SCURRYING HOME by Jay Smith (original instrumental)

- I wrote this song a few years back and decided to post a video. I thought of the idea of the song structure as I was driving home in heavy traffic. I wanted a busy acoustic rhythm section throughout the song so I could play a simple melody over top. Then throw in some fast riffs here and there just to spice it up. I used my Breedlove acoustic for the rhythm and my Hallmark 60 Custom for the leads. The backing track was made on my Yamaha MOXF6 keyboard (drums, bass guitar, organ).

Great song, very well played, love it ! Beautiful !
That's a great tune, Jay, and played (as usual) to perfection. I was wondering how things are going down your way with the hurricane and all. How's your health and are you still doing gigs?
Regards,
Rich
hello Rich, the house had no issues after the hurricane, but gigs were messed up. It's slowly coming back. There are still venues messed up and rebuilding. My health is as expected for a 63 year old. Ive been lugging band gear for 50 years. Wear and tear. I fix things as needed to keep my music going

Wow you wrote this? Cool!👍
great musician. how old Mr. Jay now ?
Yes. IT IS LEAD GUITAR PLAYING.
Bravooo
hey ,,its me bud,,,the other lefty from portage pro bowl,,,or from holady camplands
yeah, it's been a while ago since I've been bowling. Gave it up when I moved to SW Florida. There are some people down here that knew me from Holiday Camplands. They follow me when I play in their communities. Hope everything is good with you.
Catchy instrumental. Nice guitar tone.
I like the groove in the acoustic, remember me a little bit of doobie brothers vibes , good job by the way 🤘
yes, the Doobie Brothers and the song Free Ride were 2 of my inspirations. I wanted a busy rhythm guitar and a fairly simple lead melody with a few quick licks to spice it up. Thanks for the comment.
Jay, You need to post some new videos.
Gigging so much, I haven't had time to set up my gear in the house and the lights and cameras. Most of my videos on here was from sitting home during the pandemic when I was not gigging.
@@leftyjaysmith Season is about over. You are about to have some free time. You do some Santan song. You should consider going to South Texas and playing at the RV parks and Resorts for the Season (Jan-Feb-Mar).
@@CoolestLifeI play here in SW Florida at RV Resorts and Mobile Park communities, along with Country Clubs. This is my 37th year as a solo. I get burnt out playing so much from Oct to April. I love that it slows down a bit in the summer so I can get away and recharge for the next season to start.
Another song played by a great guitarist.
