Honestly this sounds like a fantastic little getaway once in a while. I wish something like this existed in the US. I would totally pay 150 for a mini vacation away from everyone, maybe every three months. It sounds so relaxing.
The only problem with this is that some American people just feel entitled and won't abide the rules of the Cafe. More an likely steal manga or just wreck it out of spite, I wouldn't recommend having this in America. 😔
@@connivingcrow1006 oh I completely agree with you, I’m sure the concept wouldn’t truly work unless they had like a lot of security. But doesn’t hurt to dream something like that could exist, but reality says it wouldn’t work.

I want to say China’s early COVID lockdowns were impressive, but no country is flawless. It seems like the lockdowns now-at a time when there are vaccines-at a time when people know how to mask up and social distance-at a time when we can manage the virus if we’re smart and get on with the economy, are a policy ultimately hurting more people than helping. At this point many of the COVID variants are more infectious but much less lethal. I hope you, your friends, and your family are managing and that you all get enough food. The government is not always right-and this applies to every nation.

Honestly this seems like a dream Vacation for me. If I ever go to Japan I honestly might spend two days at an internet cafe before going to a hotel
I honestly agree, this honestly seems like it'd be a lot of fun
I would actually do that to save money lol
When I went to Japan the first time I purposely stayed at a capsule hotel for 3 days in Tokyo. Capsule hotels were very new and scary cheap 😅. I was a lone traveler and wanted to experience as much as possible with the little amount of money 💵 that I had. But I wish that Japan had the sleep options internet Cafe but sadly not at the time of my travels. But he looks like he's having a great time ❤
Dude if Filipinos had internet cafe's as good as this, they would literally live in it. They could stay in an internet cafe that only has a pc and a chair for an entire day. Who knows how long they'd stay in a cafe that has rooms, food, other types of entertainment, and pool tables. (we love pool in the Philippines lol)
EXACTLYYY, our internet cafes are so packed and uncomfy

@Little Stuart lol. That's funny, but I what would he do in a Starbucks or similar establishment for a full week?
Now he's gotta up the ante next time and go the full week. Seeing as he knows about how he can bring some PS2 games and what not and rent the game system and bring his own DVDs for the DVD player, he could have more to do to fill out the extended time of 1 week. Hell maybe he could even have Aki join him since he pointed out the room could fit 2 people.
Tokyo does have a Starbucks reserve but i guess that is not the same.
Next up 72 hours

And this... this is to go... even further beyond...
[Surviving 1 WEEK in a manga cafe?!?!?]
Also as a thought now that I've seen the entire video. Despite I feel Joey wouldn't be into it after doing this, I feel a 5 day Trash Taste Special could be interesting only because all 3 of them would have their own rooms, have 3 different views to watch, give challenges to one another each day they have to do, and they can spend time with one another or be more alone if they desire. Just see how more than just Joey would react as it would probably be better with the three of them in that length of time rather than just Joey going mad by himself. IDK just a thought
Wow bro. that's rly a cool idea

I think this would be a fascinating idea. Or even some kind of experiment where they rent a house and live together for a short time.

Something that always gets me is how scarily accurate the food looks as the advertised picture on the menu. That's some standards alright.
There are some laws here in Japan regarding misleading ads so I’m assuming maybe that has something to do with it? Like they can’t display something on the menu and have it looking entirely different.

How's it going?
Hum...oh..ok
Didn't doubt I was going to watch it all the way through. Felt cramped myself, watching you spend 48 hours inside of such little space.
Protips for spending the night in an internet cafe:
1. Bring an eye mask + earplugs
2. Bring any bath items that you are particular about (i.e. loofah, specific shampoo/body wash/tooth paste)
3. Ask the front desk for a spare blanket (one to sleep on top of and one to use as a normal blanket....the pleather gets hot)
4. Do not sleep on the smoking floor, even if you do smoke
5. Bring pajamas
6. Pay in advance if you are drunk (not enjoyable to be woken up in order to pay your tab before you are allowed to stay any longer)
This journey just keeps getting more fascinating! We’ve gone from Flex Tape to Lucky Bags and now to a Japanese internet café-an unexpected but intriguing twist. It’s something I never would have thought to explore, but now I’m tempted to try it out, or at the very least, dive into some manga! I can’t wait to see what surprises video 5 has in store.

