Really useful video - this technique for applying 4Mattwax makes the job so much easier

When doing base repair on a set of dry slope practice skis, is structure as important as normal. Or does it not matter so much as water is brushed off by the matting. With ski wear on dry being quite severe, regular ptex repairs can leave not much structure.
Also, how would edge tuning differ?

It is not as vital, like you say the abrasive nature of the dryslope will remove the wax from the base. In terms of base repairs, if the hole is big it is often better to put a new piece of base in. If the hole isn't big we often just say it is better to not worry because of how many times you will need to keep doing it etc. ( Hope that makes sense).
Edge tuning may differ, but the heat generate in the ski from friction will eventually end up with the base warping slighty (that is why it is important to wax), so the only way to fix that is with a base grind, but you can only do this so many times etc.
      Hope that helps! :)

@@skiracingsupplies Very helpful, thank you. Your explanation also explains why some people just have skis for dry and snow.

Hi, Do you think it's possible to prepare a pair of skis for dryslope racing and then transition them into skis that you would be able to use on the snow?

      Hi Tristan,
It is possible yes, however the dryslope can be very wearing on the skis so it might be better to have two sets if finances allowed.
The wax will need scraping off completely again for snow, trick to do this is to heat the base up a little with the iron and scrape it off hot, clean it out with a brass brush, then you can begin ski prep for snow.
