Peter Bogdanvich's relationship with Orson Welles is the most fascinating of all his interviews, although what he says about Ben Johnson comes in a close second.
Last Picture Show one of the 10 greatest movies of 20th Century. Also a terrific film historian. Check out his interviews/conversations with Orson Welles.
Wow, he skipped over the Dorothy Stratten years with true ingenuity. Nothing at all from 1979-1989. Just "Oh, we don't have enough time, we'll skip right over all that pointless stuff." I actually found the other stuff fascinating, but just dumping that entire episode with Dorothy down the memory hole except for a brief mention at the end? Really? Skip completely over "They All Laughed", arguably his best post-"Last Picture Show" film? Probably the only reason Bogdanovich agreed to this was not bringing that up except as he himself chose to bring it up.
@@genuinebrendan Exactly. I once saw someone who knew him personally say that he wouldn’t agree to an interview unless they knew it was off limits because he would cry if he talked about it.
These are two golden hours For film folks Watch out for the "zingers" As Alan Reed said to Brando in " Viva Zapata" 1952 "you're the only one" Peter Bogdanovitch is the only one !!
I'm sorry but I find David Edelstein to be a terrible interviewer. He obviously hasn't read up on Bogdanovich, and he keeps asking about things that Peter says never happened. All in all it's a good interview, but that's not because of Edelstein's technique.
Why is his name pronounced so often as if it has two Os in it? Is that correct, or is it just the same reason as why people (wrongly) say 'geneology' when the word is 'genealogy'?
Get rid of the first guy, get on with the conversation and learn how to spell Peter's last name correctly. There is no 't' in Bogdanovich. Otherwise, regardless of the negative comments below, I think it's quite an enjoyable interview.
What a terrible interviewer. Sloppy, possibly non existent research and too often inadvertently upstaging the enjoyable Mr Bogdanovich. ( How does a film critic not understand Auteur theory?! )
Hitchcock did it. Preminger did it. Josh Logan did it. Bogdanovich did it. Ah, so Lubitsch too and GeorgeCukor. They all do it. So wrong!!!! We still have men playing women`s parts.
Sarasota Films obviously couldn't go lower than with this Creep Bogdanovitch. Ugly Bogdanovitch was never good enough for Doroth Stratton! But with no remorse guessing since it worked on her he thought it would work as well on her 14 year old kid sister. So long as they can talk and waste time they can pass themselves off as so-called teachers. Describe, chat, compare, but no originality, No creativity what so ever.
All you needed was Mr Bagdanavich. I could listen to him for hours.
God bless Peter Bogdanovich, he’s hilarious!
When a moderator takes centre stage that’s a tragedy.

He's a cracking impressionist
Thought that was Peter Sellers 😮
Hackman devours everyone. He is not an easy interview.
bet he is fun to have a cocktail with and
chat..
I think Peter Bogdanovich is so interesting to listen to.
God what an idiot you are.....
Great Man, Great Storyteller.
Ok, if you want to actually hear the late, great Peter Bogdanovich, just skip ahead to 7:35
Oh no, I'm just here to listen to some tedious non-entity interviewer
Great😂🤣🤣🤣🔪nothing great about this weasel piece of 💩💩💩💩💩💩God you people are stupid
he is so right about the violence.
The interviewer was too distracting at times, too much editorializing and interjecting, that clearly didn’t impress Peter.
Great interview....very entertaining....love the Renoir impression 58:10

I did and they are terrific.
It is dull and creepy
Targets was about a lone gunman target shooting unsuspecting people going about life. A violent and brutal film that is too real even today.

James Well it’s clearly obvious he doesn’t want to talk about his girlfriend who was brutally murdered.

This man is an absolutely discusting human beings....straight discusting selfish perverted pedophile!!!!period!!!!
What was the year? Should be a UA-cam rule stating no content can be uploaded without a date stamp.
1973
There is something wrong with the interviewer.
His chutzpah
And he is a wanker
Didn't he kill himself after this interview?
R.I.P. Peter Bogdanovich.
Rest in hell more like it.....
Discusting human being!!!!
These are two golden hours For film folks Watch out for the "zingers"
As Alan Reed said to Brando in " Viva Zapata" 1952 "you're the only one"

How was it to consul Dr Melfi?
Peter Bogdanovich

David really seems to be a very 'frustrated' performer... He, thusly has become extremely annoying.

Petar Bogdanović
A young Andrew Sarris?!!
Oh my God David Edelstein's the worst.
He got his.
Such an amateurish interviewer.
Totally. Bogdonavich actually loves and respects Streisand. Just lazy critical journalism.
2013
What a terrible interviewer. Sloppy, possibly non existent research and too often inadvertently upstaging the enjoyable Mr Bogdanovich.
