There well made I have one 38 it has a hammer on it Ned a22mag. Would be nice.?
You dont use "reset" with a double action revolver. That is something any revolver person knows. Shooting from "the reset" is something the new batch of gun people came up with.
the trigger is perfectly fine
You are not a regular revolver shooter I was trained on a revolver at age 21, I am now 76. We were taught to release the trigger after each shot. The semiauto has ruined your conception of a good trigger. Personally, I like the LCR.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Much appreciated. I always like hearing from owners.
Exactly
You mean you let the trigger come all the way forward, right? I'm new to revolvers as well. Thanks.
I got one in 38 and really like it. It’s my everyday carry. I carry in my front pocket, and You can’t tell it’s there. Great carry gun.
Do you have to use the moon clip in that?
the trigger reset is not a problem. you just need to learn how to shoot a DA revolver.... it's not a semiautomatic. Rapid fire spray and spray is semiautomatic trend. Slow down and make em count with a 5 shot revolver
Thanks for your feedback. Always good to hear other’s input.
Agree. A little practice and you get used to the DA trigger. The lcrx lets you gauge your trigger by the hammer. These are nice guns. I have 2 x's in 22 and 357. Thats my pistol set. Not much you can't do with the set. Throw in a set of Hogue boot grips and some speed loaders and your ready for bear! The 22 and 38/357 will share holsters, grips, sites and stuff.
Learning how isn't the problem. For many of us 'seniors' with debilitating arthritis heavy trigger pull or racking the slide of many of the pistols out there becomes a severe physical struggle. It's not a question of 'learning'.
yeah because slow and precise is what exactly will happen in a gunfight! 🤦♂️
@@babyblue8214 it will for those that want to win
Best video about LCR on the internet. I fell in love with this gun. The trigger is incredible smooth and the gun is realy lightweight. I can't even feel it when I carry. Greetings from Czech Republic.
Thanks for checking out the review and great feedback from the Czech Republic 🇨🇿. Much appreciated! Please share the channel with your friends and other enthusiasts 😎👍
using the 327 six shot. Can't believe this thing hits with 357 power but 38 P+ recoil
No the fuck it isn't. This guy has no clue what he's talking about
I've never had an issue with trigger reset on ANY handgun 🤷♂️ But I don't ever "ride the reset" (which I think is dangerous and foolish). Instead, I train to let off and get back on the trigger during recoil.
Train hard; train smart 😊
I absolutely love my LCR in 38sp +p.. I'm guessing somewhere around 500 factory rds and 1,000 of my hand loads. Once you and the LCR get comfortable, you will find yourself out shooting the guys with autos.. especially the glock fan boys and their 43s..
Revolver reload doesn’t involve pushing the ejection rod, it involves whacking it. I recommend turning the barrel straight up and giving that rod a solid downward whack, like you mean it. I’ve never had a spent casing fail to eject from my lcr using this method.
True..!!
Most competitive shooters don’t pay any attention to the reset, and its the last thing you would worry about in a defensive scenario.
I can hit a cigarette pack/deck of cards every time at 30 feet with enough time, and a milk jug every time fairly quickly, with my LCR .357. I only shoot .38 +P defensive stuff out of any snubnose .357. I suspect you would too, if you shot enough DAO revolvers. I'm sure you can shoot, but they're very different from autoloaders.
Thank you for this excellent, in-depth and truthful assessment of the Ruger LCR .357 Magnum pistol! (Although it was the .38 Special version, I still got the drift of what the pistol could do.) I am purchasing the Ruger LCR .357 Magnum version in two weeks and everything you demonstrated from the unboxing, sights, recoil, frame material, grip and especially, the issue with the recoil, were priceless. I also really appreciate your honesty about the personal things that you did not like about the Ruger. All of your teachings were well noted. Thanks again!
The LCR is not actually "hammerless". There is a hammer there. It's just shrouded. Like a Smith 442 or 642.
