I heard a soft weeping throughout this video, then realized it was your poor little Bowcheng UV-5R crying as you caressed the "new hotness". You're a monster, but we still love you.
I have the 935G and I bought my wife the 905G because it has a simpler interface for her. We love them and they work great for us, so far. We have learned to local "dead" spaces around us due to the terrain, but the fars seem to be adequate, again, so far. Thanks, Randy for being such a great source of experienced guidance for us.
Love your videos, Randy. I’ve been binge watching them now that I have my GMRS license. Bought a KG-935G from your recommendation and preordered it. Thanks for recommending not waiting for “instock”. Keep up your sass. It’s refreshing and highly entertaining.
Just got my "shipped" notification, so yeah. Go ahead and get it ordered even if out of stock. Doesn't take too long. And here my "radio while I wait" Raddioddity GM-30 shipped today tooo.....hmmmm.
I got my 935G two weeks ago. It took me a little while to run through all the features to make sure the thing worked as planned. The only thing I found wrong was that with the weather alert on, scanning was very noisy. I contacted BTWR they asked if I had the squelch off. I did not. But his asking about the squelch reminded me of a similar problem with another radio some years ago. I thought I had a squelch problem with it. If I turned the radio off then on the noise went away. Turns out the battery was deconditioned. Same problem with the Wouxun battery. Apparently the battery became deconditioned in shipping. I,put it in my fancy battery charger with lithium settings and set it for battery conditioning. After two hours it was conditioned and charged. Problem gone. After three full discharges and recharges, the battery seems to be fine with full capacity. Just sending this in for info for others. Thank you, Randy for your great videos. Tim
I LOVEEEE this guy!! The following is an honest statement: This UA-camr is the ONLY UA-camr that can make me laugh! No. Joke. I smile and have so much fun watching these. Thank you for making my day and producing such quality content. Tbh, I should join his stuff by hitting the "join" button, at least to say thanks.
As a sharp eyed viewer, the most important measurement to evaluate a GMRS radio for me is the "Moneys to Fars ratio", which is also known as the MFR. I have also noticed that as radios mistresses get older they tend not to have as much interest in my active GMRS lifestyle as they did when we first met.....This is why an occasional radio mistress upgrade to a newer model might be necessary, but you could lose half your moneys......Newer radios are just more playful and less serious.....
I just got my KG-935G and you were right to tell us to order this when listed as out of stock. It came in just 1 week. It would be great if you could go over some of the MENU FUNCTIONS of this radio that might be new to many users. Items such as: Compander, ANI-SW, Sidetone, Tone Alert, PTT-ID, Ring Tone, Call Code, and Squelch Tone could use a better explanation and when these are used. Thanks for your videos!
Thank you very much for showing the scan speed of these two radios (11:16+) Very helpful. Something very much overlooked in reviews. A radio that can scan 100+ channels but takes 100+seconds to do so is a VERY poor scanner.... This looks MUCH better. Add the KG-935G "feature" of being able to monitor a specific channel WHILE scanning others is an EXCELLENT feature that is not common on other radios.
So I’ve been doing radios for about 8 months now. Licensed for 4. I have been getting better and better radios since getting my first UV-5R. The KG-935g plus will be my next one once it arrives. My current favorite is the HA1G and before that, the TD-H8. (Love the TD-H8) This is all due to watching Randy, my favorite UA-camr. I’m up to 28 radios not including my mobiles. It’s become an addicti………um……… interesting hobby.
I love your video format. It’s what really keeps me coming back for more. The content is great too, but it’s the way do your videos that I enjoy. Keep it up.
Shamalama Rand Man!! Another awesome video! Keep thumping on the sad Hams. I'm an amateur Extra and the sad Hams piss me off too, mainly because they chase off newbies to the hobby. As you have pointed out in several videos, radios are another tool in box, so I was wondering why you haven't posted a video lately showing radio usage out on the Not Rubicon Trail. You do a good job of explaining radio basics, but it sure helps to see someone using a radio in a practical field setting. Let's face it, when it boils down to the basics, all you really want out of a radio is to push the button, say your message, and get a response from the station you called. Doesn't matter if it's CB, FRS, GMRS, MURS, or Ham. Match up the tool with the job at hand. Call me old school, but I've recently gotten back into CB. I was sure surprised to hear all the traffic on the upper channels using SSB and AM modes. Maybe you could give a little love to CB in the future, especially the PRESIDENT Mckinley and Randy models. If you're not into CB that's OK, but for anyone out there who is vacillating between the bands, they should definitely check out those two radios. Keep sizzling the airwaves, but most of all have fun doing it. I'm sure I speak for all of your "favorite" viewers in expressing thanks for the effort you put into making those really funny, entertaining videos.
Even though the website says out of stock I ordered a 935G and it shipped that same day. Not saying that will be the case for everyone but you should definitely order one now if you want it sooner than later.
I like the super heterodyne receiver on the 905. Though the 935 is more creative, flamboyant, and colorful, I fear that the super homodyne radio on a chip might not offer the receive selectivity of the 905 in a high RF urban environment.
I agree 100%. That’s why I purchased two 905’s. I am in a higher RF urban environment. With that said… My initial outreach test with the two 905’s in this type of environment yielded a (simplex) range of only ½ mile (w/ Nagoya 771G antennas). Where I live (DFW), I think I will need to connect to a mobile or base antenna in order to hit the local GMRS repeaters. I will need to experiment more.
@@fillmoreranger634 FWIW, Randy got to me yet again with his videos. Curiosity got the better of me and I ordered a 935 from BTWR. So far, I am very pleased with it. I get great xmit audio and signal reports on an area repeater system and, believe it or not, am not noticing any more noise on receive than with the 905s. I actually understand Randy's gravitation towards the 935. Its screen is much more pleasing in a vehicle at night in that it does not destroy my night vision the way the light and screen on the 905 do.
I have both radios and like them both. If I’m going to loan one during an outing, they get the 905G because there’s less to mess up. I enjoy all your content. Thanks.

Hey Randy, love your video(s), I've learned so much. I'm still a noobie and the GM30 was my first GMRS HT (thank you for the great review) and I think it's awesome, have been enjoying using it. Randy seems to have effusive, effeminate love for his radios. He reflects how I feel about my radios.
Can you help me I am so confused about what Wouxun Radio is the GMRS is it KG-UV9 plus or KG-UV9 pro I need the GMRS one thank you for your and I enjoy your videos they are great
935G+ too complicated for a new user? I've been learning towards 905G due to its simplicity, but recently came across the 935G+. One of the appealing things is the 935G+ is chirp compatible and I have a Mac so that would be my only option for programming software.
Nota Rubicon: which one you think is better, the wouxun kg Uv9g pro or the wouxun kg 935g?
Depends on how you define "Better".. for some, the 935G is better.. for others, the UV9G is better..
Love his mfr gmrs wouxun ht ten miles ht to ht
