Peace beloved. I came across a broadcast you were just on with Mark Lamont Hill, and another sister...; and was captured by the seriousness of your tone. I searched your page on UA-cam and am delighted by your substantive elocution. I’m your brother ✊🏿
I saw this woman's name next to her face in a blog post of a random article. Typical me went straight to judging, in my head of course. Didn't know who she was, where she came from, just her face, and her name in a list of 34 Famous Women Of Proud African And Latina Heritage. Didn't know what I was reading, or looking at, just looking at her appearance, with the rock jewelry, gold chain necklace, excessive gold ear rings, needless length of braids, and a bun that couldn't scream I have witchdoctor somewhere in my blood any louder, I thought: Oh no, this is an activist motherland afro everything lowkey crazy type. What the heck did she do? How is she a celerity? Is she even a celebrity? Why would she be in a list of actors if she wasn't even on a silver screen? Why would anybody be paying this much attention to her? What makes her stand out from all the other Afro ish Latina ish women that look like that? I googled her just to silence my crazy mind. turns out she's a poet. What does she rap about? Black stuff? Blackety black stuff? I listened to a video. It looked old. I was like oh she used to be fine back in the day. But what's up with her complexion? Then I heard her speaking fluent Spanish and I was like Oh ok this is starting to make sense.