Read the manual so you understand the the trigger action and learn it. Just like getting a new baseball glove. You have to learn it’s limits and benefits.
Many striker fired gun owners dislike revolver triggers, cause are lazy on having to let to trigger out all the way.
I learned on revovlers, da/sa, and da striker guns and can't stand striker fired like glockenspiel especially for carry guns.
If you own this revolver or plan on buying one, do yourself a favor and pick up a Galco Sto-N-Go holster for it. You'll legitimately forget you're carrying with this holster. It conceals under even tight fitting t-shirts and you absolutely cannot feel the firearm at all. Must comfortable EDC you can imagine in this holster and it only gets better the longer you carry it and the holster continues to mold to the cylinder. After a few years, mine has completely molded into the grooves of the cylinder.
Great vid. Digging that logo too, brother. Looking forward to more reviews.
More to come!
Don’t matter what brand revolver it is. Rugers trigger stroke is just a lil longer than S&W and Colts. Short stroke any of them you’ll get same negative result.
I own all 3 brands snub models. The LCR is newer and better designed. Superior trigger pull quality that skips pinching your trigger finger meat between trigger and frame like the colts and smiths do.
Skip the LCR in 38S and grab the 357m model. It’s slightly heavier and handles heavy weight spicey 38+P loads far better.
By far this is the BEST. Grant you talk to people as though they were your best friend. Good job !!!
Thanks for checking out the review and great feedback. I’m glad you like the review. Much appreciated and please share with your friends and other enthusiasts.
Great evaluation and commentary, with one exception. While I personally do not agree with your trigger comments, you are certainly entitled to make these issues known. I think you SLIGHTLY overdid it however, once or even twice is OK, but you really exceeded that level.
I have two of these, and even as someone who cut my teeth on Smith & Wesson revolvers, I sometimes have that issue with not letting the trigger go forward far enough
This is because the cam system that makes the trigger pull smoother and lighter also makes it longer, it's a trade-off
I am getting better at that
This is why old Mr Bianchi used to tell people
' 1 gun, 1 holter, all the time'
Valid argument but i promise speaking as a casual shooter, an average noob is not looking for a trigger reset lol
In my experience for us 'older' folks a da/sa is more practical because the da pull is too difficult for weak hands, or those with other physical issues. S&W snubbies da pull is very heavy,( around 14lbs) are a good example of heavy pulls. A good alternative for these folks is a light racking, smaller caliber semi- auto. Just my HO. Also a suggestion for inclusion in future reviews would be firearms for the older generation dealing with various aging related issues. Light racking slides on autos, lighter weight and the plus and minuses of smaller calibers. I have a LCRx but I have it in 22 magnum. But I subscribe to the statistic that says that the average citizen has less than on tenth of one percent chance of getting in a gunfight. For us a firearms says we refuse to be an easy victim of the junkie or mugger we are more likely to encounter. Again, thanks for doing your channel. Too many reviewers somehow never seem to find any drawbacks to the weapons they review.
Thanks for checking out the review and your feedback. Much appreciated. Please take a look at my review on the S&W shield EZ and Sig P238 when you have a moment. I would recommend those for someone with “weak hands”. Thanks again and please share the channel with your friends and other enthusiasts.
Louis, have you tried the Ruger LCP2 22lr. Easy to cock, easy trigger, and 11 low recoil 22 ammo. Fun gun and cheap shooting for weak hands. Try it you'll like it. And... It says Ruger on the side.
S&W shield EZ .380 (or 9 if you think you can handle) would be a perfect fit for someone who needs a light racking, compact size, light recoiling semi-auto.
You complain about the difficult trigger pull but you have the type of LCR with the hardest pull of all: the 22 magnum or 22 long rifle. Those have the hardest trigger pull of any LCR because they chamber the rimfire ammo, which is less reliable than center fire ammo. I have a Ruger SP101 in 357 and a Smith J frame in 38 special. Both have inexpensive aftermarket spring kits and the triggers are very easy to pull. That being said, if you still find the trigger too difficult after all that, you can always pull the hammer back and fire single action.
