My son Justin did same hike this past weekend.we watched your video today and he started laughing because he hiked past those signs to. Never saw them. Great video.
That is awesome! Hope he enjoyed the hike - it's one of my all time favorites. Those signs leading up to Colden are definitely an easy miss - gotta keep your head on a swivel haha. Thank you for watching my video! -Brian
Great video! I just did this hike 1 month ago. I also thought this was a really tough hike but the views made it worth it! The rock scrambles and ladders along Avalanche Lake begin to wear on you before you even start climbing the 1950'. I ran into a 46er on the way back to the Loj who recommended to take an Advil 3 times on the hike (before you start, at the summit, and when you are done). Also, I missed the sign but didn't get too far away because I was using AllTrails. If I didn't have AllTrails, I would have probably would have gone to the end of Lake Colden.
Glad you got out there and did it! How was the mud and snow at higher elevations? And yeah that waterfall is an easy one to miss, usually by that time in the hike you're just thinking about getting back to the car and to the closest burger joint haha. Happy hiking and thanks for watching! - Brian
@@RouletteTravel No mud, everything was still frozen but melting.. all soft snow. Postholing up to our knees lol. Pretty icy too. Great adventure though. Stayed out one night. Yeah your right, we probably ran by that waterfall trying to get back to the car lol!
@@MackZero Sounds about right this time of year! Sometimes worth dragging the snowshoes out still. Might try to sneak one more in before the official start to mud season!
This is sick! Do you think dogs can complete avalanche pass? My dog is very athletic and has climbed other difficult and scrambly peaks like Iroquois and Big Slide. I’m just not sure how much you need to be on your hands and knees, ya know. Thanks

I love that stretch of trail, my first hike through there was 1984 I think.
Isn't it great to keep going back to your favorite spots over the years? Thanks for watching, Tom!
@@RouletteTravel Yup it sure is
Did this hike a few years ago before I had a GoPro. Was thinking, I wish I had video to reminisce. So I found this. 👍🏼
Glad that I could help bring you back to, in my opinion, one of the greatest hikes out there! - Brian
Agree!
Looks really fun!!! Cool video and scenery
Great video! Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you - I appreciate that! - Brian
Just did it thanks! Missed that waterfall on the way back to the lodge though damn.

Great video man! Taking this exact trail/route at the end of August. Surprised you didn't bring trekking poles!
They're tough to handle while working a camera too haha!
A familiar problem...running out of light. Glad your ok.
Always working against the sun! Always have a headlamp and backup light with me just in case though. Thank you for watching!
I want to do this in August but I'm scared my boyfriend and my brother won't be up for it. Hopefully I can convince them 👀 great video
If not, you could always hire a guide! Thanks for watching and hope you guys make it out there! -Brian
Doing this this weekend
Enjoy and be safe! I'm sure you know, but get ready for some mud and black flies - very worth it though! Thanks for watching! - Htrian
Love that fart at 4:15 ;)
Doing this soon!
Haha thanks - enjoy the hike! One of my all time favorites

I think a dog find do the pass trail. Might need your help at certain points but if he's climbed mountains with you I think he will be okay
