This is the best race for her to open her season, because she and her camp know what they're doing.
As an former Athlete it's very Natural to atleast be competitive in an Event like The Prefontaine and therefore putting your Best Foot forward in a Race where so much Talent were on Display and Bragging Rights is at Stake.. I cant see why Elaine Thompson-Herrah would Show up and Run that Badly..Both her Coach Mr. Walcott and Herself should atleast Know where She's at this Point and therefore should'nt Show-Up to embarrassed herself the way She did and as always her supporters continue making Excuses yet Again..What I will say Now without any Apology whatsoever is that She's will Not be able to make the Jamaican Team for the Individual 100 & 200m Events and might Not even be a oart of the 4x100m Relay Pool..I'm a Firm believer in " What Have You Done Lately" and Not what you have done in the Past..

Elaine went from 11.23 to 10.79 last year in the course of a few races so I am not worried she will improve.
However I still confused as to why her coach allowed this to happen she should never have been opening her season at such a high profile diamond league event.
Because the plan obviously was not to run all out but to just do enough to get out of the blocks

That notion that you don’t show your cards so early is a bunch of BS. Everyone knows Elaine's style and strength. Professional track runners know everybody's strengths and weaknesses, especially the top 15 sprinters. Elaine gave up because she knew she was getting her a$$ kicked. Elaine will never get back to that 10.54 form unless she goes back to Steve Francis or that Jamaican lady coach she fired.

If Elaine is injured I can understand! If she is not injured then the camp needs to get their act together. How hard it is to get a man running 10/7 or 10/8 for her to test her skills against to know where she is at , before coming to Prefontain Classic ??
Even when she was injured and at the MVP her season opener would not be in late May-money and being misguided by people close to her has put her in this situation.

Totally in agreement with your analysis. A great champion like Elaine can use a race like that to gage where her preparations are at the moment. Peaking at the right time is what I suspect is her ultimate goal and not winning at every meet in an Olympic year. She can either grab at small catches or wait for the triple-triple Olympic history. If this is her strategy, it's brilliant. I saw no effort from Elaine to turn on the turbo and concluded it was a run for the bag but not to show her hand just yet. She's in good hands and looks healthy. Blessings!

This was just a pay day for Elaine...she never planned to compete at the prefontaine classic watch out for June 6th
There were a few local track events for her to run in and her coach didn't let her run in which was a big mistake.

Disagree…ET is running way too slow this time of the year! Nobody’s said anything about her running WR times this early in season. But she should be closer to high 10’s or 11 flat.
Cmon imagine Usain Bolt running 10.4…. If she was just starting training I’d agree. But she been training for months probably. My guess she carrying an injury. If so that’s disappointing and points to still not having right trainer/training set up. Qualifying for Olympics won’t be easy! And with three weeks approx to go she’s cutting it very fine cos with this performance I can tell you her training won’t be where it should be. Tbh I doubt know whether will qualify. I wish her best though and I really want to see her in top shape to defend her title.
It's good to be optimistic but July is not far away. I am waiting on Queen Shelly to come out. Both are in the same camp. Walcott and Francis have have held their top athletes back. Strategy? Lets see how it works. The men are out there running and warming up. So is it different for the men from the ladies? What is it?

She should have at least competed in one of our local track events before this diamond league event. Training form and race form are not the same. Running against competitors tells the athlete where they are now relative to their competitors. ETH needs to run a few more races including local ones to get her ready for the National trials.

Well, I was so disappointed and hurt, wasn't expecting her to last. She has work to do. Shericka didn't look too good in the beginning either, I saw sone struggle not the typical Shericka.
She is too comfortable in her lifestyle which gets to her head, the hunger isn't there; she has to do better.

The point is....she looks healthy but NOT in any shape to run fast. You said panic should be after national championship ifs she's still running 11.3??
IF she's still running 11.3 at national championship she wont have to worry about the season after that because she wouldn't have made the team.
People making excuses for that run are the same people that thought she was about to so something "special".
The "lets wait and see" narrative is accurate BUT that should have been the stance BEFORE the race IF we're to look at things objectively without our emotions and biases factoring in.
Too many people want to ignore all the EVIDENCE before them and that is....Elaine is 31 now with constant injury concerns over the years. Even though she might currently be "healthy", she hasn't been able to do the type of background training year after year to make her tap back into her 2021 form.
She will get "faster" this year for sure because she's not all of a sudden a 11.3 athlete, BUT....the reality is....its unlikely she'll be fit enough to defend her double double. Baring injuries....Sha'Carri will win the 100m and Shericka the 200m.
BTW....The national championship is ONLY one month away. Thats not that far away.

I’m an American, but I’m also a fan of the Jamaicans; with that said, I will be honest. I think Elaine has some injuries. She did not look like she purposely didn’t push. She looked like she didn’t have the push. I think she will be a threat again at the world championships. I’m not sure about her in Paris. Right now, she needs to work on her strength and try to make this Olympic team, which, in my opinion, is not a guarantee.