Awesome video brother!! Keep them coming please!!!!!
Thanks! Will do!
I have carried the LCR .38+ that is how a DA only cycl. I like it, but I've only carried revolvers for 30 years or so. On duty and off. When I transition to semiautomatics, I learned to feel the reset. The revolver (DA ONLY) is different. Learn it, you may like it, if not, use your semiautos.
My wife has this handgun and she like it. She purchased it used and the previous owner had installed an XS big dot sight on it which makes it easier to shoot targets 5 and 10 yards. It is very snappy with the 38 special +p rounds. Overall she is happy with it but she wants a SIG P365. So I get a new to me revolver when she gets her new gun🙂.
Always if possible when ejecting cases from a revolver cylinder. Always point the barrel vertical completely vertical and slap the ejector rod with the palm of the hand. Otherwise you may get incomplete ejection and can induce a malfunction when a case gets jammed under the ejector star. When reloading the revolver always point the muzzle directly down. These rwo things will improve the reloading process dramatically and may save your life.
I have the .357 model with Hi-Viz green sight and Hogue green laser grip. I like the option of also shooting .38 special for training.
Thanks for checking out the channel and your feedback. I always love hearing from owners. Please share the channel with your friends and other enthusiasts.
I just bought the Lcrx 38 +p can't wait to shoot it TY for sharing
LOVE my LCR 9mm. Easiest appendix carry gun I have ever owned. Can go all day and dont even know its there. Like others said.. with time and practise one will get much better at shooting it. I now find myself shooting my LCR better than my autos inside 7-10 yards. However, like you mentioned… this is not a long range gun. After 10 yards things get difficult. My point to people though is this… unless you are in a large shoot out and you are in a self defense situation where you need to use your firearm if your shooting at someone thats over 10 yards away from you, your going to find yourself in a dicy court battle proving a lot of stuff.
Thanks for the great feedback. I always like hearing from owners.
i ahve heard that argument before about the 10 yards stuff and its nonsense. If someone is shooting at me it doesn't matter how close or far I am from them i have every legal right to defend myself. Why would you even say somethign that stupid?
Keep in mind that Eli Dickens was 40 yards away from his target.
Have you noticed any of the “bullets creeping out of the casing” issue I’ve heard about with 9mmm LCR?
Do you have to use a moon clip with the 9mm?. I'm thinking on getting one but I don't really want to have a moon clip all the time.
I Love My LCR .38+P, I Have C.T Laser Grips On It & It's Deadly Accurate...
Great Video... 👍👍
Thanks for the great feedback. I always like hearing from owners
The ironic thing is that I used to carry a 38 snub nose years ago because I did nite deposits where I worked. Now I am looking to replace my 9mm semi-auto because I had a stroke and now the slider is "almost" too hard for me. I'm looking at a revolver because that eliminates that issue. I have looked at the MP EZ(?) and the most I can easily rack consistently is the 380, but it seems kinda "bulky" for what I want it for.
I put the longer Hogue grip on mine without the finger grooves. Only adds a little bit more length for a full size grip and still conceals super easily. Can’t get over the pinky just dangling. Overall I love this revolver I just wish they had made the frame with stainless steel. My recommendation go with the .357 version so you can shoot both calibers and in turn heavier frame for better shoot ability. Trigger doesn’t bother me I enjoy the patented cam system. All the way back all the way forward, too easy. Plus I have the external hammer on mine for some single action fun.

Been running into quite alot of new shooters looking for hammerless revolvers, might need to direct them to a ruger LCR! Still loving the new target btw!
Thanks so much! We're making a plan to bring the targets to market.
Definitely. I took my grandmother to the range to try a J frame style revolver after she was mugged by some trailer trash and she loved the Ruger LCR. She tried the Smith and Wesson Model 642, Smith and Wesson Bodyguard, Rock Island Armory M206, Windicator, and Taurus 856 (probably would have tried a Colt Cobra or Kimber K6S if they had those). She eventually chose the Ruger LCR because it was light, had the smoothest DA trigger, fit well in her hands, and had the least amount of felt recoil even though it is lighter than a few of the other metal snub nose revolvers. It also has smooth curves so nothing could possibly get stuck when she's drawing it from her purse.
