In the temples of Laos, teenage monks accompany a soul in transit from one body to another through the bardo. A luminous and sonorous journey leads to reincarnate on the beaches of Zanzibar, where groups of women work in seaweed farms.

i've seen it now and feel this more strongly still as the samsara of 2023 transpires to be one of the great metaphysical films of all time, if you ask me - up there with herzog and tarkovsky etc. it is so brave and beautiful in both style and substance. i do wish the film had a title that belonged to it alone.
