Does 'partir" (a verb of movement) take etre or avoir in the passe compose? It is a verb of movement, and at least one textbook I have says it does.

@@EricaNernie btw the rule of thumb is for etre, the verbs are DR and MRS VANDERTRAMP, each letter pertaining to a different verb

Bonjour ! Because "du" is a partitive article, and we don't use it for languages. --> J'apprends le français.
