    JB Weld the pocket and jam in a new bearing and seal on the crank. Got nothing to loose but time and cost of the JB... LOL

    Just because you own a saw doesnt mean you know how to use it. Homeowner saws see a ton of abuse from idiots, dull chains, stale fuel, and a monkey on the trigger end. Always a gamble when you pick one up.

    These same saw abusers write bad reviews about the poor saws they killed and how the retailer/manufacturer won't stand behind the product. One guy complained about his Echo 590s chain continuing to get loose. In his attempt to fix his problem he torqued the bar nuts to 40 lb/ft breaking the clutch cover trying to drive the adjuster pin through the bar while not aligned with the hole in the bar, also managed to pull one bar stud loose.

    Damn shame. Im surprised it has a plastic bottom half since the 455/460 are clamshell but the bottom is metal.
    If it were mine and i already had the parts, I'd be tempted to try and true that bearing pocket up with epoxy!

    Wish I could say I've never seen that. I like the clam shell saws that have their own aluminum bottom. The plastic bottom is crap. The 350 and 450 saws all fry sooner or later, if you don't get the muffler unplugged, and get some more fuel going.

    I got 25 years of good use out of my Husqvarna 40 clamshell saw. It's a good limbing saw and good for smaller diameter logs. As with any saw, don't abuse them.

    We see meltdowns all the time because people run their saws with the chain brake on. Duh.

    @Novice Lumberjack just re-bore its oil pump from OEM 1.5mm hole to 3mm hole.....and drill additional pick-up hole for oil on its bar....that way you will get more oil on a bar....and you wont burn plastic parts! ;)

    Would you consider the Echo 4910 a "Clamshell" saw also i own the stihl models of MS 171/180 2 of the ms 271's a MS291 and my largest saw the MS 391 ive never owned a Husqvarna in the saw series only a couple of their dirtbikes is all. But im curious if any of my current saws listed above are considered clamshell in your opinion, so i can definitely be more cautious on the hotter temps. Hate to ruin a nice saw simply not knowing that a little info can go a long way in that department. Thanks man. Love your videos keep them coming

      @zeromark202 Рік тому

      Echo 4910 is a split case bolt-on cylinder. All the Stihl models you have are plastic clamshell.

    Even if you fix it It'll throw chains constantly why doesn't Husqvarna fix the 450 chain problem ?

      maybe it is the drive wheel? If it's worn it will stretch the chain. Easy fix.

    Has nothing to do with being a clamshell. I’ve seen the same on metal cases. They will spin a bearing and ruin the case half.

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  Рік тому +3

      Not disagreeing, but with further inspection the bearing seems fine. I don't think it spun the bearing. It just got so hot that it melted the case. Could be wrong though.

    • @Fueler
      @Fueler Рік тому

      @@novicelumberjack it’s always the PTO side. Bearing will get hot and seize then when the bearing cools it will spin fine again. Seen it many times.

      @@novicelumberjack I’m glad you came back at the end of your video and explained what happened because that’s exactly what happened. I really appreciate and enjoy watching your videos but this is not the fault of a clamshell design.
