Aloha everyone! I got a request to film the actual mounting-so I'm currently editing a more detailed video (cutting the hose and mounting) so look out for the video in a few day!
Very nice! I have a couple of rescue phals that I want to mount to a tree. May video that but it would be difficult but will be fun! Thanks for the video, Randy.
Very cool! Thanks for the tutorial, Randy! If I was living in Hawaii, I would mount orchids on every tree trunk. There would be no trunk space wasted! Every inch and crevice would be filled with orchids. Do you REALIZE how lucky you are to be living in Hawaii? :) I will be sharing your video on my orchid Facebook group page, once again. :) Thank you!
Aww thanks for the comment and sharing Sam! I'm waiting for a few more palms to mature enough for me to mount them at a good level-so yes, every tree gets an orchid!! Kinda feel like Oprah in the yard yelling at my trees. You get an orchid! You get an orchid!! Every tree gets an orchid!!! Lmao! Thanks again for watching!! Aloha!
Hello...I am pilipino and I live in Florida and I also collect orchids here..I'm so happy to watch the video and even more I I found out your a pilipino
I am curious as to how long the orchids need to be in the sphagnum moss. I tried several of my cattleyas in my areca palms. Since we were having a dry winter in S. FL and the orchids weren't doing well I removed them from the trees and potted them. I must say that these were young plants. I try not to water during our dry season. Perhaps I have to rethink that. Any advice?
The pantyhose I used seems a bit thicker than does yours. In either case, how do the roots get sufficient light and how do they grow out, like when they are only held on by fishing twine. Seems the pantyhose will inhibit this. Just put pantyhose around a corked Brassovola Digbyana and Brassovola Nodosa. Thoughts?
Bobi Darshan in time the pantyhose does begin to breakdown. Some of the roots began to break through the pantyhose, some roots that were attaching itself were able to get out from under the moss panty house mound. As long as you’re not obstructing where the new growths will be, it should be fine.
OrchidCasa By Elizabeth it's an amazing material to work with isn't it? It really creates a perfect pocket and conforms to whatever you're mounting it to.
Randy From Maui yes it is, i live in the tropics and i just feel wires are to strong for them. Thanks for replying. I've been collecting them for many years, but new in youtube channel.
+Randy On Maui lol! I thought about that too 😂 did you buy it? What did the people at the store thought? It probably would have been better if you look it off the neighbor's clothes line haha!
thank you for inviting us to your yard what an honor how exquisite thank you so much love from "Libby little Garden"
You are so lucky to have orchids outside in Hawaii. I live in England where the top temperature is 20-30°c if that! Orchids are house plants over here

Hey, I'm in Pukalani, do you recommend taking them off the trees in the rainy season?
