  • Very likely this will be the only video on UA-cam where you will see the new Special Limited Edition of the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 "TITAN". This lens is limited to 100 units worldwide and is expected to be a fantastic investment for Leica collectors. In this video I unbox the lens, provide a detailed description of the lens, compare it with the silver-chrome Noctilux-M 50/0.95 and also talk about differences in engineering, pricing, expected price increase and various other topics. I also show the Noctilux "TITAN" side-by-side with the silver-chrome Noctilux-M 50/1.2 which is another very rare and valuable Leica lens which was also limited to 100pc and sold out immediately back then. Enjoy the show :)

Beautiful lens but for that price they should have included a titanium protective filter.

Congrats on the acquisition of your new lens. I have ? Not related to this vid. I have a sensor cleaning kit & the swabs have ever so slight cats ears on the cleaning edge. Like in all the vids, I put a small drop or 2 on the sensor swab & went one way, turned the swab over & did it again. Just made a big smear. Considering that was the first time I cleaned my sensor, (6 years) made a little nervous that made of messed up the sensor. 3 remaining swabs, same thing. The kit came with moist wipes so I opened one up, folded it & put on the end of one of the used swabs & lucky enough, it worked. So I just ordered another kit & I see those small little points at the very outside edges of the swabs. I thought maybe this was holding the swab up off the sensor or maybe I didn’t push hard enough it, not enough sensor cleaning solution. Are the swabs normally like this? Any advice. Just tried calling B&H but they are closed on holiday until Monday the 18th. Thank you for any replies.

It’s odd how the narrower the depth of field is the greater is the sense of depth. The focus shapes are so sharply etched against the bokeh and the result is VERY cinematic. I love it. If ever remarry, my wife is going to have to have a 0.95 aperture!

  • @rolandrickphotography

That’s a good point at 7:47. The aperture ring click resistance as well as the focus ring resistance of M lenses are often far too loose straight out of the box. Specially on the tinier lenses like the Summilux-M 50 you move the focus lever with the index finger and I accidentally touch often also the aperture ring, changing the aperture and not being aware of it. I purchase all my Leica gear at the Leica Store Zürich and the very friendly team there helps immediately by sending it to Leica Switzerland for tightening that click resistance. Normally you have your lens back within a few days. However, that issue should be somehow addressed to Wetzlar. The aperture and focus ring resistance should be more firm straight out of the box.

Thank you very much for this wonderful video. As I've come to expect with you, the slide show at the end was the best part. I especially liked the model of the 1960s VW Type 2, and even more I liked the monochrome portraits.

    Nice review,
I’m not a fan of the Noctilux, but the titan version looks amazing. By the way, your camera und lenses collection must be a dream. I would have a big problem to decide my for one camera to use, like my daughter has every day to find the right pair of shoes :-)

Wonder if the market price of those titanium M lenses from earlier years will go up following this reissued noctilux lens. Expecting either the titanium M or SL soon.

    Beautiful lens, congrats
Smart move putting the lens cap back into the box
Like Thorsten always says, in a couple of years you can buy an Island when you sell that cap.
And the funny thing is that the lens is worth more at the end of the video than in the beginning ;-)
Now number 5 is more than great, the lower the better, but number 50 will be cool too.
I wonder what the SL3 will bring us , hopefully later this year.
    Good things are comming.
Have lots of fun with the lens and I wish you many many great images.

    • @mathphotographer
      @mathphotographer  Рік тому

@@mathphotographer I totally agree. The investment value should be in the photos one takes with the lens, not in the lens itself.
