Timber isn’t a natural left back mate, played his whole career at cb. 41 appearances at cb, 7 at rb and 2 at lb

I THINK the plan is (Calafiori-Gabriel-Saliba-Timber) with Timber inverting from the right into midfield making a back 3 in attack, and i have a feeling Ben White is gonna be the next Ramsdale.
Calafiori is a natural LB. Specifically an inverted one due to his technical ability. He can play CDM too which goes hand in hand with being an inverted wing back.

Signing Calafiori shows intent to fight for the title. We all know if either Gabriel/Saliba injured, it will affect the team, considering we have to cover that position with either White or Tomiyasu, having Calafiori gives us assurance and I won't be surprised if he can replace Gabriel if he's not consistent.
Timber is right footed and coming off a brutal injury, we need a sure challenger for that spot and a guy who's left footed and plays LCB to provide depth for Gabriel as well.
