- A skier like Scot Schmidt needs no introduction - the legend has been in 10 Warren Miller Films, starting in 1983 when freeskiing was taking the scene by storm. It's been a long and wild journey since then, but there is no doubt that Scot Schmidt still rips.

The greatest male skier of all time, in my opinion.
He's a pioneer for sure. But I'd have to disagree. Candide, JP, moseley, Plake, Tanner Hall, Ligety. So many different disciplines.

Almost 30 years ago I met Scot and remember telling him I hope he has a long healthy career. Glad to see that seemed to work out. Was a legend then and will always be.

Let me make my case for Scot. He doesn't do backflips. He didn't do some of the absolutely wild stuff the guys who followed him did. But as a pure skier, I think the way Scot bends a ski is beautiful. It's perfection. Mastery. I'm not trying to tarnish the badassery of the guys who followed, but what I am proposing is that Scot is the OG, and can bend a ski better than any human I've ever seen. Getting down to the essence of skiing, stripping away the flare of guys like Plake (who is also a legend), Scot is, just in my personal view, the man to beat.
