Put the new bearings on the inside and the older ones on the outside it will be easier to replace when one good out, also put a new shaft on the front gang but on a rainy day weld up the old one and grind smooth, that spare shaft will save you some day!!
Those 230's ridge like crazy, they only bring scrap price around here as well. Their is a reason for that. Dad and I bought a new 230, kept it one season and traded if for a new International disk. I wouldnt mess with welding those shafts, they are stretched more than likely, thats why the blades are loose. A bad disc job will haunt you for years in fields. Takes along time to get the ridges out.. I would consider passing it on to someone else and looking at an International 490/496.
If you can weld you can weld those worn spots in on the shaft and grind it off smooth with a grinder. It’s not a perfect fix but it works. Did you have any luck getting a 12 row planter?

Out of adjustment obviously.
Personally I would build up the worn area of the shaft ,then reshape it with the grinder, good as new.that ram prolly needs replacing tho.
You know I thought about that I will see what the price is for new and then decide on that and I’m thinking the ram needs to be replaced too.
