Great Talk Ramsey. From your description of it being reminiscent of vintage masculines it sounds like it might not be my thing but I’ll still give it the ol’ college sample. Belle ame seems more like my abstract of choice for now, but I am also waiting for something that’s a vintage feminine/unisex from antoine and eugen.

Very interesting! Eugene is an awesome person and friend,many big channels reviewed Eugene’s first fragrance but I’m sure he will never send them a bottle simply bcs he doesn’t care about none of that he just loves his friends and that to me is outstanding.the cloth is also so beautiful..great review and video brother Ramsey

My most recent pickup was Dryad by Papillon, another green chypre with a lot of galbanum. I'm excited to smell Des Cendres.

From your descriptions the notes that I suspect are Fir balsam, galbanum, violet leaf MOC replacer, Aldehyde c12 MNA (coriander), wormwood/artemisia, jasmine, animalics:(civet, atlas cedar, and cumin, labnanum) oakmoss, and sandalwood. Just for fun, I want to see what hits.
Very good guesses.. I would think pine resin because it was sticky & maybe some other animalics mixed with the civet .. but it is a fantastic perfume
There are not any big floral base 70-80’s fragrances that remind me of Des Cendres. A few Italian chypres maybe? Sergio Saldono’s White? But not really, ss white is a powdery iris bomb. Armani Beverly Hills….kind of…but that fragrance experience was overwhelming and not subtle. This fragrance is very strange in that it makes my brain think 70’s cyphre….but the floral base is so much better than anything from that era. It’s soft and subtle and all of the animalics, pine, tar and pachouli are hiding in a cloud of flowers…peaking out from time to time. I love it.
I love it too... its fantastic ... going to be the fragrance of the year for 2023 ❤️
@@RamseytheRam Wow! I can understand why. A 30 year fragrance reviewer in 2067 will be doing a review of the best vintage fragrances from the 2020’s and this will be top of the list. I think the magic of this house is two fold: 1.quality of ingredients. 2. Extraordinary blending…they have a shapeless quality…elusive and artistic. You can’t put them in a box. I’m going to buy all three.

Your description makes me think that I’ll shell out for that one eventually. It sounds like a precise vision executed flawlessly and without cliches. Would you say it’s an Antoine Lie masterpiece?

Wow, amazing review Ram!! 🙌🏼 You didn’t put the pin on the calandar but you did put a scratch on the bottle😂. “Smells like a vintage” is the highest praise coming from you. I love how you bring up that women can wear it. I wear Fahrenheit no problem as I find the florals light and airy. I have Antaeus and while I find it fascinating it’s a bit harder for me to wear but I’ll keep trying. This was a really great breakdown as usual and maybe even better because you didn’t read the notes so we really got your unadulterated impressions.
Thanks so much for that.. my pro tip is there are some serious florals in here ... even though it doesnt smell like there are florals in here ... like you are staring at the burnt tree but the flowers are in the periphery of your vision on the ground.. you glance past them... but they are there 🌼🌸🌻🌹🏵

I love them both... but I do think Des Cendres is more traditionally masculin

You just described my ideal fragrance...I live Fahrenheit and Fille an Aguille but I'm skeptical of the castoreum in this. That stuff tends to smell so bad on me and stick around on my skin and smell like literal ass.

Yes! Someone's talking about this. I received a sample a while ago when I got Belle Ame and love it. I wasn't sure I could talk about it yet 😅
I never thought about Devin but now that you mention it I see what you mean. I kinda got things like vintage Bandit. I have been trying to sort out exactly what I'm smelling. I definitely smell galbanum, maybe Anjelica, some incense and or labdanum but I haven't got it figured out yet. I do however love it 👌 I definitely get old school vintage vibes.

So this fragrance could easily be named "The spirit of the past".
I will buy Des Cendres (not really blind 'cause you've just told us what it's like) and before the first sniff, the background music must be The Sixth Symphony (Pastoral), from my idol, a genius who also loved meditations in the forests around Wien, and, of course, it was Ludwig Van Beethoven.
He was so inspired by the beauty of nature, and Eugen just reminds me on him.

That cloth is a proper cloth too. None of this dollarstore waffer-thin nonsense. THAT is how you clean a bottle. But thank GAWD you mentioned the florals in Fahrenheit. Part of the greatness of the vintage edt. That chamomile 👌 Love the comparisons Ramsey. Definitely sounds like my kinda frag. 🌳 Ps, I've since learned that anything of quality that puts me off is a great sign. A sign of imminent progress.
Yup this will get a rise out of you thats for sure... this will drive emotion one way or another... I love it after a wear and a half... but I suspect some people will struggle with it...i actually wanted the animalics turned up even more... but I am weird 😂😂😂

Glad to see Chanel Bel Respiro get some love. I think it is a really good fragrance even though it always takes a back seat. It is especially good in warm weather, but know it works all year round.

@@RamseytheRam I'm probably entering dangerous hot water territory here... but I just think they missed a trick with the bottle silhouette for a new niche brand.... if someone would draw a simple pencil outline of all my fragrances I think I'd know 99% of them for sure. for me it's like a tribute mash-up to a few french houses,even a VCA Alhambra esque design and i don't get the sense in it myself... but that said, the juice is what's doing the talking and I'll almost certainly willl be getting LDE.
Yeah i know what you mean... i think they wanted to go for the whole Chanel Exclusif / Dior Prive idea where the $ is clearly being spent on the juice not the bottle .. but there is something to be said about a beautiful bottle like an Areej Le Doré sitting in a real sandalwood box or Roja Bottle with that Cap and Chest Plate or Shalimar Bottle for example 😁🤌🤌🤌
Sounds great. I wish the brand sold smaller samples. I don’t need 2ml to make up my mind; 0.5ml can often be enough. $15 for a sample isn’t very approachable, but perhaps if the brand grows, samples will be available from third parties.
Brother, I think you need more stuff to talk about 🤣🤣 perhaps it's overhyped but ATH released new fragrances from his " personal collection" and each fragrance is 30 ml for $30. Just food for thought if you're ever wanting something new as it's new for all of us
