You guys have become my favorite UA-camrs I love your content you guys are totally awesome I raced BMX through all of the 80s and am the same age as you guys I get such a kick out of your builds and friendship... Have you heard of a profile champ Pro in the early 80s I won a Florida state championship riding one and still have the number plate.. I wish I had a friend like you guys to hang out with and do builds it would be so much fun. My thirteen-year-old son wants to start racing all of a sudden so I may be getting back into it. 🤙🤙 Love the content!!!!!
Aww, thanks for saying that bro! Really appreciate that! The Profile was a really nice bike! That's awesome that you had one and won a championship with it! Too bad you still don't have the bike! That's cool that your son wants to get into it. Watch out, his new hobby might consume you! Haha! Thank you so much for the support!
Thank you so much for saying that! Bernie and I do enjoy just hanging out and working on bikes together so we are very blessed. Thanks for watching! 🤙🏻
It was very laborious but this project is finally finished. Once again, Bernie did a great job ! And Kevin, I wish you a good recovery ! Take care guys …
Bike looks great Kevin, a work of art, also wishing you a speedy recovery! May consider a parts used and build cost video for the future, and thank you to Bernie for stepping in to assist on finishing the build.
Thanks Terry! Appreciate that a lot! Also love the idea of doing a parts used and the cost in a new video. That is a great idea! Thanks for the comments and for watching!
The Skyway build turned out amazing! Those red , redline cranks were worth the wait . It’s show worthy with all of your color and part choices! Im looking forward to the next build. Hope you’re recovered and able to ride the Skyway soon.
Thanks Robert! Yes, been getting better each day and I was able to take it out for a spin on the weekend. It rides really well! Thanks for the kind words and for watching another one! Much appreciated!
Thank you, Bro-chanics! I was the guy that pointed out the seat post issue. Damn, this is one sweet ride! Love the next time you have some extra stickers to pass along?!?!
Sorry to hear about your op,Kev! Was wondering where you guys been. Finally done! Love the color combination. Bike looks bomb! Hope you guys can ride soon!
Looks amazing guys!!!! I still want to get a 24” skyway chrome frame and build the bike I had in high school (it was a 20” though) you guys work great together…….”a laugh a day keeps the doctor away”😝👍🏻
Go for it! Grab one the next time they drop! It definitely brings back some great memories! We do have a lot of fun together and you are right! Laughter is the best medicine! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Thanks for the support! How did your surgery go? Man, it was a lot more sore in those first couple of days than I expected! Hope you healed up well! How's your diet? I've been slowly trying to eat some things to sort of test out what I can handle. It's been interesting.
It really would and I can still do that with the blue set of cranks I still have! I ordered a blue chainring so I'll try that first to see how that looks against the red chain. Thanks so much for the suggestion and for watching!
Absolutely Cherry!! What about a white chain to breakup the blue and red? Glad to hear everything went well with the surgery Kev! Stay healthy and wishing for speedy recovery.
Thanks Roger! Appreciate that a lot! I will definitely keep that white chain in mind. I'm going to swap out the chainring to blue first to see what that looks like and then go from there. Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching the vid!
WOW Guys, it's absolutely beautiful! Wife says put on the blue chainring, but I think it looks awesome! My shirt was delivered last week, good quality and looks rad. Kevin, feel better soon! Bernie, maybe try a rubber mallet to tap crank splines and seatposts, it works for me and it doesn't appear that I've damaged anything with this technique (at least to this point!). Great video as always.
Thanks so much for all of those awesome suggestions! Tell your wife that I new blue chainring was already ordered and I'm going to swap that out to see how it looks before doing anything with the chain. The rubber mallet is a good idea for sure. Thanks for picking up a shirt! Appreciate the support!
Changing the side of the spider helped on my Skyway to straighten the chain out. Easy fix and mor footage hehe Hope you recover quickly from the surgery, Kevin. Bike looks super cool. Great job, Brokanikz!
Thanks man! Appreciate that! Getting better every day! I think we looked at the spider and it won't let you flop the ring to the other side, but we'll definitely check that out the next time! Appreciate you bro!
Wishing you a healthy & speedy recovery ! The Skyway turned out awesome ! Like you said, the blue sprocket will look better against the red chain. Just a heads up. The “premium” t shirts run kinda small. The “regular/Fruit of Looms” tshirt runs true to size.
Thanks Thomas! Appreciate the kind words! I'm feeling better every day! Actually got to ride it this weekend which was nice. Thanks also for the info on the shirts as that can help others who might want to pick one up. I ordered a blue sprocket so we can see what that looks like. Thanks for all of the support! Really appreciate it!
I heard that shout out!! I couldn't see the chainline good enough, but if it's off to the right side, I'd recommend moving the chainring to the back of the spider and see if the chainline is better. If you flip it and then it's a tiny bit off the other direction, then you could add small spacers on the right crank side until you get it perfect. Might be a waste of time, or it could be better! WOW, it's a BEAUTY!! Glad you survived that surgery. You'll be doing wheelies in no time!! 😆
Could you put the spacer on the outside of the spider between the crank arm and spider itself or would that make the spider rub against the bottom bracket bearing housing?
