I want to say China’s early COVID lockdowns were impressive, but no country is flawless. It seems like the lockdowns now-at a time when there are vaccines-at a time when people know how to mask up and social distance-at a time when we can manage the virus if we’re smart and get on with the economy, are a policy ultimately hurting more people than helping. At this point many of the COVID variants are more infectious but much less lethal. I hope you, your friends, and your family are managing and that you all get enough food. The government is not always right-and this applies to every nation.

There are communal areas! Like towards the end Joey shows some spaces you can hang out with friends but even in smaller ones that don’t have billiards and arcade rooms, there tend to be kind of lounge areas. But the thing is you usually rent a room anyway, people that are staying a long time don’t really come with people, and you can imagine most of the people who come are quite introverted - not a ton of people hoping to interact with strangers. Keep in mind Japan doesn’t have much of a small talk culture so things like that can be uncomfortable.

Protips for spending the night in an internet cafe:
    1. Bring an eye mask + earplugs
    2. Bring any bath items that you are particular about (i.e. loofah, specific shampoo/body wash/tooth paste)
    3. Ask the front desk for a spare blanket (one to sleep on top of and one to use as a normal blanket....the pleather gets hot)
    4. Do not sleep on the smoking floor, even if you do smoke
    5. Bring pajamas
    6. Pay in advance if you are drunk (not enjoyable to be woken up in order to pay your tab before you are allowed to stay any longer)

It’s nice that Joey only became coherent and “alive” after the cup of coffee. The Anime Man is as human as rest of us!

For someone who "lived" in one of those cubicle from your last video for a 'budget' holiday for 3 days, this room look a lot nicer! I not advice people do this but it is a way out if you stuck in Tokyo and didn't have a place to stay.
