Doctors don't have to be serious ALL the time! We are allowed to laugh at ourselves and funny things about our profession. What better way than to look at some hilarious medical MEMES? After all, memes are a great way to laugh together whether or not you are in medicine or radiology. The best part about memes, and especially medical memes, is that they are so relatable!
I thought it was going to be hard to find enough Radiology themed memes to fill an entire video, but then I realized there are a TON of Radiology specific memes out there...and even MORE medical memes.
If you like this video please share it with everyone you know and if you want me to do more meme reviews, let me know in the comments below! If you have any funny medical or radiology memes, by all means send them to me via email or DM on Instagram (@drcellini).
So watch this video and laugh with me...since laughter is the BEST medicine!
    Hope you all enjoy! -Michael

As an RT(R)(MR)(CT) technologist, some of you are VERY scary and sometimes not so nice lol. But the rest are super sweet and approachable when we have questions. Honestly, it is usually when we are new that we creep up because it is awkward and terrifying to speak with the docs.

ed nurse here, cannot tell you how many pt's come in almost rolling on the floors with and pain, and its always ct with contrast=0. Last night the quietest, sweetest lady came in with abd pain.. said it might be gas, no real complaints of pain, no fever, great labs...ct with contract ordered, and appendicitis ! Surg consult comes down and checks out pt, and says to me " are we sure she has appendicitis, I have never seen a pt in such little pain". I read the radiology report and yup..she has it!
There is so much over ordering..but you never really know until you guys get in there! Kudos

Chiari person here. I used to have no issues with going into the MRI or CT scanner. Last one, I went all crazy, crying, begging, pleading to get out. They let me out obviously. Tried again a few layers with xanax before, nope. Ended up sedated. I am afraid to go back. I was never claustrophobic before so I’m not sure what changed. I hope you’re doing well.

Now.. you mentioned the MRI. Yes.. they are quite loud. However, for me. It's the tube shape that gets me. Found out the hard way that I am, indeed, claustrophobic... Now I have to drive an hour away to go to an open MRI. Once I find a beat to the noises I can just zone out. I totally think open mri's should be mainstream. At least where I'm located. Open mri's are so cool though. Btw.. what on earth happened to the person's hand?! I laughed out of sheer bewilderment! How?!

Airports have x-rays to detect anything hidden on your person and they have CT machines for baggage. Although they are extremely similar to medical imaging devices, airport scanners use a lot less ionizing radiation since the purpose is to simply penetrate fabric or plastic. However, in medicine, xrays need to be able to penetrate past subcutaneous fat, tissue, fascia, and organs to have the ability to observe bone.

Interesting. If any TSA folks want to give me access to their scanners I will do a whole video on it!

    • @BrotherMarkinter

Radiology tech here chiming in about the TSA scanners. You can find some basic info online but no one is going to give you access to their scanners from TSA. It's classified, to some extent, under Homeland Security and you'll ring quite a few alarm bells by playing around with one and posting it online.
That being said, you can take a peek at the specs for these machines online as vendors advertise for government and non-government buyers. Here's one model that is similar to what TSA uses without TSA software. Specs are listed in the brochure: pointsecurityinc.com/hi-scan-6040-2is/

Minute 5 of the video, you are talking about patients coming in long after an injury. I have been in the radiography field for years. This probably before cable TV, but I asked a patient what brought them to the hospital. The response was "There wasn't anything good on TV, so I thought I would see why my hand hurts."

My mom fell on vacation in Spain, the next day she flew to Frankfurt, stayed with family for 3 days, then flew back to the US by herself, and finally a week after getting home (10 days after the fall) went to the Dr cuz the pain wasn't getting any better. (She used a wheelchair to get around the house, but still showered, including stepping in and out of the tub, by herself) X-ray showed she had a fractured pelvis. It wasn't the money issue, she just didn't want to waste time, especially since after the fractured was diagnosed, she was told "There's no treatment for it. Just stay off it." It just adjusted her expectations of healing time.

I waited ten about a week to come in about two fractures in my foot when I was 15. I was running through the house chasing a cat and my pinky toe caught a doorframe and fractured two bones in my foot (not dramatically, I think they were even hairline fractures). My dad brushed it off and was like "walk it off. If it was broken, you wouldn't be walking right now." 😂 Turns out you can walk on a fractured foot, it just hurts a lot, consistently. I mean mugged him so hard when they talked to me about my x-ray and sent me to an orthopedist.
To be fair, a fracture was also not the first thing on my mind because when I imagined a broken foot, I always thought about dropping stuff on it or being in a car accident rather than a toe getting pulled too far to one side. I figured if there was a break, it would be the toe itself. I've had broken fingers 7 times as a clumsy individual, so I thought "I know what to look for in a broken finger, surely a toe would be similar."
I learned to listen to my body and not dismiss pain so much, which has been hard because I've always been very sensitive to pain. 😂 If it feels wrong and persists, at least go to urgent care!

They make open MRI systems. It looks like a hamburger bun, and top and bottom, but no sides. You have to make sure it's what we call a high field, because if it's a low strength the pictures don't look good. Depending on the exam, you can turn your head and look out. Have to be careful though because most implants aren't tested on an open system.
