I spent 3+ years in the UK at RAF Upper Heyford Air Plane Patch. While there got involved in the New Sport of Drag Racing. Became part of the Hustler Racing Team eventually sponsored by Sir John Woolfe. He had 2 Shelby Cobras. One was r/hand and other L/hand drive. Drove both plus his M-8 McLaren. Right place at right time.

Im not that worried about the sychros not lining up as they do anyway as since you kicked down the clutch pedal there is no load on the gearbox.. you should be more worried about your clutch spinning slower then the flywheel and pressure plate.. as that will wear out a clutch overtime if you drive your car hard..
Reminds me of the many summer's of my youth that I'd spend with my uncle. He had a 69 Mustang GT 500 and a 67 Chevelle SS 396. Going for long rides to the lake where the only song in the air was that of a Ford or Chevy V8 roaring. Always thought it was funny how often DPS or Sheriff's Deputy would pull us over. They'd squawk for him to step out of the car. They always walked up talking smack to each other, shake hands and/or half hugs, he'd reach in to pop the hood, and they'd spend 15-20 mins talking about....? Ex-soldier stuff. Marine infantry Vietnam, family, work, life, what's been done to this engine, and they each wanted dibs if he ever felt like selling one of them. I never recognized them when they were at the boat docks waiting to go out with for fishing. Lol, only now in my later years did I realize how much more cool he was than what I had already thought. Due to his relationship with all the law enforcement officers in the area, many he had come to know from their mutual service in Vietnam. Apparently doing 4 tours there made you part of an extended brotherhood when you got home. I always wondered why he was able to open up his cars on the road and never got a ticket that I saw. More than one occasion a squad car would come up on us with it's rollers all lit up, pull up alongside, and then both of these madmen clearly regressed to their senior year of high school and proceeded to a rolling burn out and 1/4 mile open throttle display of speed. Both laughing their heads off. I wonder to this day what the regular people on the road thought was going on. Heck they probably all knew who and what was going on. My cousins ended up with the machines. As far as I know they have resisted all efforts to buy either one. Fun times 1979-87 Dallas Texas.
