I think it’s ironic . I think the line is about most people say that kind of thing. But at they end of the day, they won’t do anything, because they just want a quiet life, with no alarms and no surprises.
It makes me laugh because people like thom Yorke champion Jeremy Corbyn lmao and given he's a Hamas supporting terrorist sympathiser it's pretty funny given what's just happened
jesus christ can you be normal. why is your first response to escalation of the israel/palestine conflict to comment some dumb shit on a fucking radiohead video. get a hobby @@NelsonMangandhi
I totally agree with you, it's somehow a way to express pain in a kind and sweet song. The ones who suffer from depression and anxiety understand what kind of song this is and it makes it feel better
A heart that's full up like a landfill A job that slowly kills you Bruises that won't heal You look so tired, unhappy Bring down the government They don't, they don't speak for us I'll take a quiet life A handshake of carbon monoxide And no alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises Silent, silent This is my final fit My final bellyache With no alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises, please Such a pretty house And such a pretty garden No alarms and no surprises (get me out of here) No alarms and no surprises (get me out of here) No alarms and no surprises, please (get me out of here)
The mind which fills me with all wonders Destiny of living Long way recovering See me, in restfull sleepness Speak out our justice love We learn, learning to be kind We choose some thoughtfull grace The blessings that are in disguise With all the give thanks with all counting joys All the give thanks with all counting joys All the give thanks with all counting joys Relief, relief Now will be our start point Set freely weariness Of all greatfullness with all thankfullness All greatfullness with all thankfullness All greatfullness with all thankfullness' hope Oh my simple home With our simple backyard All the give thanks with all gratitudes (cast out your despairs) All greatfullness with all thankfullness (set free from daydreams) All the gracious with all counting joys' hope (observe the beauties)
Shitty lyrics, misspelled a couple words and missed a syllable in "Destiny of living", "With our simple backyard" and "The blessings that are in disguise". Added a syllable in "All the give thanks with all counting joys" (Along with the variations including the second chorus somehow your dumbass added two syllables) and having the long notes on "ttthhhheeee giiiive" is awkward and horrible and the phrasing is just weird with the vocal melody for practically the whole line. And pausing in the middle of "Simple" in the 3rd verse is awkward and more awkward shit in the 3rd chorus. Revise this trash if you don't want it to be trash.
stupid question: was there anything particular that was happening in Britain politically around this time that made the audience cheer for the "government"-line?
my favorite part of this is how the whole crowd cheered the line "bring down the government"

Mine as well . 👊👏👏👏

The thing that I think is incredible is that Thom gets older, but his voice doesn’t, he sounds almost the same as in the 90s
This song describes the sweetness hidden behind pain. That pain can be sweet as well.

Thom Yorke is one of my favourite singers/songwriters, the whole band are amazing. People say it's depressing but it genuinely lifts me up 🤟✌
A heart that's full up like a landfill
A job that slowly kills you
Bruises that won't heal
You look so tired, unhappy
Bring down the government
They don't, they don't speak for us
I'll take a quiet life
A handshake of carbon monoxide
And no alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
Silent, silent
This is my final fit
My final bellyache
With no alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises, please
Such a pretty house
And such a pretty garden
No alarms and no surprises (get me out of here)
No alarms and no surprises (get me out of here)
No alarms and no surprises, please (get me out of here)