I've never been a fan of the Ruger cylinder release. It works okay on their larger revolvers but I find it awkward on the small LCR series. My .357 version had to go back to Ruger because the locking pin under the barrel that engages the ejector when the cylinder is closed would remain stuck in the forward position 95% of the time after closing it. They fixed it and it works fine now. That said, the .357 version is brutal with full power loads and I'm lucky to get through a cylinder full before going back to .38 Spl standard pressure. Regarding short stroking the trigger, make a conscious effort to release all pressure before pulling again (gets easier with practice). I do that with all DA revolvers.
The LCR in .357 has been my EDC for the last three years now great gun
Thanks for the great feedback. I always like hearing from owners. Much appreciated!
Awesome video!
Thanks so much. Please share the channel with your friends and other enthusiasts.
i carry one of these (but its not the snub nose variant) and i love it more than my old makarov. esily my fav pistol =3
It’s a revolver not a semiauto. That’s the way a revolver works. It’s not a problem if you train on it.
I make the distinction between recoil and sting. I’m no expert, so correct me if I’m wrong. I love mine, it’s a perfect conceal weapon but I found when shooting it there’s not much recoil but it does sting the hand a bit. But I didn’t buy this for target shooting. I bought it for up close protection. Hopefully five rounds will save me. When I want to just shoot at a target I take my S&W 357 highway patrol revolver.
My experience with the LCR is limited to one dry firing session when my granddad was showing me his that he kept as a glove box gun, and I found the "false reset" to be more of an annoying quirk than a fatal flaw.
I liked everything else about it though (especially the smoothness of the trigger), so I've debated on getting one of these or an Airweight 642 for myself since I'm a bit interested in finding something that is hypothetically legal to have in all 50 states.
I'm leaning towards the Ruger just because I've actually handled one before and am familiar with the platform, but the 642 has a lot more aftermarket support and information available on troubleshooting them.
If I do get an LCR, I'd probably get one in .357 for better durability over the standard .38 model, but I certainly wouldn't mind a .38 either if the price was too good to pass up.
Trigger reset is shorter most Colts.
I have resched the point in the presentation where all I can focus on is Mr. Macky from South Park, mkay? It's an ear worm that is difficult to avoid, mkay? Trigger reset on this LCR is easy to muck up for some of us, mkay? I own a couple S&W revolvers, and this isn’t a problem when I shoot them, mkay? But I tend to short stroke the LCR from time to time. M'kay? M'kay.
Nice video. The trigger is something one would have to consider. Not an issue with me carrying it as a back up next to my Hk P2000sk LEM Thanks for sharing!
Totally agree. I would definitely recommend renting the LCR if possible to make sure you’re ok with the trigger before purchasing. The P2000 is a nice choice too btw.
all revolvers have triggers that you can short stroke and that is why you practice so that does not happen when all you do is ride the reset on semi autos that is going to happen if you go to a revolver
I’ve had one for years and shot it quite a bit. One thing I’ve struggled with is the grip angle. My trigger finger rubs on the frame above the trigger and I’ve lost skin.
😬 ouch
Maybe try the boot grip for more finger to frame Gap or have the OEM grip relieved on the trigger finger side to alleviate the rubbing issue
Dude, that is a nicely designed logo!!!!
Great video!!! May I ask what your every day carry is currently?
Thanks for checking out the review and compliment. My EDC does change depending on what I’m wearing. Usually my conceal is a p365xl with a Romeo zero. I have a review of it in my videos you want to check out.
This is my daily carry. I have never short stroked it. Every gun has a rhythm/pace that is ideal for it. Rapid shooting is not it for the LCR. FWIW I found that the Colt Cobra was the worst as far as short stroking and I quickly sold it.
