Placing the racquet at the edge of a table with a ruler on the table is probably a more accurate way of measuring balance than what I’ve shown here. For the method in the video to be accurate, you would need to secure the rod and mount (tape would do) to ensure there are no moving parts.

For swingweight, I simply recommend getting the briffidi Swingweight machine. It's just a 3d printed thingy that you use with an Iphone. Super handy and accurate. It's $250 but still cheaper than a real swingweight machine and more convenient than the manual swing method.

I’m sure it is great and I would buy it if I needed to match my racquets regularly. I just needed to match my two racquets now and I didn’t want to drive 45 minutes to the closest shop that has one of those fancy swingweight machines.

love the idea of using a bolt for the balance point. Having that flat end hold the thing still seems quite helpful

The bolt technique would work well if you just fasten it with tape. I was trying to do it quickly while holding a camera so that’s what made it harder.

There is an app you can download to measure the swing weight using the device’s camera instead of eye balling it. Much more accurate

      App is called Swing Tool

great demo of the process.Just one question. When the tennnis warehouse says add weight at 3 and 9 for example,The strip of tape will be centred on the 3 and nine and spanning above and below.I asssume thisis the concept for placing the lead.Evenly space either side of the mark of equal lengths

Exactly. Adding weight at 3/9 will help with stability. I recommend adding a little at a time, 1-2 grams can make a noticeable difference.

Kudos for making the video! You might as well just make your own balance board. Just use an old piece of wood and glue the parts onto it.

That’s a great point. I’m going to be getting into racquet customization a bit more so it is worth it.

hi andy, im not sure if you still moderate this video. why did you zero-out the screw (bolt) at 13" and not 13.5"?

Hi, a better way to find the balance is to just put the racquet at the edge of a table until it tips over.

Too much room for error with your balance measurement. Could have just used the edge of your table. Lay the racket head on the table and let the handle hang over until it just about falls off and balanced. Then the ruler measures from the table edge to the end of bud cap. Much more accurate.

The balance was tricky. Note that the difficulty was that I was holding a camera, and holding the racquet and holding the screw and I only had 2 hands. 😀 when I did this off-camera, it was much easier. The edge method works too, but I think part of the difficulty with that is that the handle is thicker (at least with my racquet). So I’m not sure how accurate that would be.

@@tenniswithandy it’s as accurate as looking at the numbers on a real balance board. Also there’s a cheap swing weight machine Briffidi. Check it out.
