These questions are really making me think about why I might be hesitant to pick up certain books. Definitely feeling like I need to reread a few to catch up in a series is a large obstacle to continuing. Also, once burned twice shy is very relatable when it comes to authors. I never quite know if it is the story, or the writing that put me off. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
I recently finished The God of the Woods and absolutely loved it!! It flew by for me even though it was thick. Also just so you know, it’s more of a slow burn mystery than a thriller, but so good! I started the Darker Shades of Magic series a couple years ago but haven’t finished it, I wasn’t 100% feeling it at first so I kind of want to try again and see if I like it better the second time. And Leviathan Wakes is high on my TBR but it is intimidating to me too! And I felt that way too about The Way of Kings haha, but it’s so good and well paced and I’m obsessed with the Stormlight Archive right now! 😍
I also really want to read The God of the Woods. I haven't heard a lot about it yet (because it just released) but glad to hear you loved it because our tastes are pretty similar! 💛
I saw The God of the Woods cover recently and thought I might like it but yeah didn't expect it to be a chunker haha Big classics are always intimidating! I do love an audio to get me into them!
Thanks for the tag! I’m intimidated to do it 😂 No spoilers for mine, but we have a couple in common! 👀 Ahh I loved The Fragile Threads of Power but I was also a huge fan of The Darker Shades of Magic series so I wouldn’t base it off of me. I eat up anything by V.E. Schwab. You have some good ones that I’m intrigued to see your thoughts on once you do get to them! 🖤

House of leaves has been on my shelf for years! Idk why but it just seems so intimidating 😂
I KNOW!! It seems like a lottt of work but since it's incredibly unique it intrigues me!
I've been told to read the first Darker Shade of Magic as a standalone
I would suggest reading it as a standalone as well! First book was great. The others in the series were just average, in my opinion.

Fun tag. Unpopular opinion, but I honestly didn’t care for A Little Life. I felt like it was very trauma porn-ish.
I hear a lot of folks say that! Maybe that's why it has taken me so long to finish it haha
