The Zuikaku was the most effective capital ship of the IJN and deserves the resputation that the Yamato gets. Even at her death she fulfilled her duty. The Yamato had one opportunity and failed miserably (Her last mission was just plain stupid). And yes I know the Zuikaku participated in the Pearl Harbor attack but I don't believe that the crew were aware that it was to be a sneak attack (to be fair even if they were they may not have cared).
Nobody expects it to become a sneak attack, Yamamoto's plan was to declare war first before the attack commence, but the Japanese diplomat that was supposed to deliver the declaration of war got drunk the night before, so that's how it turns out to be.
@@Jacky-zt5ch the japanese started the russo-japanese war with a sneak attack- which was lauded by some in the US.
@@papajohnloki That is true, but for Pearl Harbor the declaration of war was meant to be sent a half hour before the attack, but they screwed it up.

Is she Yamamoto's daughter?
I don't think so, she said she was the daughter of the captain of Akagi when the attack of pearl harbor happen, while Yamamoto was Akagi's captain but that was 1928-1929, Akagi's captain at Pearl was Hasegawa Kiichi, he died in a truck accident in 1944. Akagi had changed captain just before Midway, captain Aoki Taijiro survived the war and died in 1962. Zuikaku's last skipper never captained the Akagi, his previous command was the Hosho in 1943 which he held for 3 months before given the command of Zuikaku.
