Any chance you shopped at big daddy’s in 2019. I worked there. I live in lake city and just started building my first AK. Your videos are great.
Realizing how much easier an 80% AR is compared to a DIY AK.
Great how to videos. I built 2 East German AKM's about 2 year's back. One fixed stock and a side folder. A little advise to first time builder's, don't drill and pin the front sight until you shoot it . If the sight are off a little you can always tap it a little with a hammer at the range to get it shooting straight. Then take it home and pin it.
You just single handily saved my weekend 👍👍👍
Don't install/rivet the rear trunnion in permanently until the barrel is pressed in and completed so the ram can push the pennies squarely (I used a 1/4" thick pure copper disk), just place the pins in for fitting.
AND FOR GOD SAKE DON'T FORGET WHENEVER YOU USE A PRESS, USE SAFETY GLASSES, AND EVEN A FULL FACE SHIELD IS A GOOD IDEA!
I felt super masculine when I dremeled my Magpul handguard for my WASR10, then I watched this. Salute at Babyface P
Leaving a comment here, one video from the last. Dude it's pretty freaking awesome to see someone love building firearms from scratch as much as you obviously do. Super educational man. I appreciate all ur efforts with the build and getting it on camera. Taught me a whole lot about a my AK’s. You mentioned ”GainsVille” and I realized that your not too far from me. Hope to one day link up with ya and do something super sick with some new/cool ”toys”. Thanks again my man!! 👍
I'd be more than happy to meet up and do some shooting! You let me know.
Greetings from upstate NY. Many builders here. Much respect and honor to you my friend. Keep up all your great work and stay safe.
Sssshhhhh, king Andy CuHomo will send his state police stormtroopers after you.
@@TheRoadhammer379 : of course s(He) will ;)
Upstate NY here, Andy boy is watching. Bwwwaaahh Hahah
@@c4dan : you bladesmith/knifemaker?? Upstate NY is were we play !!.....!! Keep them bevels sharp
Upstate New Yorker here, Currently researching the means to make my first AR. Cant wait!
Bout to replace my front sight block soon, These vids are a life saver thank you for sharing!
This series should have 100 million views worldwide. Thanks for sharing!
Wow brother. Great job !! Those 4 people who thumbs downed you, got to be ignorant.
Hey Baby Face, I had to tell you how much I enjoyed this video. There are a lot of people on you tube who make videos, and talk guns and I'VE watched them all. I'm so glad to see other people loved this video too. Very well done, educational, and silly at the same time. I watched all the parts and wanted more. Thanks again, and good luck
It's been pretty cool watching this whole build!
I love how thorough you are with these videos. The best AK tutorial on youtube that I've found. 👌 it sucks however all the pressing, welding, jigs, etc needed to build one. I build AR's all the time and they are SIGNIFICANTLY easier to build with MUCH less tools. If anyone is thinking about doing their first rifle build, I would strongly urge you to do an AR-15 before stepping up to this. And AR's only need about $30 worth of specialty tools/jigs. But I love this little course. It is suuper helpful. Thank you for making this
And he totally ignores breaking the drill bit on the second front sight pin hole!😂
And when pressing in the front sight pins DO NOT support the front sight on the "wings" but the middle of the barrel under the pins.
Don't use a drill bit for an interrupted hole- use a damn end mill!
drilling should never smoke the oil, reduce rpm, this will reduce bit deflection, you can always High speed the video VS the bit.
Id imagine the hardest part of this is getting the mill and the press. I know people make kits without them but I cannot imagine they're getting the quality you are. I wish you would have shown how you checked alignment on the front sight.
You need some jig reamers, they work great for drilling partial holes. MSC, Enco, McMaster Carr should have them.
Have a link? I'll check them out.
I was told if it's too tight, "just spit on it". Maybe that was for something else. Haha!!
Great video, these build videos are gold. Would love to see you do another build video on a Yugo parts kit.
This was The most informative and helpful video I found about how to build an AK thank you very much!
Get ready, I have a box of Polish Tantal parts that I'm about to start working on.
Thanks for sharing bro🤙🏽 definitely subscribing
On the chuck, tighten all three holes, or use a collet. then the drill bit will not fall out; Machine shop tooling supplies has shorter drill bits and they are also half increment sizes: Example 1 and 1.5 and 2 and 2.5.... simplify
Yep, lol even I know that and I am not a machinist
That $1700 price tag on a meridian doesn’t seem so unreasonable now. Great job with this series.
@8:00 What in the bubba guns is this?!?! haha kidding. good work
Life saver!!! Well “Project saver” lol thanks 🙏🏽
Man is actually a genius
I would not call it an East German AK, at this point I would call it an East Coast AK because you have entirely built a new one. I assume you live on the East Coast.
Good information , thanks a lot...
You need some brass jaws for that vice lol I love this build any time u cut off came I'm like I bet he is doing what I would b .I'd b taping stuff with a brass hammer to get it straight n true but it's not good to tall someone to do so so if go off camera to lol just my assumption . I did my first barrel with a block of oak and a god hammer
Battleworn theme would be cool 👍🏼👍🏼
3 pennies? I used a nickel when i made my Maadi back in 2012..... inflation man.....
I got a free polish, bent 80% when i bought the parts kit, but I used a commercial receiver...
I have the rails but no spot welder, and i'd probably want the whole receiver hardened... maybe some day...
I’m enjoying these man 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Cant wait for the next vid. Nice
Thanks for the lead
Good job man
Nice.
God forbid that anything is measured accuracy. Unbelievable. 😮😂

