Used my E4 for the first time and am very impressed. I have laminate flooring and it did a terrific job. I can see that I will have to do some prep work to clear things it doesn’t like. I was surprised how well it performed in corners and underneath tables. I appreciate the quality, too. Haven’t tried the mop setting yet. Thank you for this review and comparisons to other robo vacs.
I have it and yes, long hair actually gets entangled quite badly and it's tricky to remove from the brush, I had to use a cutter in order to remove the hair from the threads (just pulling doesn't work) and a screw driver to remove the little hair roll that it made on the edges (couldn't remove the plastic things) I have had it for a few days and it does a good job. I wish they'd let us see the internal map it creates, if it didn't create a map it couldn't return to the charging station so efficiently as it does.

I bought this for 259 when it came out. I wanted a cheap one because I only have a couple of rooms to clean. It's the first robot vacuum I ever had. It cleans great and I highly recommend. Only downfall is that the sensors can't see black furniture very well and it will head straight into it at full speed. I solved this by putting some colorful painters tape around the bottoms of my bed posts. Was sceptical at first but this vacuum totally surpassed my expectations and imo for the price is an amazing step forward in this department
Dual Gyroscope and Optical Eye. I guess this is like Inertial Navigation and an optical mouse that tracks the surface. Really interested in where this technology goes

I got my roborock E4 today. It came with mop, water tank, 4 extra water regulators/filter and the floor protector to keep floor dry under the robot. I bought it in Scandinavia. Package content could be different elsewhere. I didn't expect the mopping equipment to be included at the price. Really glad I bought it now.
Based on this review of the E4 I bought one and took delivery yesterday. I have a two-story home, so I wanted something I could just pick up, set anywhere and hit the clean button. No-go zones are not an issue with me. While getting the software installed had some issues, I was able to resolve them and get it working with Alexa. Getting an account set up with their verification code caused time-out problems. I finally got it with Mi Home on my phone and the Roborock skill for Alexa. The Mi Home Alexa skill does nothing with the E4. So far, the E4 seems to be working okay, though the chairs in my dining room seem to make it re-vacuum carpeting it has already done several times over. Thanks for the review. It was very helpful.
I ended up returning my E4 and getting an S5 Max. It works A LOT better bc of the lidar but tbh I think I should’ve just got the S4 since I don’t plan on using the mopping ability anymore.
I recently ordered E4. My roborock s5 max sometimes struggle on the first floor of my house. It thinks it's on the second floor map and won't cross over the no go sone that belongs to the other floor. E4 will be perfect for my first floor. I've got zero need for no go zone on first floor. Because of less open floor plan on first floor. never used advance map features on my first floor. I don't like to walk the stairs with a robot vacuum under my arm.
I've got an S5 max, and I'm looking at buying a house right now. This would honestly be great as a secondary vacuum if I end up getting a bungalow where the second floor is basically just a big master bedroom. Basically just a big square that this would have no problem handling vacuuming, and have the S5 take care of the more complicated multi-room main floor.
I would be very interested to see how effectively its navigation is with an active environment. My 3 dogs are constantly moving and often in the way of my Neato. When I had a Samsung Powerbot I noticed that if something made it change its angle it wouldn't continue vacuuming in the same direction for the rest of the cleaning,
Wow it does everything a roomba 960 with twice the power and no cameras. But because of the dual brushes and the deep cleaning superiority of the roomba, I’m still fine with my purchase. This is a definite gift though.
hey is Lg's new robot vac is The Lg cordzero R9? The lg cordzero r9 has camera that can detect people and stop and will say to move it also recognizes objects, so for example if it sees a couch it would sense that it's the living room, it also has smart turbo mode when it a boosts up at suction when there's dirt or went it's up to a corner. It's also big so it's probably very powerful. You can also use the robot vacuum as a security camera or motion detector. It also has headlights so I can see in the dark if you turn it on, it also has a power drive head so it will probably deep clean better on carpets.

