Just watching this theory and how Riku might have to be used as a vessel for all of the most powerful Darknesses, I'm just reminded of one line he said to Ansem before facing him back in Dream Drop Distance that almost screams this to your face. "Consume the darkness. Return it to light."
Based on what Nomura stated recently regarding the Crossroads, I believe That the Master of Masters and the Ancient Darkness (the Demon) made a Contract. The Book of Prophecies is That Magic Contract. And the Child of Destiny was The Master of Masters's Escape Clause. A way so Darkness doesn't prevail.
2:51 player doesn’t tell Xehenort that the child of destiny will be a descendant of ephemer. They say they strongly think Xehenort is the child of destiny because Xehenort is his descendant 😊
Yeah I was like “that’s not at all what was stated.” Good theory though. But I personally believe Player character reincarnates as Sora on D.I., because Sora is the Main playable character, funny; and player character happened to reincarnate his second life in the same place his first life ended, so why not his second to third life where he passed away, in D.I. All the clues given from old man Player Character could basically be call backs to small moments in Sora’s journey.
I personally don't think Riku is the child of Destiny. Everything we know about the Child Of Destiny directly relates more to Sora, rather than Riku. Hails from the isle of Destiny - Sora and Riku You will meet and interact with many people - This is more Sora than Riku. Sora's entire journey is him meeting with, interacting with, and connecting his heart with many people. It's emphasized by the secret ending of BBS (Blank Points I think?), where everyone calls Sora's name and Ansem tells Aqua about a "special boy that connects the hearts of others, and has saved the world countless times". I can't make this same argument for Riku. We are able to find all of the heroes of light in KH3 thanks to Sora's connection. Those interactions will shape your emotions, your thoughts, and lead you down your destined path - could make an argument for both, but we consistently see Sora's ideals and actions being influenced by the people he interacts with, even up till KH3. Riku's arc is mostly resolved by the end of COM, and maybe arguably DDD. By then, he is confident in who he is and he pretty much knows his path. They beat us over the head that dispite Sora being more than qualified to be a keyblade master, he doesn't have that concrete confidence in who he is and that he needs those interactions to define him. It's reinforced when everyone "dies" in KH3, and he looses his shit - and it's reinforced by his iconic phrase "my friends are my power". "I learned that light would expire and darkness prevail... The child of destiny would change this outcome... They would have the ability to feel, share and embrace what others feel in their hearts" - this is a 1:1 description of everything Sora does throughout the series and what takes place at the end of KH3, there's no concrete way to stretch this to be Riku. Riku's belief in Sora enables him to do this, along with his and Kairi's light. Sora, at the tender age of 0, felt the heart of Ventus and connected and mended it. Sora at the age of 4 did the same thing - visibly shedding a tear because "he felt someone was sad", and even let Ven sleep in his heart after it shattered. A lot of this is epmphasized by "Blank Points" (I'm pretty sure that's the name of the secret ending) and the fact that he is responsible for bringing everyone together. I'd even argue that Sora's feat extends to connecting with the hearts (keyblades in this case) of the fallen keyblade warriors and using them in the fight, the highlight being him connecting with Ephemer himself. Then there's the power of waking, which is pretty much the final nail in the coffin that reinforces all of the characteristics of the child of destiny. There are other lore bits that tie more into it being Sora than Riku, but those are the main ones that stand out.
Riku sacrificing himself as the child of destiny and Sora bringing him back with true love aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa my heart is mush 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞 Thank you for the video!
Excellent as always, Sky! I’m glad you brought all the evidence into one video. I agree with you that Riku is probably the Child of Destiny, which involves being a sacrifice. You presented everything in an organized and logical way.
5:11 It's even more interesting now that Nomura mentioned crossroads holding a symbolic value. He chooses the middle road on that path at end of CoM 13:27 Our hearts must be connected because I literally rewatched that scene today, wondering what MoM could have meant by that line 15:06 mmm this really does imply that one of their tasks is to be a vessel of darkness. I don't think the blue robed player knew this, since he said the CoD would be destined by darkness time and time again, never giving in. 16:07 Absolutly cooking 16:59 Wasn't that scene taking place in Ventus' heart? I think Vanitas, or some other darkness perhaps(?) is still inside Ventus, not Sora's. 19:36 Sora could have gotten the power of waking simply by connecting his heart with Riku's, since Riku gained it at the end of DDD. I wasn't convinced that Riku's been in love with Sora, but I've hopped on that wagon after seeing so much evidence in recent months. Can't wait to see it explored in kh4 Thank you for the great video!
