Great video. It's amazing how far rainwater harvesting has come. Yet it's still so simple in principle. In the driest continent on earth, this makes a *lot* of sense.
One of the BEST systems I have is so simple a 5yr old can do it! You need a 55gallon barrel and a cheap umbrella. Stick the barrel next to your house and open the umbrella and stick it down the hole and puncture the umbrella! A single rainstorm filled it up! I can now use a barrel filter and it practically eliminated my water bill lol.
Let me say from the outset I am a huge fan of your organisation. I think this video needs updating as there are way more things you could put in it. Floating Off Take Valve the easy fit tank screens and covers keeping light out..... But great video
Hi Lumanye! No, the tank doesn't need to be empty for this system to work. The system will keep capturing water and once your tank is full it will go through your overflow into your stormwater. If you would like more information or if you would like our team to design a rain harvesting system for you, please contact us at info@bmco.com.au. - Brianna
Several stages of strainers (probably 100 micron, 1 micron and .1 micron) and filters (charcoal are nice but reduce pressure greatly, ceramic can work well) and finish it with a UV tube to kill microbiotics. You can also hook it up to a reverse osmosis purifier which would make it about as pure as you could possibly need it to be. If you're worried about chemical contaminants I don't know.

Here in Africa we do it very simply. Collect the rain in open gutters, shunt it to tank, boil the water and use :-)

it would be great if u wrote the names of each steps, great video btw
What treatment do you suggest to make the water drinkable ?
