      Haha - thanks for watching. I really embraced having a month of sewing and it was fun. I can quite easily sew for 5/6 hours once my girls are asleep xx

    Everything was just gorgeous. Amazing you were able to get all that sewing done. I really love the sagebrush top. I want to make that and I've got the perfect fabric for it, but just concerned it might not be good for me because of my age, I'm 67 and it seems like it would be for younger people. I love all the younger styles and it seems like the 1970s styles are so popular now. The 70s are when I was young and really loved dressing in that boho style way back then😊

      I'm 62 and also love the "younger" styles. I say if you love it make it! There is no reason we have to dress frumpy or for our age. I always think if you wear something you love it will probably look great. Of course we don't want to dress like teenagers but we still want to be stylish. I also really love the sagebrush top. I want to make it but I just might reduce the puffiness of the sleeves a bit. As I said to my husband, once a fashionista always a fashionista!

      Thank you so much for watching. I was worried about the sagebrush due to the shoulders - I thought it would make me wide but I’ve grown to love it and it looks so different in a drapey fabric. One of the great reasons we sew is to make clothes we want to wear. I wouldn’t worry about your age if you love it make if and wear it. I think you’d look fab xx

      I love your reply Jennett. There really is no reason why you can’t dress how you want to. The sagebrush looks so different in a drapey fabric - the shoulders don’t puff as much. Happy sewing xx

    Lovely makes as always, and soooo much! I'm in awe of how much you sew 😊. I'm so in love with the nova, defo going on my list for next summer. I love both your sorrento's, I have one cut out, don't know why I'm half afraid to give it a go! I must do it, mines in a cord too.
    Your Heidi dress is just gorgeous. And those matching dresses at the end, aaaaahhh so cute! I loved the little twirl with your daughter 😊. Always so much info, so helpful, thank you x

      Thank you so much for watching. The nova is a fab jumpsuit pattern and so comfortable too! Go for it with the sorrento - it’s really not as difficult as I thought just lots of swapping of needles and threads for the top stitch xx

    Really lovely makes as always! I quite like Ellie and Mac kids patterns (although my little ones are younger than yours so I'm not sure how big they go). They also do a "wacky Wednesday" where they discount a selection of patterns every Wednesday!

    I empathize with you in regards to working with fussy or overly complicated children patterns. Love Notions has patterns for up to age 16 for children, & Made 4 Mermaids up to age 14, or so. Also take a look at Ellie & Mac and Rebecca Page patterns. I do enjoy seeing your vlogs. Thank you.

      Thank you for watching. The jumpsuit for my girls is a great pattern but I just felt there was too much unnecessary fuss. Thanks for the tips with other pattern companies - I just want to be able to make simple clothes for my girls they can wear everyday 😆 xx

    Hi Liz loved that you had two makes videos this month. It felt like an extra treat! Especially loved the Nova jumpsuit. You look great in it. Your girls look extra cute in their jumpsuits too. As far as a great selection of "unfussy" kids clothes i always find that Ellie and Mac have lots to choose from.😊

    Hi Liz really enjoyed all your makes you are so clever and wish I was as motivated as you. I am lucky to have 2 sewing machines and use of my daughters when needed. Like now because both of mine are in need of services and we are in lockdown and can’t cross the border. I am trying to make a shirt for myself and just can’t manage it 😢 I have been sewing for many years but not making clothes for me. I do a lot of sewing of patchwork and children and baby clothes. I am finding it’s a lot harder to make for yourself with fitting and everything. I am thinking that maybe I should start with easier patterns. I do like the Gilbert top so might look at getting it to try. I have only ever brought the big 4 patterns and they can be a bit harder to understand. I find they don’t really explain well even when they say they are easy. I love your husbands shirt you have made him and he looks absolutely gorgeous in it. A very proud sewing moment for you when your family adores their makes 🥰 keep up the wonderful work and videos. 😘

      Thank you so much for watching and for such a lovely comment. Such a great idea to have two machines - I need a back up of mine breaks or has to go in for a service! I really missed my machine 😫 Glad to have it back now though. Oh no so sorry to hear you’re struggling to make a shirt. I struggled the first time I made one as there are so many fiddly bits! I do find indie patterns have clearer instructions. I’m currently making the Gilbert pattern and would recommend it as the instructions are great plus it’s meant to be loose fitting so in terms of getting it to fit you it’s easier. Good luck - happy to help if I can xx

    Two fab vlogs. Thank you Liz. What an incredible amount of makes. You must be super organised and decisive about your makes and your fabric choices. I could spend a week or two pondering what to make and that’s before I get round to ordering any fabric!
    Do you lose track of what you’ve made or do you have a really organised wardrobe?
    Hope September sees a settled return to school for you all.

    • @Thebakerthatsews
      @Thebakerthatsews  4 роки тому

      Thank you so much for watching. I do start my month with a list and spend a few days cutting out ready to go. Then I can just enjoy the sewing part! My wardrobe is quite well organised - I store all dresses together, tops together etc... plus I am really good now at knowing what Patterns suit me or what garments I like to wear. I don’t tend to make skirts as they don’t fit my style. I also plan my outfits for the week so rotate what I’ve got to make sure everything gets worn xx