I think Riku and Sora are the Child of Destiny, Two as One but Two. Riku's Light chose Sora. Riku was Chosen by KINGDOM HEARTS. For God so loved a Boy that he became a boy to love the boy. (See Dream Drop, the scene where Xigbar freaks out. Riku as Sora's Dream Eater is in Sora's Heart as that scene takes place)
I really enjoyed this video! It brought together all the hints that have been dropped about the child of destiny and backed it up well with what's happened in The Xehanort Saga together. I really do think Riku is the child of destiny since he's been teased for so long as being special and the 20th anniversary video showed baby Riku along with some text implying his importance. It's also been clearer with each game that Sora and Riku's hearts are connected by how close their heart stations get to each other by the time of KH3
As a super Stan of kh, I am SO glad that I was recommended your video. (Side note I think your accent is really cool. Everything you say sounds fancier somehow) this theory is amazing so far and I love it because it makes so much sense! Also as an artist myself I think your avatar is so freakin cool. So much personality and yet it feels exactly like a design you’d see in a Kh game.
This vid rocks ^^b nice run-down of a lot of the information the SoRiku circles have been playing with. Ya provided it clear & well paced. & hell yea, vid's popping off uwub nice
My mind is absolutely blown by the purpose of the Child of Destiny. It makes so much sense, I didn't know about that scene where their true purpose is mentioned and how really Riku is the only one up to the task of siphoning so much darkness into him. Along with the themes of sacrifice he already has, in particular to protect or save Sora, it makes too much sense. I could certainly see this happen in some way.
@@BondforgedSky Absolutely! I already knew about Riku likely being the child of destiny along with the one his heart connecting to likely being Sora as a result giving Sora similar abilities. I hadn't thought we had much information though about that ultimate goal in this detail though. My mind just went, we know that they'll end that Darkness together and all that. The fact that the original translation said specifically that the Child of Destiny would take on that darkness into themselves is just. Wow. Yeah. That really only describes Riku. Only he has conquered the darkness in such a way.
I do like the idea that Sora was the "False Light" and Riku the "True King" or "True Child of Destiny." And that whole conversation between MoM and Young Xehanort about whether the "false light" Sora or the "true light" Riku was worthy to become the Child of Destiny. (Xehanort at the time thought he would become the Child of Destiny, as both he and Riku had the same worthyness traits going for them). But Honestly I think both Riku and Sora together as falsus rex and verum rex will act as a singular Child of Destiny, as those that walk the path of light are defined by the bonds they make one person alone does not make a Child of Destiny (unless that child was a child of darkness)
@@sonic4life yup, it implied that. But MoM was looking further out than Xehanort, it was also implying Sora whom stole the role of Child of Destiny from Riku. Heck, it is possible that if Nort hadn't been convinced to take the side of Darkness, he would have been a True Light/Child of Destiny
@@sh4d0wfl4re I don't agree with that interpretation. The MoM blatantly looks at Xehanort's ideas and basics says, "you should definitely play the role, but it ain't you", albeit cryptically. I believe Xehanort believed he was the child of destiny up until the end (or near the end). He may have realized the truth at the end, but he was operating on the knowledge that he was the child of destiny from the beginning (which is why he wanted to remake the world). I don't think anything about Riku or Sora was implied by that scene.
No, But it is implied that Ephermer is the Founder of Scala, and the King of the Nexus of Worlds, so if you were Descended from Ephermer, it's a point in your favor.
@Fragmentsinfractals488 being descended from Ephemer isn't a requirement for being the child of destiny, but it is a reason why the player character was sure (and somewhat biased) that it was Xehanort.
Just watched an alchemic video about kingdom hearts and soras crown necklace and its impressive how close it is to this when its basically saying Sora will fall to darkness. everything points to Sora being MoM.
I definitely think the intended Child of Destiny is Roku! Being a descendant of ephemer has nothing to do with the child of destiny, the player just said that because Xehanorth is a descendant of a great keyblade master
Also, As the Child of Destiny (Soriku) Riku is a Sun, a Transmitter of Light. Sora is the Receiver of that Light (The Moon reflects the Sun). Riku pushes out Light and does Action that cause the Story. Sora receives those Acts and Reacts to them. Push and pull. For example, Riku created the Keyblade of People's Hearts and is the thing that causes Kairi's Heart to be in Sora. Sora reacts to this by using the Keyblade on himself. But Riku's Light put the Kingdom Key in Sora, so Sora's reaction creates Roxas and Namine. They are The Shadow of Sora and Kairi but contain traces of both The Ancient Darkness and Riku's Light. Riku acts, Sora reacts.

I've been on this thought process for a while. Riku is the REAL protag, and sora is his emotional support friend