@@brandomworkman83 The spider (or sprocket) will always be flush with the crank arm, regardless if it's bolt-on or splined. You can include spacers between the cone and spider though. A lot of people don't want to, especially with a color scheme going, but sometimes it's necessary.
We were thinking of moving the chain ring behind the spider but I am not sure this one can do that. I'll have to take a closer look at it the next time we're working on the bike. I do plan on changing the chainring to blue to see what that looks like. Thanks for the kind words about the surgery! Every day is better than the one before it and I was already able to take the bike out for a ride this past weekend! Appreciate you bro!
Glad you’re healing well my friend! You guys knocked it out of the park with this one, so sick 🤙🏼! Swapping the chainring may be good, but I’d probably sacrifice the painted red chain for dark metal. If it were red ano it would blend beautifully. Can the seat guts be rotated up into the seat, between the rails? Some seats have no room, but often it can be hidden. Keep up the great work gentlemen!🇺🇸
Thanks Shawn! Appreciate those kind words! I'm feeling better and better with each day. Actually got to ride this weekend! Yeah, I might need to start looking for a more metal look for the chain. What do you think about an oil slick chain? Too purple? We will also look at the seat guts to see what else we can do. The post is bent at an angle so I'm not sure how much room is left up there but we will see! Thanks for the comments and for watching!
Glad you guys were able to finish the project!! It turned out great, but yes, will change the chainring to blue. Kevin, get well soon!! What’s the next build, a red one!!
Thanks Raul! Really appreciate that! I have already ordered a new chain ring in blue to see how that looks. Thanks man! We have a new build coming soon so stay tuned!
Yep, love those pedals! Bullseye did a fantastic job on them. I really wish the Skyway mags came in 26"! I would for sure put them on this bike! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
NICE, BRAH!!! I bought the same blue chainring/red spider/red chainring bolts, but... the anodized blue chainring clashed WAYY too much with the blue frame and cranks 😢 I was disappointed, but I went a different route for a sprocket- a bit more old-school. I think it goes MUCH better with the build 😉 I'll tag you on Instagram with a pic or two. Great job, bruddah!! 👍😎
Looking forward to seeing what you went with! I ordered a blue to offset the red on the chain so we'll see how that looks. Thanks for the awesome comment and for watching another one!
I gotta agree with you on that one with the skin walls. I bought some for the Supercross build and I think I want to get some for the Skyway next! I have a nice blue metallic chain I found that should work nicely on it. We'll probably make a new video with the new parts soon! Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
Thanks man! Yeah, the chain has some mixed reviews so far. I'm going to change up the chainring to blue to see how that looks against the red and see. Yep, Bernie is a tru bro! Thanks man!
One of the most beautiful bikes i ever seen. Did you know you can flip around the seat guts to make a more clean look? Its a little tricky but worth it
Regarding colors, you covered most of the options. You could also leave the red chainring (it looks great) and change the chain, since the chain red doesn't match the other reds on the bike.
Good point! Someone else pointed that out too, that the red is not really a metal look like the anodized red. I wonder how an oil slick chain would look? Thanks man!
Thanks man! I haven't seen a blue chain from them. I was surprised to see it in red actually! I will check out eBay for some stickers, thanks for the suggestion!
Blue sprocket w/ red spider..and definitely ditch the red chain..looks kind of clownish..get a chrome one it wont look like out of place..other than thatshe's just about perfect..good job guys
The blue on the sprocket hub didn't match the frame, and the red on the chain didn't match sprocket. The chain would have been sweet in the shadow chrome, the sprocket hub needs powdered to match the frame blue. That bike deserves a red seat ! That being said, it's sweet as is!
There are definitely some parts where the colors don't exactly match perfectly but I'm ok with that. I found a better chain in metallic blue that I'll be swapping. Man, sorry! Commenting as I watch. That red chain doesn't match (or flip-flop colors) & needs to GO! Swap it for...(gasp) a white one! Talk about some, "Make it pop!" Or blue...that red is 👎. Just my 2¢.
You're not the first one to suggest a white chain so we'll see. I am going to swap out the chainring for a blue one and see how it goes. I do appreciate the suggestion and you watching the video!
I agree in the chain, its to much red. Its tricky with two colors as each piece must compliment the next without becoming too much of one color, becomes an art form. A white chain would bring out the Skyway lettering on the frame, a chrome or polished nickel plated chain would tie into the polished elements, such as the brake/pedal hardware, Origin8, and other polished metal (which there is very little.)
I'll have to look more closely at the spider to see if it allows for the ring to be swapped to the other side. We will definitely check that out so thanks for the suggestion! And thanks for watching!
