      Grape Draaaaank !!!! My favourite ! What size air compressor do you recommend and is that an 3/8 " air line? Please tell some details of setting up the glass-blaster !!!! Can I use it to do the whole car including underneath to prepare the bottom for rust proofing?

    • @themechanic6117
      @themechanic6117  5 років тому

      Yes it's a 3/8 I think my tank is a 20 gal n it works fine the compressor just runs a lot so a bigger tank would be ideal. I suppose you could you it on a car but it would take forever

    I have a 20+ year old 4 gallon, 2 HP, 2.6 scfm at 90 psi Campbell Hausfeld compressor. At 50 psi it should be adequate to meet the 50 psi, 3.5 cfm minimum air requirement, yet when I tried it, no media would move through the blaster. The media was Harbor Freight's 80 grit glass bead same as you are using. I could see it lying in the air bleed hole at the exit from the container.
    After some thinking, I took the gun apart and found it was assembled wrong. The nozzle inside has a gasket and an O ring. The nozzle had been assembled and inserted backwards. The nozzle has small hole which should go towards the ceramic nozzle. That small hole is centered right above the media input. It is what creates the vacuum via the Venturi effect to pull the media up. When it was put in backwards, a large hole was over the media input which created almost no vacuum. It works fine now even with a small compressor.

The nozzle that comes with the blaster is too wide, so I purchased the 3/32 nozzles and the base is thinner, so the set screw dosen't hold it in place. You can use white vinegar two or three gallons put it inside a 5 gallon bucket let it sit submerged overnight take it out the next day with a heavy stream of water wash it off wipe it then down with a clean Rag and then lightly oil it it'll be as good as new. You might have to get a toothbrush to get into hard-to-reach areas of the tools or other type of tools to get in there and scrub the crap out very efficient.