You really need to find some small end mills to properly drill these barrel pin holes.
I believe I learned this from Ginsboy2003 videos. Best investment I made. Metric mills available from the UK and Germany.
Are you sure it's a 23 size drill on the rear sight and 33 on the gas block and front sight?
Dude I want to build one so bad. Have a couple arsenals but I don't have nearly the mechanical skill you have. Pair that with 2k in tooling is it worth it?
Will you try building the type 81 Chinese
If I can get the parts
Have you ever heard of "soft jaws" for ALL your vice jaws. Copper works best in most cases. Soft but "sticky" unlike brass. Better grip than aluminum. ANY "Craftsman " should be ashamed of himself for leaving vice marks on his work.
Flagg
Have you ever installed the front sight post but not drill it until you test fire it, then clock the site post so it fires with the adjustment centered before you pin it?
No, too much gas pressure for me to feel comfortable doing that.
@@BabyFaceP gas pressure on the front site post? Not the gas block.. the front post?
@@thomasaltruda Oh I misread. Yeah it could probably work.
Its how i do all mine, your gas block can also be un pinned for test firing too. Once you have it sighted in you can pin all the components at once.
Gville, niiiice
You be willing to meet up and teach me 😂 lol
Tell me about chromium barrel this ??? Which good metal used for barrel
So your the reason I got screwed up pennies XD
That’s so cool how do you make one
Where are you at in Gainesville FL???
North side of town. You need some work done?
The rear sight, does it get pressed all the way to the trunnion?
You worked hard on it but it’s not easy to make the Ak47
how does the barrel not get bent during this process?
i really wanna get the ddm4 rail it looks so much simpler than ak stuffs xD
coba pasang barrel 47 inch di AK 47 ❤
Hi Patrick
I just got an ak-v and would like to replace the moe furniture with wood. Where should I look for this ?
Check Apex gun parts. They have a good selection.
Could you use a hammer to put the pins in instead of a press
typically hammers mushroom out the top (not ideal) But i bet you could do it
When you're pressing the gas block on, what part do you press on with the 12 ton press?
hey quick q if the front sight ends up being canted where even with a sight tool its still shooting to the left of bullseye, do i have to replace the whole barrel or can i get away with some hammering?
Barrel in a vice and a long cheater bar to torque it can help some you need to be careful not to break it.
Duuuuude
What brand drill bits do you recommend?
Where do you get the pins for populating? I have an old kit that is missing them and I never see them anywhere.
AK Builder may have them.
YEET
What mill do you use?
You said Gainesville. Florida or Georgia. I’m a builder in the Gainesville Florida

Baby Face P sweet I sent you a message on Instagram
@@medic0079 I'll check for it.
what part was the press pushing off there you couldnt see it was off camera
Give me a timestamp
@@BabyFaceP 13:00 your pressing the gas block stuff in. and im over here trying to figure out what you did uptop
@@AROUNDTHEFIRE Just using the press handle.
What did you mean check it for degrees? 14:02
Check the timing of the barrel so it's not twisted a couple of degrees to the left or right. Basically make sure everything is lined up correctly.
👍👍
I ran into an issue. I purchased an American-made 11.5" barrel from APEX gun parts and the OD for the gas block on the barrel measures at .632. The gas port hole is for a 90-degree gas block. Which AK/AKM gas block would be compatible? Or, would I have to get that portion on the barrel turned down on a lathe to .591?
Link me to the barrel.
I'm actually honored that it's you responding back. Very cool of you brother. www.apexgunparts.com/ak-barrel-11.5inch-us-made-knurled-nos.html
@@eztactical Simple solution is to turn the barrel down a bit. Other option is to dig around the internet for a milled front sight gas block at .632.
@@BabyFaceP Kinda explains why the price was so low. Haha, that's what I figured. I found out that a Yugo gas block measures at .630 ID so it's possible in the midst of this ammo, parts, and everything else crisis. I might have it turned down on a lathe or purchase a different barrel. Thanks for the help!
@@eztactical email me at patrick@babyfacep.com. I can turn it for you if you want. We can talk price.
Hay man the penny idea is good but fyi it is elegal to destroy us currency except for a suvenear

Expensive parts kit on poor build
Please watch your view blocking. It's frustrating to not see the critical moments
So, actually, now we know how they making AKs somwhere in Pakistan😂😂😂
Did you have to turn down any barrel steps/journals to fit your barrel blocks or did you just press them on?