Miss my Roborock. I gave it to a friend and kept my Neato D7. Mistake. The Roborock was better than the Neato. Here's a suggestion for testing - try using several popular styles of carpet for pickup. Modern Castle did this on thick, cut pile plush and low pile looped carpet and the results varied quite a bit. In the real world, there's lots of different carpet types, so this would be more realistic than mounds of cheerios or gobs of 7" hair.
Can you please do a “best budget robot vacuum with gyroscope planning/s path/zig zag cleaning (it’s called my things) it seems either cheaoer brands tend to put this really useful feature in their vacuums to compete with the lower priced name brand robot vacuums that don’t put this feature in their cheaper lines or sometimes not even their mid tier lines but their high end lines, thanks!
Have you looked at xiaomi robot vacuum 1c? It use a top mounted camera to map your house, it have most of the features of expensive robots that use LIDAR.
04:34 The Roborock E4 does have a map in the app, if you look in cleaning history. So technically they could add the no-go zones. They just choose not to, as a differentiation between the E and S series.
I got mijia 1c. It was a pain to setup the smart map, but after it completed the smart map, it works awesome. I need the smart map to block bathroom, etc.

Hi, I've been watching your videos all morning trying to decide what robot vacuum/mop to get. I'm stuck between the E4 with mop, the original (?) roborock with the mop, and the ILIFE A10. Will you do a review on the ilife one? It is the cheapest robot vacuum with a mop and LIDAR that I have found and not sure if it's too good to be true and how it compares with the roborocks!
Over 2 years later, can you still say good things about this vacuum? I see it on Amazon for $170 and it seems like this should do great at keeping my apartment clean, and picking up all the loose cat litter.
@@verynick I ended up buying one, price was too good to pass up! I can see where it would be less ideal in a larger home without being able to set 'no go' boundaries. But for the main room and kitchen in my apartment it works perfectly. Had to tape up some cables here and there and I have to make sure my chair blocks the PC cables, but aside from those things I've gotten it dialed to where it can complete runs unassisted. Should probably get some white tape on my black furniture though because it just runs full speed into some things. Haven't tried the mop feature yet though.

Is Xiaomi 1C (or whatever name they use for different countries) being officially sold in the US? It seems like a bargain of a robot, I got mine for about $220 here in Russia. It's pretty much the same as E4, but has a camera-based navigation system, an included mopping pad, 2500 pascal of power, it maps the house and you can set no-go lines in the app.
So not having no-go lines is that a weakness of the technology or just a marketing decision by RoboRock to separate the product lineup? Great video by the way!
I have the S4 and judging by the way it maps in real-time with the LIDAR sensor, I would say it is actually a limit caused by the hardware cut to lower the price of the E4. The ones with LIDAR can actively map the whole room while moving around to be able to tell where they are in relation to the no-go lines. It is actually pretty amazing.
It's the weakness of the technology, I think. The only robot vacuum without LIDAR that can make a map and have no go lines, etc is xiaomi robot vacuum 1c. It use a top mounted camera instead. I wonder who's the ODM tho, as the design is pretty similar with roborock.

Very reliable robot vacuums but the issue with roborocks are carpets. The brushes tend to soften up quickly within 4 months thereby reducing pick up efficiency. Apart from this, they quite solid.
Have you tried trimming the brushes instead? I cut a quarter inch off the brushes on my ILIFE A9 because they were helping it ride up on a 2 inch thick plush shag rug. Additionally, they were scraping the wheels so much that it actually would bend the bristles the opposite direction over time. Trimming the brushes a quarter inch fixed both issues. It also seems to scrape dirt from right against the baseboard, and it doesn't scatter larger debris as much.
This is seriously one of the best reviews of any product I’ve ever seen. Not the product it self but the way the author presents the info. Bravo sir!!

That map is created during the cleaning. It is not loaded before the cleaning. The "passive" sensor doesn't provide enough precision to map objects.

Yup, I love mine! I’m about to buy my 3rd one and give it as a gift. It’s a good basic non LiDAR vacuum but uses pattern cleaning

Hi! does the "OpticEye" or some other sensor prevents it from falling down the stairs?
The cliff detection sensors stop it from falling.

Very true about the side brush. I have heard people replacing it with an actual brush instead of polymer/rubber type it came with
