Thank for the instructions... however I have had no luck finding the manual on the HR site for a Nissan Navara Ute D23 2020. Can you provide a link please?
I’m after a brake controller and looking at the compact iq, I have a Hayman Reese towbar on a 2019 triton and found the smart link blue plug but can’t find for the life of me that smaller black plug. I got the tow bar installed though ARB. Do they not all come with with this black plug?
@@stephencrocker3943 I got a compact iq. Don’t need to connect the black plug unless you want the 12pin plug for a van. I only have a camper trailer. Easy install too!
To all you ...newbies out there. You cannot just buy a brake controller for a Dodge Ram pick up. Even if you have the tow package. You must also buy the brake controller adapter harness wiring......... Just bought a Reese Towpower Brake Evnn compact brake controller and tried to install in tow package ram 2014. No luck. This controller comes with one 4 pin box like connector. Called number inside package and was told need to run red wire to brake area. There is no separate red wire. Looked it up and founds a site that offered customer service, You have to buy harness with separate red wire. So then ordered: a Reese Towpower® - 2 Plug Brake Control Adapter Harness, This thing comes with one end having a 4 pin connector and the other end has 2 grey boxed connectors. One of the 2 connectors is just for the red wire that goes to a terminal that is somewhere near the brake. This is for the brake signal light connector. The other gray box goes to a box hanging under your steerwheel dash. If you do not have a prewired tow package, you may also need to buy and install a long 7 pin/plug wire that goes all the way to the back of your vehicle. Please see other information sources about this for better information, mine was prewired and I am also a new to this towing life. more details on - www.carid.com/2014-dodge-ram-trailer-hitches/reese-towpower-2-plug-brake-control-adapter-harness-1583486417.html. This site offers software that allow customer to plug in make and model of your vehicle. Just found it. Why is this so hard? No one really seem to come out and say you need a wiring harness with a brake controller, even if you had a factory installed tow package when vehicle purchased. Anyway, I watched this video about 5 times. I cannot really understand the gentleman. He but does not show enough about the wiring. Please show me where the plugs are, what they look like, how many pins they have. What do I need as adapters? Maybe have someone repeat what he says in a different dialect of English. Not trying to complain. Just need really good instructions that are easy to understand to buy and use this product. Not very many good videos on this subject around the net. Thank you for what I did learn on this video. Would love to see one more specific. Maybe about the product I ordered.
Hi Bumble Bee, thank you for your feedback. Reese is a different brand to us here at Hayman Reese. We are based in Australia so our vehicle wiring is slightly different to vehicles in the U.S.A. Certain U.S. vehicles such as your Dodge Ram may come partially pre-wired for a brake controller fitment however are not specific to any brand of brake controller, which does make fitment different. We recommend you speak with Reese Customer Service on 800.234.6992 for assistance, their team will be able to help you out.
I connected mine like you did but I noticed there is no ignition wire. The brake controller is always on even with car turned off. Or can the guardian IQ somehow turn off?
I have a cushion the electric brakes only works with the brake controller?, I dont have a break controller in my truck and the electric brakes in my trailer does not work.
Hi Maye, the best way to get advice on that issue is to contact our Customer Service Department on 1800 812 017 and they can help talk you through the issue.
Hey guys. I have located the blue connector at the back but don't have a small black connector. Do I need to connect this? Or is it an either or thing?
Where can I find out how to wire a 7 blade trailer brake light and brake harness on a 1970 Chevy truck? What is the correct way to wire it in the fuse box? I really do not want to tap the 7 blade round into the existing truck lights, I would like it to have it's own dedicated wiring.
I purchased the unit, installed the whole thing in 1 afternoon. Wasn't as bad as I thought. I didn't have a hayman smart click harness so I connected it to the 7 pin socket. Ran all cables along the chassis. Very easy 👍

Your electric brakè install showed none of the running under the vehicle with wires or front of cab.?0 Not a good instruction!!!! How about some good shots of the wiring from the front to the back totaly thanks
He keeps saying “Simply”. This installation stopped being simple the moment he opened the panels and exposed the interior wiring, then to cut brake wires and shit? Nah man, I ain’t about to have one of those “Final destination” moments man.

The brake controller will put itself to sleep after some time and uses minimal charge so won’t have a large affect on your battery.

My battery is in the boot, would I need to extend power off the battery up to the front of the car?
This is over my head, I think I'll pay someone to install it. Good video though

how much does it cost for them to make the holes in it so you can put it in?
How is this thing connected to the car's brakes? I have a 4 pin (factory installed) and so far not a single video can show / explain that.