Been a month and a week since I started living in Japan, it’s pretty great but this week I spent in Tokyo for golden week was definitely the highlight so far. I def recommend coming here or even moving (even if it’s a bit harder with the language barrier and other stuffs).
If you come to Japan I really recommend doing more than 1 week. Most of the cost is in the flights so you should make use of it and stay as long as you can. Most people suggest at least 2 weeks. There is so much to do and see in Japan, you will probably find yourself feeling very rushed and missing lots of you only go for 1 week.

i think i loved that 24hrs in a manga cafe video so much that i rewatched it at least 6 times in the past. these are so much fun !
It was very naive of me, but for years I imagined Manga Cafes and Internet Cafes as open-space establishments, with tables and sofas, where you could actually socialize with fellow manga fans. I should have known better. The Japanese invented the word Hikikomori after all.
Yes, bah, this just looked depressing. Then again, living in Japan or being Japanese you might have a very different mindset.
Well for internet cafes that I used to go, they are still meant for users to privately browse internet in small booths.
Thank god for that, id hate getting annoyed by random people wanting to socialize when im out relaxing and reading.
On the other hand, im fairly sure theres a lot of manga cafes as the one you explained, some of them are places where you can drink, read and socialize if thats what you prefer.
Joey paid specifically for a sealed off room. I’m sure there’s other options. You see him using common areas where people could socialize in this vid.
There are communal areas! Like towards the end Joey shows some spaces you can hang out with friends but even in smaller ones that don’t have billiards and arcade rooms, there tend to be kind of lounge areas. But the thing is you usually rent a room anyway, people that are staying a long time don’t really come with people, and you can imagine most of the people who come are quite introverted - not a ton of people hoping to interact with strangers. Keep in mind Japan doesn’t have much of a small talk culture so things like that can be uncomfortable.
As a (novice) Tertiary nun i go on retreat minimum yearly (pre-covid). Its interesting Japan has a word for this type of thing. I find i am definitely the best version of me when i stay alone in a small room; work, read, see the sun rise etc. I learn a lot about myself. (Tertiary = same vows but can be married, have families and live outside the religious community). Nuns can like anime too! 😉

its basically my life for the past 10 years
For someone who "lived" in one of those cubicle from your last video for a 'budget' holiday for 3 days, this room look a lot nicer! I not advice people do this but it is a way out if you stuck in Tokyo and didn't have a place to stay.
Seems a perfect place to study illustrations. I will check this place out when I can eventually visit Japan
My god the lighting in these rooms is an absolute nightmare, creates a sterile and dungeon-esque atmosphere. I personally would hate to be reading in one of these cells with an obnoxiously bright spotlight on me. If they fixed the lighting in these places I can guarantee people would find them much more enjoyable!
You can’t tell what the lighting looks like from a video. Lighting that looks fine in a normal room often looks atrociously bad in a video.

This brought back flashbacks when I was confined to my room when I was sick with covid. 336 hours of doing nothing but, read, watch TV play some games and hope my mom remembered to leave food and water at the door.

No hotel/motel/hostel in North America or Europe has ever done that, though to be fair the places I stayed in Kyoto, and Hiroshima, didn't either. Makes me remember Ikebukuro though.
Well Japan does care about customers. Especially smaller family owned businesses
Joey: **considered locking inside a room for 2 days as challenge*
Me who have done it for almost my entire life: pathetic
joeys acting skills are as always on sleek. He goes into the room an while opening the door u can see his backpack sticking out already in the room to which j only says "oooh okay" as if he hadn't seen the room before. I see u... i see u there spinning your lies joey... 😠😤
It's actually cool, it only means that he was there for more that 48hrs.
*than
*what*
Absolutely loved this video Joey! Keep up the great work!
22:16 No your toothbrush just has some leftover dried-up toothpaste stuck to it, and it's only been revealed now
That’s cute having Aki on his Lock Screen 😭
What's up Joey hope you've been doing alright and have been catching up on some great anime.
Josh no longer watches anime
@@petermckelvey8396 I see so he has ascended...
4:45 if u look closely u can see backpacks, don’t quite think this is the first look for him
lmao
@@caitlynbaird8028 yeah it’s a funny Easter egg
This video made me think of I could survive in one room for 48 hours and definitely not. I was sick for a day off of work and it was torture not feeling well enough to even go outside or interact with anyone in person. Crazy how that happens
If anyone's asking, Joey's jacket is Bibisama Astro boy (ive been looking at that for quite some time lmao)
12:24 this shot really makes you just look like a crazy person talking to himself 😂