Thanks for checking out the review and your feedback. I love hearing from owners. I’ll try getting my hands on one of the Colts for sure. Please share the channel with your friends and other enthusiasts.
I just bought one last week and I didn't get a soft case 😢
Carried a .357 LCR for 7 years. Went on the road and locked the gun w/ the chinese lock Ruger includes. In Detroit i felt id better load it...after hours of work during 2 days, and a bottle of oil, i finally was able to remove the lock...toss that chinese peice of poop right out of the box!
Wood and stainless steel is all you need 💪
trigger feel comes with just shooting autos, have to get the feel of a revolver
The only thing I dont like about the LCR, is that it's so freaking popular and I could never find one...
But, I do like the J-frame that I found because of this problem. To LCR owners, I salute you. You gotta good one!
what gun is that in the background with the scope?
On the far right it’s a Arsenal Sam7k-44r
Face it, this isn't a shooter; it's a get off me gun.
You should watch hickup45, shoots consistently at what looks like 200 yards...awesome
It’s whatever you want it to be. conceal carry, open carry, home defense, whatever. Why do we keep categorizing what guns should be ? It shouldn’t really matter if it’s going to protect you in whatever situation.
Thank you for explaining the trigger reset for this revolver. I just bought one and will be mindful of this particular quirk. Good job!
Glad to hear you found that helpful. I know for me that would be a important factor. Please check out my other reviews and share the channel 😎👍
Y'all obviously don't have much experience with DA revolvers. It's like complaining about how "annoying" it is to have to cock semi-autos. It's a limitation of the function, not a design flaw.
Hickok 45 has a video on this pisto. He had no issues shooting and hitting targets at 200 yards. He really loved the trigger action. So I think it was you mainly
Certainly could be. Thanks for checking out the review and feedback anyways
Hickok’s gong is 80 yards away. Is that what he was shooting at?
Great review, a little chatty but great, my opinion it's a get off me gun
Appreciate the great feedback!
The LCR is a revolver that you have to really commit to training with to overcome short stroking the otherwise incredibly smooth trigger. As much as I like the gun overall, the trigger reset is so incompatible with what I am used to (Sig P365 and P320) that I've had to switch to a J frame as my pocket revolver. Pity that.
I agree with ya there. Between the Ruger and S&W triggers I’m a S&W fan.
It’s a self defense gun. In a life saving situation does trigger reset really mean anything? It’s not a take to the range target practice pistol.
Have you done a review the s&w Airweight revolvers( 642, ect)?
I have the S&W in the cue for upcoming content. Thanks for checking out the review and please share the channel with your friends and other enthusiasts.
I have one with the Crimson Trace laser grip. The recoil is tremendous with just standard 38 Not fun to shoot. Even my trigger finger has had enough after about a dozen shots. Maybe I should have gone with the factory grip.
I personally like the full size grip on smaller / snub nose revolvers.
This is a great channel. I'm happy you are featuring guns geared towards concealed carry. That's badly needed. But I had to take issue with one point in this review.
Comparing auto loader triggers to double action revolver triggers seems a bit like apples to oranges. A heavy trigger pull right out of the box is not unusual for double action revolvers. A heavy trigger on the first shot with lighter follow up shots is not unusual for many modern auto loaders. Triggers come down to personal preference.
I've had my LCR's for about five years. After training with them I can shoot quickly and accurately at the self defense distances you presented in this video. I have had no problems short stroking the trigger and that's even when doing muscle memory drills where I pull from my concealed position and fire quickly into the target.
I will admit I don't usually shoot as often at 10 yards but it's because at that distance and further out I suspect my self defense shots might be questioned by the police. When I do shoot from 10 yards or more I'm usually just having fun shooting melons or gallon water jugs at an outdoor range.
I absolutely agree with your recommendation to try this gun at the range before buying but I think that's wise advice before any gun purchase.
Thanks for checking out the channel and the great feedback. I always like hearing from owner so I appreciate hearing your perspective.
