    Already have my hoop coop built but I like your design. Is there a video of you making the wooden part of the coop with dimensions.

    Nice design. We use those fence pickets a lot. May consider a slightly different door for the nest boxes. Chickens like if the top dont open. They get attacked by birds from above. If the door was hinged on the vertical side it does not spook them as much when you get the eggs. That plus linoleum or some sort of plastic based flooring makes clean up a lot easier.

      Chickens aren't gonna get attacked in the nesting boxes when the top is opened. You only open it to get the eggs. I have a coop that the nesting box opens the same way his does and it doesn't bother my girls a bit. They're typically not in the nests when I open it. I can count my hens before opening the hatch. lol On the days I do clean the nests, I make sure they're preoccupied in the run with their candy/treats.

    Might try gluing linoleum on the floor, it’s a God sent to clean out coop for winter and rainy weather.

    What’s stop rain water from dripping down into the nest boxes from the back of the hatch opening? I’ve built the same setup and I’m getting water dripping down the crack where the hinges are.

    Looks great . You need ventilation in that solid hen house. Chickens need good air ventilation.

    • @whiteshackhatcheryfarm463
      @whiteshackhatcheryfarm463  3 роки тому +1

      Be Surprised it’s actually pretty good. The metal and wood actually don’t touch and the door stays open most of the time. So the airflow is actually ok. I could always put a vent in it easily if it becomes a issue

    I am in the process of building something similar. I've already got the 23 ft long cattle panel run done but I wasn't sure how to complete the shelter/coop area. Awesome job! You've given me great ideas. Thank you for your video. 👍

    • @whiteshackhatcheryfarm463
      @whiteshackhatcheryfarm463  3 роки тому

      There 4 inches deep. You want deeper ones then build deeper ones. 4 inches is fine for what we need

  • @npcwill283

    It is an almost perfect design except ide raise the beds above the floor a bit more !

    • @whiteshackhatcheryfarm463
      @whiteshackhatcheryfarm463  3 роки тому

      Thank you. We have found that it works out as long as you have 4 inches to keep the savings in. We could raise it up then we would lose room. The higher the box the shorter the box has to be. Again thanks for commenting. And Subscribe. Thanks

    Take hog panels and attach to each side like a skirt. They hinge to fall to ground and pull up and latch to side for easy movement.
