I love this version as well as the 13th Floor Elevators... This one just a bit better, because I ADORE Radio Birdman... *The Saints & Radio Birdman - proof that there's more in Australia than vegemite, Men at Work, AC/DC, kangaroos and funnel web spiders!* and YES THERE ARE 12" 45s! I have a Gang of Four promo 12" 45 of I Love a Man In A Uniform. Also, don't even try to compare these guys to AC/DC. Blues-based hard rock is completely different from punk.
@elementz1986 ac/dc were pretty much an underground band just until right before Bon died. You really can't compare that version of the band to the one after and they were miles better than radio birdman. It's kind of a stupid comparison to begin with as they sound nothing alike though. I can name other Aus bands like the masters apprentices, missing links, etc that should of been bigger too it really makes no difference.
If you get a chance -check out my band "the dirt rotters" version - probably a cross between this and the original. although I first heard the Birdman version in 1980 - I only got the original version a few years back. this kicks arse
@murfdasurfer to me Birdman is a kind of wannabe stooges. AC/DC with Bon was something truly special but again they really shouldn't even be compared as their only similarity is that they are both from Sydney and the same time period.
@murfdasurfer I like them and all but there's so many better bands out there. AC/DC didn't go totally commercial until Brian but you could argue that they made their sound more mainstream when they stopped working with Vanda and Young, but that was their last album with Bon. I've seen and heard shows by both. All you need to do is watch footage with Bon in ac/dc to know who the better band was live. AC/DC were not commercial rockers in the 70s- they played dives until like '78.
Did not expect to stumble across Birdman here... the memories!
one of the 20 best records ever recorded
The jazz bassist?
great version, in loving memory of ROKY ERICKSON (r.i.p.)
I finally heard them in 2000 and since then have been waiting to see them live. Amazing band.
There was NOTHING that sounded like this in 1977. These guys have to have set Australia on fire back then.
Nice rendition of the classic Roky Erickson & the 13th Floor Elevators classic❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Roky will like it, won't he. But despite Radio Birdman he's still the best ever.
Saw Birdman do this live at Sydney's Enmore 3-4 years ago WOW! Truly channelling brilliance with brilliance!
Great cover!
Awesome! Love this song, Birdman do a bonza job of it
fine cover of the 13th Floor Elevators classic; hard work but they gave it new life
Love both groups, but what I miss is the electric jugs. I'm gonna miss them, baby. I'm gonna miss them, child, yeah, yeah.
boogabooga boogga boogga booga boogabooga booga booga booga!
Veryyyy!!! Good cover version!
Driving music. L.A. to Vegas.
You ``can clearly hear influences from the 70s'', as this was recorded in the 70s. Birdman broke up in '78, before reforming mid '90s.
Birdman forever
amazing cover
Merci Radio Homme-Oiseau !!

@Aussieshane73 This is so very true.

@raindogred
Overrated is the key word....like Aussieshane72 said Radio Birdman shoulda been bigger.
i dunno, 13th floor elevators' feels better. but yea, it's fun
great version but not Roky thou eh..?
What can you say! What I really want is Roky

this sound is really fuck
@loudspaghetti
Yeah...AC/DC kinda sucked.
There is no such thing as a 45 12". It's either a 45 or a 12".
Yes there is. I own one.
Maxi single
dmz did a better cover :)
