- NEREID STUDIOS REVIEW (an honest review of Nereid Studios mermaid tails) - Nereid Studios is a China based company that creates neoprene fabric swimmable mermaid tails. I have had the chance to use mermaid tails from Nereid Studios in the water and on land and would like to share my thoughts on this company with you. In this video, I will share some of my favorite things about my Nereid Studios tails along with some of the things that I hope to see improved in the future. Please be aware that this video was filmed in June of 2021. Nereid Studios is more attention online, so I have good reason to believe that they will continue to grow and evolve as the years go on. 😇

You’ve just sold me. I only just got my first tail (a FinFolk discovery) but really wanted a pretty big fluke. I came across them after and now I am sold 😂 I need to flip a coin on color though lol

I’m glad i watched this I’m contemplating between one of there tails and one of the new finfun elite tails they’re very similar As far as price and they’re both beautiful I’ll have to keep looking at reviews and pros and cons you pointed out a few things in this video i didn’t consider so thank you

I really like the content of your videos, and your review of the Nereid Studio mermaid tail, the tail looks great, looks like it swims well, but on the subject of being short, I myself am only about 5ft 3" so yes certain taild are quite long on me, I have three tails from Finfun, and like youu, they are long enough that the waistband comes right up under my chest, Finfun suggested that if I took the tailskin to a seamstress, they could adjust the waistband to my height, as a suggestion, you could try that with some of your longer fabric tailskins.
For me, the extra ankle room is welcome! I have a bodyglove linden monofin, and it bulges SO MUCH in my other fabric tails. I hope the extra space works with the linden, since the bugle makes it look unrealistic with other tails. I'm also hard on all of my things so the durability is a HUGE plus for me. I also honestly like the simplier fluke. Sometimes I feel like flukes are unrealistically complex (to be fair, what even is realistic for mermaids) but I like the simple look of their fluke. I'm also on the shorter side, but I have a tailor (haha TAILor) who has shortened a tail wonderfully for me.
I'm considering getting an autumn foliage for a character. I typically go with Finfolk, and actually have five tails from them now that I love, in both the neoprene and the scuba fabric.
But this merman of mine is not for my performance roster. In fact, he's not even truly a merman. He's one of my main cast of OCs that I cosplay, a polymorph with the power to warp reality. His lover happens to be a lovely Ghast Siren, which is a stal (not quite dead, but not entirely alive either) siren with a black tail caged in gleaming white bone. They're absolutely soulmates and were meant for each other and meant to be together. Being from two entirely different worlds complicates things however. But they're determined to make it work, so she crafted a stone containing a spell that would allow her to trade her tail for legs and vice versa whenever she pleases!
Naturally her polymorph lover only saw it fair that he make an effort to take part in her world as well. And with his ability to warp reality, can easily give himself a tail for however long he needs it so he can explore the world beneath the water with his lady.
His primary color scheme is red and black, so the Autumn Foliage tail is absolutely perfect for his merman form! Because he isn't a part of my mermaid performance roster, I don't want to pay the price for a Finfolk, and they really don't have anything at the moment to suit his color scheme. But I still want him to have a big tail, so I didn't really want a fin fun for him either. These tails however are very reasonably priced and perfect for what I need it for, which is making my boy a merman (and perhaps just fun casual swims I don't want to get in my nice performance tails for. :3)

I just get really excited and before I know it what started off as a simple explanation turns into a big old lore-blurb. The tails are all gorgeous! I'm excited to see more of them! ❤

I did get my tail. I tried a competitor in it first and it was a no go. Then I tried the Finis Rapid in it. Sadly you could see the monofin. I am going to try it next with the Lucia Monofin. Hopefully that looks good. Things I liked was how warm it was and the colors. I got the Spring Blossom. Keep up the awesome work. I love your videos.

I have been looking at the Acid Malevolence tail for a while now...although the Autumn Foliage with its black and red aesthetic is quite lovely, and the Stygian Arbiter appeals in the sense of pretending to be a mysterious deep-sea predator. :D Do you find that there are any extreme issues (inordinately, or over-and-above what would naturally be expected) with pilling with this tail? It looks like you were able to put it through all manner of activity with absolutely no issue! :D

Hi, you've probably already said but what monofin have you tried in the Nereid tails? I have just bought one and your videos helped a lot towards that decision but, thank you, but I don't have a monofin yet.

Ohhh!! I'm so glad you got yourself one! Which color did you decide to go with?
Also, I use the Mahina monofin (in black, of course) for my Nereid Studios tails. It moves me through the water very well and fills out the fluke of the tails decently! :)
@@TheMagicCrafter I got the Spring Blossom as I love the ombre fade and the colours are very me. I have also bought a Mahina monofin in blue. Now I just need to wait for it all to arrive and find somewhere that lets me swim. :)
i have a friend who uses a planet mermaid tail but she had to have it made becuse shes larger than your average female ?
I think gluing pearls on the snaps and elsewhere on the fluke could help hide the snaps.

I feel the whole “too short for this tail” bit, even the XS adult size in FinFun tails come up a bit high on me (however their Atlantis line fits much better)
Being short is a drag sometimes! That said, the new fabric that is used for the Nereid Studios tails fits much better and looks nicer too.:)
Iv been looking at these for awhile, I have 3 monofins 2 of which are finfun the other a rapid. I really can’t afford another monofin right now and these are if it fits you can use it kinda deal
I wouldn't recommend a FinFun monofin for the Nereid Studios tails, just because they don't provide a ton of power. However, the Rapid will fit in the tails and provide you with good propulsion. The Rapid won't completely fill out the fluke, so it might have some baggy areas on land, but it should work nicely in the water. :)

Weird question, what’s the stretch of the fabric like? I know Finfolk have very little give, I’ve heard mertailor has a bit more stretch, was wondering if these were comparable. Thinking of getting a second tail. Thanks again for your review, your videos are awesome! 💕💕
That's a great question! They aren't super stretchy, really, although they do stretch a tiny bit (the fabric is quite thick!). I haven't had the chance to use a Mertailor or a FinFolk yet, so I really can't give you a great comparison there. However, I can say that they are waaaaay more rigid than a Fin Fun tail, and fit more like a pair of jeans than a pair of leggings. 😆 I hope this helped answer your question? despite there tails design floor i still be getting one as i think there great for beginners/some one who got some experience mere people and the one i be geting will be Stygian Arbiter tails as i love the mix off dark and lighter colures.
That one is very cool looking for sure!! It is actually one that I considered getting originally, but it wasn't on sale the time I was shopping. I think you're right though. Even if the designs aren't as detailed as some other companies, they tails are still great tails that are fun to swim with! :)
I think the snaps are honestly a no go for me so Mertailor is a little cheaper
I can understand that totally! They are a little cheesy! I think Nereid Studios is cheaper last time I checked (at least for neoprene tails), but Mertailor really does make awesome tails from what I've seen, so I'm sure it is well worth it! :)

I have the opposite problem of you. I'm very tall and often times my tails are too short on me xP I like them to cover a little more of my stomach.
Oh no! Well, maybe these would be a good fit for you then! It does make it difficult to find things that fit when your height (high or low) isn't "average." :/

That would be really nice if they did! Although, I don't think most people are as short as me, so I understand that I'm not the "majority" of their target audience. It would be great to have petite mermaid tails in general! :)
