This has to be the best set of 2022 without a doubt. From the insane card art to the castings all looking spectacular and with a chase?! What is there not to love about this set?! Love the background as well for this!
Related the comment about the NSXs wheels. Hot wheels needs a midsize wheels. Their large wheel is way too big. Hot wheels also needs a large basic wheel that has the same size rim as the smaller wheel but a thicker tire. The huge rear rims need to go. Awesome set. Great video.

After watching you, I decided to take collecting to a new level and have more fun waits it, and now I somehow have over 5,000 Diecast cars!!!
Okay, I don't wanna sound rude or like I'm stereotyping, but it seems that Americans don't seem to be too excited for the Celica because of the general lack of interest in WRC, and the reason why Europeans and Asians are going a bit nuts for it. The Celica was a hugely influential car in WRC, being the first Japanese car to win the championship, as well as introducing anti-lag (and the turbocharger controversy is a whole another story). That, and this being an exceptionally well done casting in factory looks is why it's my favourite of the set. Could've been a different colour (silver or green) with non-chrome wheels, but I'm not complaining at all.
Some Americans do REALLY like the car, but as a certain version - The green, red and white rally livery due to it's quite famous appearance in Sega Rally. I do admit the creamy yellow is wonderfully 80's however and very tempting.
Hot Wheels hit it out the park with this set. Such a great combination of drift spec JDM cars matched with perfect wheel choices. Not that I don't like the current deco, but if I absolutely had to nitpick, it's that I wished the AE86 had the classic white panda colour scheme even if it were without the Initial D license. Otherwise, hands down my favourite Car Culture set this year.
This set rivals Modern Classics in terms of how good it is. Each edition is fantastic, but my favorite has the Liberty Walk R34, especially the chase. I haven’t found any Car Culture chases yet, but here’s hoping
Not sure if this is the best Car Culture set ever released, but for 2022 it seems like it is. The Toyota AE86 has some really nice artwork on it. But the stars here are the '95 Toyota Celica GT-Four (wich looks better out of the package in my opinion) and the R34 Super Silhouette Skyline wich looks fantastic, and a serious candidate for best Premium HW casting for 2022. And you're right about the Mitsubishi, the right set of wheels really improves the overall look of any model. Card art is beautiful too. Thanks for actually heading to the mountains to showcase this amazing set Lamley!

It's funny, there are several HW premiums I want right now but cannot find at stores. I ordered my first RLC only to find it is back-ordered until at least July. But you want to know what made me really happy? I found the silver Honda when I stopped in a different Target and completed my collection. Sometimes you have to appreciate the simpler things.
The skyline chase is going to be a grail piece for me. Finding it hovering at price on ebay between $600-700, all sellers are over the big water so far, can't find it for sale in the US yet.
i picked this set 2 days ago and got a chance to hold, for a few minutes, the stunning chase of the LBWK Skyline. What a beauty. But the seller was asking 110 usd for it :( Anyways, great set all around, but boy is the Super Silhouette hommage (chase or regular) amazing.
The point about Nissan is a very good one. I used to be into car art - and buying Tshirts with car art on them. Many brands would issue lots of takedown notices to artists selling on the major platforms - but Nissan was cool with it. Totally cool. Many others were too (including the US brands) but others were not (Volvo, VW etc)

You can convince me that any car is cool or special if it comes from the perspective of another enthusiast who adores it. I just wanted to point out how anything JDM these days gets hyped more often than not without merit, whether in the diecast world or in reality. I love Japanese cars as much as the next guy, but I don’t think it’s all objectively perfect.
All cars go through a phase of being top. Just look at Hotwheels 10 years ago when muscle cars were the thing with all these drag buses. And JDM were peg warmers. Nowadays it’s the opposite. It’s just the trend of the market. It will cycle around just like clothing.
Not a big Celica fan for those yrs but i must say that one is very well made & I definitely will pick one up. The VR4 is awesome but it doesn't look well painted (factory flaws?) beautiful color but no painted right. The whole set is well done.

Definitely a great set, although some of them are not my favorites. The new trueno casting looks great as always and I liked them all in the premium version, but for this one... idk, the anime decal just seemed off imo, so I don't really feel that amazed. But those bronze TE37 though, man they are really nice to look at! The mitsubishi and the nsx are nice castings, but I'm not actually a fan, sorry. As for the celica gt4, that looks nice, but what makes me really stoked to see this casting is for it to be done in castrol rally deco. I'm a big fan of that version and hopefully hotwheels could realize the idea! Lastly, the diva of this set is definitely the LB ER34. Never thought HW is going to do this casting, and for what it is, totally exceeded my expectation. definitely going to grab one for display! Great set, and great review. Thanks John!

This set I found fresh in a Target and I managed to find TWO BLACK CHASES. Not knowing it would be the most hype premium of 2022 and now the Skyline chase goes for over $500. I left one behind. Worst decision I made. But easily the best premium set of 2022.
gotta say, celica is my favorite because my dream celica gt4 is the exact yellow but with the white wheels of the nsx so probably gonna swap those ones
does Hot Wheels not put a release date on their sets? i cant be going to the stores everyday looking for these >.< lol gas price is way too high for that. they should atleast put a estimate date when it should be around in stores so we can look for the sets we want :3
I would love a set but scalpers in Southeast Wisconsin have decimated our stock. Started in late 2019. It's so bad I just order rlc cars. I don't hunt much anymore. If I see something, I buy it. Otherwise...... it's all over in my area.
A chase that no one except jobless dirty wife beater wearing scavangering scalpers camping out in front of Kroger, Walmart, Walgreens, Dollar Tree…etc, etc. AND when these class acts are done, leaving one hell of a mess of the displays, pegs, and dumps so the real collectors come along to clean it up. At least that’s what I do. When are they going to realize, you don’t make money off a hobby collecting. No mindful collector would spend 50.00 on your eBay page for a car they can order for a 1.00.
Seems like every year it gets worse and worse. I saw one of these class acts ripping through the pegs at Target leaving most of the cards on the shelf under the pegs. The set was brand new.
