with the US plug style with two flat prongs or two flat prongs and a ground with a rounded top and flat bottom. The old GE type also has characteristic insulators and capacitors on the poles.
Super stuff! Also 5:17 If it has 3 bars and the figure has feet (rather than rounded bottoms) then it's Estonia (and not Russia or Ukraine). 7:35 The road numbers in the UK is based on a radial system based on London for 1-6. 7-9 is clockwise based in Scotland (not that I've had the opportunity to use that).
Hey Peter I have an idea for you, or maybe someone that will come across my comment. It would be amazing to create some quite of quiz with all of your tips involved in it. Maybe a easy, medium, and hard.. with the amount of questions varying. I would gladly take the quizzes only to expand my knowledge for GeoGuessr :D. Thought I would throw it out as an idea, thank you!
Thanks for the suggestion! I have made a map on GeoGuessr called "A Learning World" which contains many of the tips I've talked about and that you can use to practice them. Not really a quiz but sort of similar. :)
Hah the electric box meta is sort of mine :) The round ones are found everywhere in north and middle america. South america pretty much never has a round one. Peru ones are really distinctive, but also Urugayans. They always use these thick light pipes to lead cables into/out of the box. It's almost a dead giveaway, I never went wrong with that. If you have a toss up between Uru and Argy this is super useful. See my practice map here: www.geoguessr.com/maps/6016ce62e8ae550001e729cb 6:31 Vienna also has these red-white-red strips on almost every location on their poles. You can see them also in this video. Warning: I've seen the same in one german city recently and fell for it :) But generally these strips are a super good and easy clue for Vienna. Maybe this is not an advanced tip, but basic :)

"Sweden uses 4 lines, Finland uses 5 lines" and then there's Aland which used both signs to make it even more unclear which country it belongs to
I had already seen this, but forgot to add a comment. This was an amazing and useful video and it will help the next time I'm in a BR
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you, lots of good tips there. Should be very useful -- at least until I forget everything.
Again, your tips and tricks video are GOLD. Would love to see more!!
Thanks! I'm happy to hear you find them helpful! 😊

Great video Peter! Useful tips as always!
Listen, I love the game and I specifically looked up a video for this topic and picked yours... so you are doing something right!

Thank you so much Peter. You're doing a great job 😊
I'm from Taiwan and the area code trick is super useful Lol
Great video Peter! Thanks for all these tips!
Glad you like them!
Canada road construction cones are black and orange. US are white and orange. US arrows on signs are closed in and Canada they have space between them
Thanks for sharing the tips! Bulgaria can be tricky for sure! :D
Loved the video! Keep the grind up🔥👌

Finland has also new pedestrian signs, but the new ones have still five stripes.
Thanks for the info! ^^
This will take me a bit longer to learn than the beginner tips, I wonder why
Ty so much
Happy to help! :)
Bottom, Left, Right = Estonia, Sweden, Finland = 3,4,5. Also, Norway has 4 bars with the feet cut off (squared bottom)
Bulgaria, Island, Sweden and Norway=4 bars. Most of the Baltics, Ukraine and Russia=3 bars.
the us has the yellow relfectors on their guard rails
The UK does a similar thing to Hungary. If you find the A38, the A30 is nearby.
Don't get caught out though - some of the roads are very long (eg. the A38) and end up in the "wrong" zone..
@@DadgeCity usually that’s with like A1 or something like that. A38 leads from Cornwall to Devon so you can narrow down the location more.
A38 goes from Cornwall to Nottinghamshire!
@@DadgeCity really? I thought it ended at a motorway somewhere in Dorset. I live in Devon.
Tips on south africa vs australia? Sometimes they can look quite similar
They definitely can! I show some of the differences in my road line and Google car tip videos.
hi. Do one for United States vs United Kingdom vs Australia vs Singapore vs Canada vs South Africa. It's confusing which are which.
Thanks for the suggestion! I have continent specific tip videos on my channel, they should be helpful for you! :)
wow that background scared me but I haven't seen the video yet
canada also has low cam coverage!
Never seen low cam in Canada either pretty sure its not a thing
@@noambar1902 its not as low as the swiss cam but still lower than usual
Nice, but could you just upload this to my neurolink? I cannot remember this stuff.