The Smith and Wesson Shield (that I'm replacing) had the same ghost reset problem. Apex duty and carry trigger kit fixed it. Do you know if there is a fix for that ghost resetting trigger? Not sure it's even possible on a revolver. I was about to order one, but having experienced what you're describing, it's a deal breaker for me if it can't be remedied, so I appreciate the video for that reason.
I would contact your local gun smith and see if they can do anything with the factory trigger. I’m not familiar with a aftermarket trigger remedy.
Train with the weapon, the trigger and reset is a non issue. Learn how it works.
Great review! My EDC is a S&W 442 and I love it. I'm a big fan of conceal carry snubbies. I appreciate your thorough review. The main difference for me is my 442 has a quicker single tick reset.
Thank you for checking out my review. I agree the 442 has a better reset.
Great review!
ps: What happens when you train to not to get complete extraction at an indoor gun range?
Oh boy I feel like I’m falling into a trap… what do you get?
@@ConcealedCarryChannel lol. You do the same under stress in a self defensive situation. Do you know how long I’ve worked to untrain my self from holding onto an ejected semi mag from range training? I’ll let you know when I’m sure. 🥴
I noticed mine kind of does the same thing on the trigger reset but it doesn’t actually spin the cylinder unless you come all the way out with it, I just bought this one begging of this year though so maybe it’s been upgraded idk
Thanks for the feedback. I always like hearing from owners.
I liked the part where you said "...mm'kay..." 😑
Lol great review otherwise 👍
PRPER GRIP B/S...THAT IS A LIGHT GUN, YOU CAN NOT SHOOT A STEADY DIET OF +P AMMO, YOUR HAND WILL HURT, THIS IS NOT a target weapon....it is a carry weapon for self defense, you practice with non +P ammo Only fire +P ammo so you do not get surprised with the very strong recoil from that round........Practice with light recoil ammo....
Ed Grimly shoots a LCR ….i must say.
I just bought this yesterday. What's weird is the only ammo they had was aluminum casing... I'm curious how it will work
It should work just fine. I was shooting aluminum during the pandemic cause it’s what I could find and didn’t have any issues. The only real negative I can see shooting aluminum is when it come to reloading.
@@ConcealedCarryChannel - Good to hear. Thanks
Long trigger, long reset. I’m cool with that, train regularly and it’ll become second nature. It ain’t a semi.
Now i know where does the weight difference comes. Wanted to buy 327 magnum but found it too heavy - now i know why
You're not very familiar with revolvers are you.
The moment someone mentions the "sights", on a snub nosed revolver I honestly stop listening. If you're target shooting, get a barrel longer than 4", if you're defending your life in close quarters, use a snub nosed revolver.
I absolutely understand when it comes to these smaller guns. The sights can certainly be a moot point. However if I don’t touch on them someone will surely comment on the fact I didn’t. I’m glad you took the time to leave feedback and check out the review. Much appreciated
☝️😊 Training Issue!!! These days that is the "blanket" response... We always blame the shooter first rather than the gun...
Airweight is cheaper...

For self defense that trigger is fine
Range shooters my not care for it
True story. I appreciate the great feedback.
I've never seen a video taking about trigger reset on a double action revolver. He doesn't seem to know much about guns.
I appreciate you checking out the review and feedback. I talk about it because other don’t and I’m surprised that more reviews don’t talk about the reset of triggers even if it’s a “get off me” gun.
@@ConcealedCarryChannel it's not because it's a get off me gun. It's because it's a DA Revolver. With all revolvers you need to let off the trigger pretty much all the way to consistently get off rounds. I own plenty of striker fired and SA autos. And when I take my revolvers it always throws me off at first. "At first"
Correct. Revolvers do not have a reset.

Nice video. Sell the lcr and buy a real gun wth a hammer. The hammer solves all those problems. An lcr without a hammer is like a car without a steering wheel. Sure it works if you have vice grips, but...
