I have a hiss with my S. Tried my normal approach (propane) nothing. Ordered a smoke test. Let's see. Thanks for the content.

@@HelpMeDIY Worked perfectly! The hose connected to the control of the flap inside the intake was literally broken. Replaced and no more hiss. There is a very thin leak through the hinge of this flap. Let's see if this causes any problems. Took advantage and cleaned the throttle body and happy to see there is no oil inside the intake. The Air Oil separator looks new(I just bought this car), so that was a good surprise after having to replace coils/plugs(misfiring), all fluids, etc.

Awesome. I built one at home with pickle jar, soldering iron, socks and baby oil. Works amazingly for $10! I went in through the secondary injection pump Jose to test. Maybe I should try where you did it. Nice work as always.

I had to replace all 4 big rubber plenum seals. They were rock hard and were not sealing. New ones were so much softer and fit better

Did a smoke test on my 930 turbo the other day. A whole lot different process considering its CIS fuel injected making pressurizing the manifold a bit more 'interesting'.
Made my own smoke tester with a Mason jar and oil soaked rag wrapped with nichrome wire attached to 12vdc, and my air compressor cranked down to around 5 psi to pressurize the jar. Cost outlay: zero

I did the same thing using my vape and it surprisingly works very well as I identified 2 cracked plastic pipes on my Boxster

Great video thanks. I just bought a solary smoke testor from Amazon as my 2001 boxster keeps throwing codes. I did an indepth visual on a very clean engine, so now its on to a smoke test.

Question did you need to remove the Mass Air Flow Sensor before you started your smoke test?

Just for fun. Run the manometer test again with everything fixed and compare results to the test when the boot was loose.

@@HelpMeDIY I got to cheat. My 2001 S has a cold air intake, so I just removed the filter and inserted the cone that you used. I don't know where to put the smoke on my stock 2003 S.
